We cruised through the Three Gorges and found them beautiful and fascinating to see. Our trip included a small boat excursion up a side channel, which was quite lovely. The scenery reminded me somewhat of the Milford Sound, with the mountains plunging directly into the river. The water level was raised about 170 meters by the dam project, displacing 1.3 million residents.

From the boat we transferred to a ferry and then when the gorges became smaller as we headed up stream we switched to a sampan. There is little doubt that some of the attractions along the sampan tour are staged but that doesn't mean they are bad and the scenery is pretty special. The cliff burial caves are also interesting

Strongly recommend route B! Super fun, and there are very few people!
I bought a 75 RMB round-trip direct bus ticket, boarding at the central bus station, which is very convenient as there is no need to transfer.
Departing at 9:00, I arrived at the scenic area around 10:40. After walking a bit, the boat ride for route A starts, and route B begins today's hiking journey! The walk to the end is about 3.6km, and there are signposts (P10) all the way. The endpoint is Ruanlang Return (P11). Taking photos along the way, I walked relatively fast and didn't stop to rest, so it took me about two hours to reach the end. The scenery along the way is really nice! There are many butterflies, and some even land on you (P8 P9).
After finishing route B, you can take the boat back. But since it was still early, I went to climb Xianrenzhai, which is quite tiring as it is almost entirely made of steps, with the highest point being inside a karst cave (P2). The whole journey takes about forty to fifty minutes. After climbing Xianrenzhai, taking the boat means going straight back to the ferry's ticket gate.
I really strongly recommend route B! I only encountered four people along the entire route, and 98% of the time I was alone, which made taking photos quite easy. I went by myself, and even placing my phone on a rock to take pictures turned out great! Being alone is really relaxing, and Qingjiang Gallery is so beautiful, it's worth a visit!

⚠️ Apart from the paid camping bases, the rest of the potential camping sites are local villagers' pastures. To avoid unnecessary trouble, it's recommended to communicate well! Also, there is no water source at the campsite, so you need to bring your own water up the mountain! Remember to take your trash out of the mountain!
🚗 (2) Transportation. It's about a three and a half hour drive from Jingzhou. The camping base is about 5 kilometers away from Mu Xing Manor, which you can see! The spot where we camped was found after consulting with the owner of Mu Xing Manor!
(3) Hiking itinerary. There are no hiking trails here, as it's all local pastures. Our small team walked along the mountain ridge, watching the sea of clouds, grasslands, and coniferous forests! The loop distance is about 8 kilometers, with no difficulty!
(4) The altitude at the mountain top is 1900+, and the current seasonal nighttime temperature is 5-10 degrees. Be sure to keep warm and protect against the wind!
The Qingjiang Gallery is as picturesque as a painting
Check into the Argyle Happy Gathering Hotel in the city one day in advance, where parking is available at the door, and enjoy the wake-up service from the front desk lady in the morning. Had breakfast at the hotel, the hotel's breakfast has both Western and Chinese options, I was really spoilt for choice After breakfast, drove to Qingjiang Gallery.
Upon arriving at Qingjiang Gallery, I truly experienced the essence of 'Eight hundred miles of Qingjiang are as picturesque as a painting, with three hundred miles of gallery in Changyang', feeling what it's like to be in the scenery, as if walking in a painting~ In the afternoon, I saw a local folk performance, which was quite distinctive, and personally, I think it's well worth watching. Just need to arrange enough time. Otherwise, it's easy to miss out.
Back at the hotel, it was almost time for dinner, there are plenty of good places to eat around the hotel, solved dinner and came back to lie flat and binge-watch shows, I must say the bed in this hotel is really comfortable, lying down to properly relieve the fatigue of a day's play.

Travel agencies usually choose Route A, which is the large loop shown in the last picture. We chose the smaller loop of Route B, climbed the mountain for about an hour, shouted through the mountains, passed through the Tujia tactical formation, enjoyed the aerial walk and bicycle performance, went to the Tanhua Lang dock, took a boat through the Xianrenzhai scenic area without disembarking, and returned directly to the dock, a round trip of two hours.

1. The ticket used the Hubei Huimin card, which is written for Route A, but Route B can also be chosen on site, and the boat ticket purchased on site is 55 yuan, with different tickets.

Departing from Wuhan by high-speed train, it only takes a weekend to check in at Yichang, which is very suitable for those who don't have much time for long-distance travel around Wuhan.
🚗 The Qingjiang Gallery is quite far from the downtown area of Yichang, about 1h by car, so it's necessary to plan for car rental or pickup service in advance.
🚢 From the entrance to the inside of the scenic area, you can only take a boat, mainly divided into A and B routes. The A route is almost entirely by boat (round trip about 2.5h), and the B route requires walking about 3km to reach the main scenic area before taking the return trip. The boat has two ordinary cabins inside, and there are booth seats on the top deck (extra tickets required). When we went on the weekend, it was basically full, which can be a bit stuffy, but there is a river breeze outside the cabin, super cool!
🥣 After reaching the main scenic area, you can see many farmstays, but eating there means climbing a very steep slope, so wear comfortable clothing. The taste of Yichang cuisine is quite similar to Sichuan cuisine, with a dish of stir-fried tofu skin (？), very fragrant! After eating, continue climbing up to see the Bell and Drum Tower, overlooking the Qingjiang River.
🎤 After the return trip, you can watch a performance in the theater, about 45min, the performers are very professional and dedicated, and the content is all about the local folk song performances.
The day we went was a sunny day, very sunny. Personally, I think the Qingjiang Gallery is more suitable for rainy and foggy days, it would definitely be more beautiful!

A treasure of a guesthouse was discovered around Yichang. It's a 50-minute drive from Yichang city center, and you'll see this Qing She Guesthouse when you travel along National Highway 318, located on a small island. The surrounding area is the Qingjiang Gallery! You need to take a speedboat, and there is a butler specially to pick up and drop off guests to the island! Prime river views, and the Qingjiang River is right at the guesthouse's doorstep. The guesthouse also offers a coffee shop, restaurant, afternoon tea, and music guitar.

Today, I almost made a mistake because I remembered that it is at least 260 kilometers from Enshi to Yichang, but the navigation today directed me from the City of Daughters to 'Qingjiang Gallery' for only 123 kilometers. When I arrived at Cuiba Service Area, I suddenly realized that the distance seemed too short, so I re-navigated to 'Changyang Qingjiang Gallery,' and then drove another 169 kilometers from Cuiba Service Area to Changyang Qingjiang Gallery.
