Green Lake Park, Kunming

Green Lake Park is mainly composed of several small islands in the lake, connected by small bridges. Entering from the direction of the Military Academy, the first thing you see is the Haixin Pavilion, with four eaves and green glazed tiles. In the 11th year of the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1692), Wang Jiwen, the governor of Yunnan, built the Biyi Pavilion on the island in the center of the lake, erected the Laishuang Building on the north bank of the lake, and built the Haixin Pavilion at the same time. Continue forward to the Guanyu Building. The Guanyu Building was built in the 15th year of the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty (1835) and is a garden with Jiangnan characteristics. In addition to the Guanyu Building, the Biyi Pavilion is also in the garden. The pavilions and buildings in the Guanyu Building Garden complement each other. The ginkgo trees are slightly yellow, and an old man sits in the corner painting a pavilion, painting a full picture of autumn. Next to the Guanyu Building is the Longyun Theater. This was once the Lianhua Zen Temple, which was built in the first year of the Jiaqing reign of the Qing Dynasty (1810). In 1934, Long Yun, then chairman of Yunnan Province, ordered the reconstruction of the temple, which was used as an air force club, hotel, library, etc., and the Longyun Theater in the courtyard was named after him. Today, it has become a commercial place. Cross the Tingying Bridge to the island where the Jiulong Pool is located. In the Yuan Dynasty, there were nine springs here, with abundant water and a pool depth of several meters, so it was named Jiulong Pool. In 1917, Kunming's first water plant was built here, and the pumping station and equipment set up here at that time are still preserved and have been converted into a water museum. This water plant was established with private capital, pumping water from the Jiulong Pool to the Jiuhuashan Filter Pool, filtering it, and then distributing it to the main water pipes in the east, west, south, and north to supply water to the city. The daily water supply at that time was 1,034 cubic meters, and the pumping station was shut down in 1956 due to the drop in the water level of the Jiulong Pool. A water tower-style tower was built next to the Jiulong Pool, which is very eye-catching, and tourists stop here to take photos. Many ducks are raised in the Green Lake, which have become pets and swim to the shore, waiting for people to feed them. Unknowingly, the rain has stopped. Green Lake Park is beautiful, and you will not want to leave.
