Min Meticulous Craftsmanship—Fuzhou Traditional Craftsmanship Exhibition in Beijing

There is an exhibition at the China National Arts and Crafts Museum and China Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum that introduces the arts and crafts of Fuzhou, a city with a long history. Fuzhou, formerly known as Min, is a city with the reputation of "Zou Lu by the Sea", surrounded by mountains on three sides, facing the sea on one side, with the Min River running through it, and two towers standing opposite each other. It has been a place of cultural gathering since ancient times. Fuzhou's exquisite traditional arts and crafts make this historical and cultural city shine and famous. Countless craftsmen, with their persistent pursuit of beauty, have been deeply rooted in the fertile soil of craftsmanship with their perseverance. They have not only inherited the ingenuity of thousands of years, but also dared to explore in the process of keeping the right and innovating, injecting new life and vitality into traditional crafts, making them still vibrant in modern society. "Min Mountains and Min Waters, New Things" This exhibition brings together the most representative crafts of Fuzhou, with colorful lacquer art, warm and elegant Shoushan stone carvings, exquisite wood carvings, and delicate cork paintings, to comprehensively showcase Fuzhou's traditional crafts. Among them, Shoushan stone carving, Fuzhou bodiless lacquerware painting and decoration techniques, and cork painting are national intangible cultural heritage representative projects, and Fuzhou wood carving (Xiangyuan) is a provincial intangible cultural heritage representative project. Hundreds of carefully selected masterpieces are not only the crystallization of craftsmen's hard work, but also a vivid interpretation of the rich cultural expression and creativity of the Chinese nation. Each piece carries the long-standing cultural history of Fuzhou and the extraordinary wisdom of craftsmen, either grand and magnificent, reflecting the spirit of the times, or gentle and moving, telling the story of human life, together painting a magnificent picture that vividly reflects the changes in Chinese society. The exhibition is divided into "Lacquer Colorful Chapter Painting Min", "Heavenly Heritage Treasures Born in Min", "Exquisite Carving Reflecting Three Mountains", and "Exquisite Carving Shining Left Sea".
