The Borobudur Temple Compounds (Candi Borobudur) is located in Central Java, Indonesia, and is one of the most important Buddhist buildings in the world 🎍. It consists of three temples, which are believed to have been built by the Shailendra dynasty in the 8th–9th centuries 🛕. The temples are located on a hill surrounded by mountains 🌳. There are many interpretations of the meaning of its name, which may be related to the mountaintop Buddhist temple or Brahmin pagoda 🤔. Borobudur has 10 platforms, with the first to seventh platforms being square and the eighth to tenth platforms being circular 🔼. The top platform has 72 bell-shaped stupas, through the diamond-shaped holes of which you can see the Buddha statues inside 🗽. This is a Mahayana Buddhist building, which differs from Theravada Buddhism in its concept of universal salvation 🎎. The 10 platforms may represent the ten stages of a bodhisattva's progress, or they may be divided according to the three realms of Buddhism 🙏. In addition, there are about 2,670 reliefs and 504 Buddha statues, which depict the life of the Buddha, Buddhist stories, and more 📜.
