Tibetan Buddhism: Originated in the 7th century during the Tubo Dynasty, it was introduced to Tibet from Indian Buddhism and integrated with local religion, culture, and ethnic characteristics. It formed four unique sects: Nyingma, Kagyu, Sakya, and Gelug. Han Buddhism: Originated in the 1st century during the Eastern Han Dynasty, it was also introduced to China from Indian Buddhism. During its development in China, it gradually formed eight sects: Sanlun, Weishi, Tiantai, Huayan, Chan, Pure Land, Esoteric, and Vinaya. Tibetan Buddhism: Focuses more on the promotion of Tibetan religious totems, which are characterized by being large, full, and multi-angled. The depiction of Buddha statues appears solemn and cold, sometimes even terrifying. Han Buddhism: Focuses more on the promotion of the Buddha, Dharma protectors, and patriarchs. The depiction of Buddha statues emphasizes gentleness, highlighting the Buddha's inner gentleness and compassion. Tibetan Buddhism and Han Buddhism have significant differences in many aspects. These differences are not only reflected in the doctrinal system, practice methods, and ritual styles, but also profoundly influence their respective cultural heritage and social life.
