Did you know that today is National Pothole Day? 🕳️🛣️ Although, of course, for the councils and highway authorities responsible for maintaining the UK's public roads, every day is pothole day. Angela Dixon, our Managing Director, has taken to our blog to share her views on the cyclical dilemma faced by councils and other authorities when dealing with potholes, and why ongoing support, joined-up community engagement and wider systems thinking are what's needed most to face an inevitable problem. Read what Angela had to say: https://lnkd.in/e_FDfdDD #NationalPotholeDay #Potholes #ThoughtPiece #Highways #LocalGov #CivicTech

Our London-based clients asked, we listened. There's a new feature on FixMyStreet Pro enabling authorities in London using the solution to export data on reports made within their boundary of abandoned hire bikes and e-scooters, even though the reports themselves are sent directly to the responsible operators. This data will help them to identify trends, keep track of service levels and monitor usage. Read more about how this works: https://lnkd.in/eQuE8Cu8 Currently, the reporting of abandoned hire bikes and e-scooters via FixMyStreet and FixMyStreet Pro is only available in London. We are keen to hear from authorities and operators in other locations where similar schemes are in place who would like to replicate this, giving members of the public an easy way to report problems to the correct operator. As small as we are in comparison to other suppliers to the public sector, we are incredibly fortunate here at SocietyWorks (and indeed across the entire mySociety group) to have some wonderfully talented people working with us because they share our desire to make digital public services work better for everyone. 🙏 One of those people is Anna Scott-Trimble, who joined our board of directors on a voluntary basis last year. Anna brings with her a wealth of experience from an impressive career working across global development, human rights, journalism and user-centred design. We published a conversation with Anna at the end of last year, in which we found out more about who she is, why she chose to join SocietyWorks and what she hopes to achieve with us. If you missed it, you can catch up on our blog: https://lnkd.in/eBXuqJvB Thanks again for chatting to us, Anna! ✨

Our 2024 annual report is here! 🎉 (It's like Spotify wrapped but for SocietyWorks 😉). As is our tradition, we publish a report at the end of each year, looking back over the last 12 months and celebrating the impact we have made in collaboration with our public sector clients and our parent charity mySociety. This year's report is a jam-packed one, containing just some of the highlights from 2024. As Angela Dixon says in her introduction: "In spite of being a smaller team, and in another challenging year for the public sector, we have remained steadfast in our role of helping councils implement digital transitions that deliver transformational outcomes. "The complex forces that govern public services necessitate exceptional service, flexibility of thinking and strong partnerships. Our unique approach enables us to strive for this, always, while also advocating for citizen users to create public sector services that work for everyone." Read the 2024 report on our website: https://lnkd.in/gbrFUkSD Thanks for a great 2024, everyone! 👏👋 #PublicSector #TechForGood #CivicTech #CitizenEngagement #LocalGov #PublicService #ProDemocracy

It's 'bin' great to progress through the second phase of our ongoing waste transformation project with the London Borough of Bexley, using our WasteWorks solution integrated with Whitespace Work Software. The second phase has seen us incorporate the ability for residents to use Bexley's dedicated version of WasteWorks to manage bin maintenance requests including: ➕ request a new rubbish or recycling bin 🔁 request a replacement rubbish or recycling bin 🔙 request the removal of an existing bin Residents can already use the service to check their bin days, report missed collections and track the status of their collections. Well done to everyone involved in this project. 👏 Read more on our blog: https://lnkd.in/er9iHu6x #ResidentialWaste #WasteManagement #DigitalTransformation #IntegratedServices #LocalGov

As an SME belonging to a charity, we couldn't achieve any of the things we do with our public sector clients without our amazing and hardworking team. That includes our board of directors, who give their time and expertise on a voluntary basis. In the first of a new series on our blog, Sally Bracegirdle chats to Anna Scott-Trimble, one of our non-executive directors, to find out more about her and what brought her to SocietyWorks. From global development and human rights, to journalism and user-centred design, Anna brings so much experience to SocietyWorks that helps us to provide the best possible service and technology to the councils and other public sector bodies we work with - we're very lucky to have her! A huge thank you to Anna for speaking to us and sharing her story! 🙏 There's a link to our conversation with Anna in the comments. 👇 Keep an eye out for more conversations coming up in 2025!

As seen on TV! 🤩 Our lovely colleague Zarino Zappia will be on BBC Morning Live this morning talking about mySociety's national FixMyStreet service and how it can help members of the public to report uneven pathways, as well as other local problems, to the people who can fix them. FixMyStreet is of course the open source platform upon which our FixMyStreet Pro solution is built, enabling councils and other public bodies to use the software as their own and create a truly joined up reporting service. Tune in from 9:30am! #CitizenEngagement #CivicTech #OpenSource #LocalGov
We'll be watching with eager anticipation from 09:30 today - at some point during BBC Morning Live, our Zarino Zappia will be talking about #FixMyStreet and how you can report uneven pavements! https://lnkd.in/eCtRmdGh
