Mount Hua: A Must-Visit

“Since ancient times, there has only been one path up Mount Hua, the most dangerous mountain in the world.” Out of breath on the way up, legs shaking on the way down. Traveling is more rewarding than reading! 🎫Tickets: Tickets can be purchased on the official Mount Hua WeChat account or other online platforms. Tickets are CNY 160. In addition to the Mount Hua ticket, you may also need a cable car ticket and a shuttle bus ticket. You can choose a suitable package based on your route. 🚄Transportation: You can stay at the foot of Mount Hua the day before, as hotels are not expensive. Alternatively, you can take a high-speed train from Xi’an to Mount Hua in the morning, or take a tourist bus from Xi’an. I chose Qin Zhi Feng Travel, which costs CNY 98 per person for a round trip (I also took this bus to the Terracotta Warriors). 🚶Route: The North-to-West and West-to-North routes are the most common. The North Peak is steeper, while the West Peak is gentler. Some people prefer to go up the steep route and down the gentle route, while others prefer the opposite. It’s up to you. If you want my advice, I recommend going up the North Peak and down the West Peak. Going downhill is harder on the knees, and the sense of happiness is greater when you go through the hard part first. If you’re not a soldier, I recommend taking the cable car. The North Peak cable car costs CNY 80, and the West Peak cable car costs CNY 140. 👔Clothing: I recommend wearing windproof and warm clothing. It’s even better if you wear quick-drying clothes underneath. You don’t have to wear a windbreaker. I wore a down jacket with a sweater underneath, which was light and warm. If you sweat easily, it’s best to wear quick-drying clothes underneath. Remember to bring a hat. A hooded jacket or a hat will do, as the wind can give you a headache. 🍔Food: There are limited food options on the mountain, so I recommend bringing your own food. Self-heating pots are a good choice, as you can enjoy a hot meal. Bring a thermos, as regular food and water will become refrigerator temperature on the mountain. Don’t bring too much food and water, or it will become a burden. 🎒Backpack: Bring a backpack, as other bags will become a burden. Don’t look at the scenery while walking, and don’t walk while looking at the scenery. Mount Hua is steep, and you can easily sprain your ankle if you don’t pay attention. Going up is hard, but going down is even harder. Be sure to protect your knees on the way down. Protect your phone, as you’ll often be more afraid of dropping your phone than falling yourself. After climbing Mount Hua, get a foot massage in Xi’an to end your trip perfectly.
