2-Star Hotels in Blanding

Aa others have said, it is a 1954 hotel designed by a Frank Lyod Wright student. Small rooms (1954 hotel remember), but recently renovated, and everything you need. Just a really different experience and a step back in time. Fun stay and would recommend for a great night sleep.

Do not be put off by the broken sign out front on the highway. My family and I greatly enjoyed our unusually large room, fitted out with beautiful pine walls and ceiling. We were three adults, heavily packed, who appreciated spreading out in this ample space. Coffee, orange juice and tea for breakfast as well as a large supply of packaged breakfast bars. The shower was hot and plentiful in amount and pressure. Separate sink gave us privacy from the toilet/shower area. I wish I could recall the number of our room. It was about halfway back the long ”L” before the 90 degree bend of rooms. Couldn't hear highway noise perhaps because we ran the AC. We were quite cool in the heat of Blending. I wish I had taken photos of the pine ceiling and paneling. These kinds of motels are fast disappearing. We will stay here our next drive through Blanding.

Nice hotel, basics were well covered, clean and Quiet. Close to Maverick gas station, location is the best, close to Canyonlands and also Moab, Blanding is such a cool town, great location and quiet, so close to parks and so quiet, loved this hotel, will definetely be back

For our needs, being on a roadtrip through the Southwest and needing a base in Blanding, this (no frills) place offered all we needed. The room - though with outdated furniture etc. - provided a lot of space (enough to do yoga and repack), the fridge was nice and big, the water worked well, the bed was comfy and it was quiet enough. The ice maker worked impeccably. Breakfast was ok - no waffles or pancakes but bagels, toast, yogurt, coffee, tea, apples, orange juice, oatmeal and cornflakes. A well-stocked supermarket is a short walk across the street, a petrol station is nearby and for dinner we went to the Homestead Steakhouse which is probably the only sit-down restaurant in Blanding and it didn’t disappoint.

There was a time when you could travel across the United States and stay in places like this, ones that were unique and reflected the owners of beliefs in how customers should be treated. The Stone Lizard Lodge carries that philosophy into today. Comfortable rooms with a western style of decor, friendly and efficient people with whom to deal, and beautiful grounds carefully maintained and reflecting the personal touch of our hosts. After being on the road for a good number of days, I really needed this place, and it exceeded my expectations. How often does that happen anymore? Although rooms are weirdly spread across the lot, this hotel was a great finding! Rooms are decorated with a modern style and are spacious. Bathroom has a good size (the only downside is the bathroom light, ther is one of those ´presence´lights and would go off in the middle of shower, generating big laughs among my family members, as we had to scream to someone to open the door and wave the hand in from of the sensor! Breakfast is very good and there is an available pool. Reception folks were one of the nicest folks I have ever checked-in/out with! Right accross the street there is a good restaurant (cannot remember the name though). This is a certain stay if you want peace, great/clean rooms and nice service!
