The quality of food and the welcoming behavior of the staff stand out as highlights, creating a positive experience overall. However, enhancing the level of cleanliness could further elevate the environment and provide a more comfortable setting for guests. A focus on maintaining higher cleanliness standards would complement the great food and friendly service, making the experience truly outstanding.
I recently stayed at this hotel and found it to be average overall. The size of the room was quite small, especially considering the price point, which felt a bit high for what was offered. Additionally, none of the charging points in the room were working, which was quite inconvenient. On the plus side, the location is extremely good, providing easy access to local attractions and amenities. However, the room's size and lack of functional charging points were notable downsides.
It was very comfortable stay at victoria hotel, kolkata. I found the loaction very convenient which is easily accessible to public transport, malls, super markets and some good restaurants. When i reached at victoria hotel, they greeted me with welcome drink and quickly completes my check-in process. When i entered the room it looks very well maitained, neat and clean washroom, beautiful furnitures, with all amenities working properly. Here i also enjoyed delicious lunch from their restaurant and they had good choice of bar menu too. The hotel staffs are very polite, attentive and helpful. I really loved the hotel.

The door of the room which they had provided me was not opening then they have changed our room by saying that ”your room is upgraded and we are providing you the premium room. After few hours when were sleeping after a long flight they were asking us to change the room, i told them we'll do it later but still they were asking us to change next day when we asked to change it then they said that we don't have to change we can stay in the same room. But the point is when we were sleeping after a long journey they were asking us the change the room immediately. Hence earlier they said that our room is upgraded rather then that the stay was nice and the condition of the room was good. I would like to suggest them to make the menu prices down to avoid their guest to eat outside.
The rooms were huge and very clean. The good nature d staff were an icing on the cake. The location was good too. It was quite close to tourist attractions.
The hotel room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was pretty good. The best part of the hotel was the staff. They were very friendly and very accommodating. Would definitely recommend for anyone who wants to rest before / after a flight.
It is a huge property. Rooms are big and airy. Staff are too good. Food is delicious. Little bit maintenance needed. It was completely fine with me for which i extended my stay here. Very prompt service. Finally, very safe place. I would recommend this place to my friends.
Very friendly staff and good location. Although 3 stars is a bit high. It is rather 2,5 stars. Breakfast was a good start of the day, continental and Indian. Room was small and old, ac noisy. But who cares; you don’t go to Kolkata to stay in your room. On the roof was a terrace where you can eat and drink. All in all great stay. Will definitely come back next time

Excellent
SSinghVikasThe room I stayed in was spacious, clean, and well-maintained. The bed was comfortable, and I had a great night's sleep. The bathroom was modern and equipped with all the necessary amenities.Overall, my stay at Taj City Centre New Town was excellent and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kolkata.
SShree Vardhan MundhraCheck in was smooth and quick. I was escorted to my room. The room was well appointed, clean and house keeping did a good job. The hotel took care of an issue with slightly faulty bathroom faucets as well. Overall, a nice stay.
AAmanI shall start from arrival at the hotel. We were a family of four who had booked two rooms at the property. We arrived around 14:30 Hrs (at least 30 mins after the designated check-in time). First of all, although the check-in desk at the hotel is quite huge, there were only 3 staff members manning the desk, all of them occupied. We had to wait for around 15 mins, looking here and there like ****** with our bags on before someone greeted us. And I do not mind waiting for check-in; what I do mind is that despite multiple staff members seeing us wait, not one of them acknowledge our presence and asked us to take a seat and wait. They would all look at us and carry on. Forget a warm smile, forget a namaste, we were made to feel like fools just standing there without anyone attending to us. When we finally did get a chance to check in, we were given two adjacent rooms. The key to one room was handed over to us, and we were told that the second room is not ready yet and that as soon as it is ready the key would be sent to us in our room. We said okay and moved towards our room. Once in our room, all four of us sat waiting in one room for around 45 mins for the key to the second room. We were not able to unpack because we wanted to unpack in our respective rooms. Tired and hungry, we left the hotel to get ourselves some lunch and some sightseeing, hoping that by the time we return our second room would be ready. When we returned and asked for the key to the second room from the reception desk, we were told that the room that was allocated to us had been now given to someone else -- and we were given some other room that was ”close” to the first room. I understand that asking for adjacent rooms is a mere request and not a right. But had we been given a ”close” room earlier, we could have gotten the keys earlier at the time of check-in! We waited for a room for so long, only for it to be given to someone else.
Fast forward to the next morning's breakfast. The spread was quite good and quite diverse in variety. However, again the entire staff at the breakfast looked tense for some reason. And they kept messing up with live counter orders. No one had a smile on, no one welcomed you with warmth, and no one made you feel as if you were staying in a 5-star hotel (which The Lalit considers itself to be).
Our entire experience with The Lalit was below par at the very least. It was not the kind of experience you would expect from a branded property that so conveniently calls itself a luxury 5-star property. I honestly feel for the money that I paid, I could and should have gotten a different property and that would have been definitely better. For the foreseeable future, and till things change, I do not see myself staying at any Lalit property.
GGuest UserWe usually stay here when stopping over in Kolkata as it's conveniently located. You can catch an Uber to the airport for around 150 rupees. It's located next to a supermarket and just down the road is a nice shopping center. The staff were very attentive and helpful even though it was a busy time.
GGuest UserIt was a pleasant and beautiful experience with you, the staff was awesome and cooperative. The service of food and house-keeping was marvelous. It's a memorable stay with you and i hope i will enjoy the same in future
GGuest UserHotel is nearby birla school, mint o park. Park street and Arselan biryani ( park circus) is walkable distance. Theater road join birla platarium. Rate is quite high on the basis of service. Breakfast is not good. Charging for drinking water. Restaurant was full of hukka lover in the evening. Smoke is everywhere in restaurant.
TTanjilHonestly speaking, the hotel was great. The location was a bit far from the airport, BUT it is located at one of the cleanest places in Kolkata, making it a huge plus. Now for the details:
Room: 5/5. The decoration, the ambiance, the wall art.
Lobby and other places: 5/5. Absolutely loved the design and hotel architecture.
Bathroom: 3.5/5. Honestly, it is a basic bathroom, but I expected more from a 5 star hotel, even on the cheaper rooms. There was no bathtub, which I feel is fairly common everywhere I’ve stayed in.
ONE PROBLEM: A major issue I have faced was after turning on the water. It had a smell, which I am guessing is from the river beside it. I feel like the Hotel should add a water filter to avoid this problem, because the smell doesn’t go away until the water is turned on for at least 5-10minutes. If I wasn’t South Asian, I probably couldn’t have taken the smell as easily as I did. I would put this in High Priority to fix for attracting many more customers.
Bar and Food: 4/5. Good collection, great taste but very expensive.
Lastly, a shoutout to Al Jabbar and Al Sahid from the Housecleaning service, they were extremely polite, fast, very thorough with their cleaning and very well mannered. Absolutely a delight to talk to and learn about the local areas.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again. Very rare to find such good hotels, with some minor flaws.
