The Falstaff Hotel & Restaurant Ramsgate

Overall this is a nice hotel, behind a very unassuming frontage. Our room (room 1) was large and comfortable. Internally the part of the hotel where the bedrooms are looks like it's been refurbished or redecorated quite recently, because everything was clean and smart. The rooms are furnished in a very elegant sort of style, with lots of wood around. There's a classy looking ”lounge” on the first floor. The staff were all friendly. There's a car park (payable) just a minute or two's walk away. The hotel is in a great location. A couple of *******, hence the 4 stars... breakfast really wasn't good. The room price includes a ”continental” breakfast, which is toast, a croissant, a choice of two or three cereals, ham, cheese, fruit juice and tea or coffee. It really is very minimalist, and for the price of the room I would expect a better breakfast. Yes, you can pay for hot dishes or a cooked breakfast, prepared in the deli that's next door but is part of the same establishment, and I'm sure it's very good. But you shouldn't have to pay. Strangely there isn't a menu on the tables, only in the bedroom. It all seemed very odd, especially as I can see there are past reviews criticising the breakfast. Secondly, we were staying for two nights, and expected the room to be made up on the second day, but it wasn't. Again I can see other reviews saying the same thing. I don't know if they *never* service the rooms, or only rarely. We were certainly not told in advance that the room would not be made up. It wasn't a big issue, but again seemed strange. But apart from those two negatives, I'd recommend the Falstaff for a comfortable and well-located place to stay for a visit to Ramsgate.
Albion House at Ramsgate

Overall a comfortable few days stay. As others have reported it has character and the rooms are fairly comfortable. Our room was sold as having a sea view; It was certainly possible to sea the sea but sideways and also a very busy road. There was no hanging space and pretty noisy due to the road . The restaurant varied with decent cooking but patchy service especially at breakfast. The cooked dishes were good but came on one plate including the toast. There was no fruit available, we had to ask for marmalade and on one morning I had to get up several times to call the waitress who brought the wrong breakfast and then was standing at the bar glued to her phone. My biggest complaint is regarding the poor information about parking. I was prepared to pay to park in the nearby car park but having found a space could find no evidence of being able to pay for 24 hours which I was told was possible before booking The receptionist said she knew nothing about this The parking space opposite the hotel is just 6 spaces which were permanently occupied and the free parking on the same street is a minimum of 550 yards away and probably further in high season. I t wouldn't do for anyone who finds it hard to walk a distance. I did write to the General manager about this poor information but haven't had a response.
The Royal Harbour Hotel

Pleasant, character hotel overlooking the harbour. Friendly staff. warm rooms and bathroom smart and clean. Nice shower. We had a family room which overlooked the back not the harbour. The stairs are steep and not for the elderly and four flights up. The boys liked the room and hotel. The garden Furniture looked a bit dated and the fridge for the min bar needed a clean. Pleasant hotel, check which room you are getting and nice view of the harbour from the sitting room. Middle price range. Handy for Ramsgate. We enjoyed our weekend. Minor things the uht milk cartons had gone off and no biscuits supplied with the tea - I'm GF anyway but might have been nice gesture and for the boys. Lots of lovely towels and very clean beds and had a good nights sleep. There was a chair in the room which was handy but could have done with more coat hangers for a family room. The offered to let us leave our luggage for the day if we needed after checking out. Nice of them :-)
