The most distinct feature distinguishing Dai from Bulang residences is that the Dai often have multiple eaves with overlapping tiles, while the Bulang usually have single eaves, with a common decoration of one bud and two leaves at the flying eaves. The stilted houses have livestock on the first floor and living quarters on the second. A hundred years ago, before the use of tile decorations, the residences in Nuogan also used thatched roofs. Tea Frying Tea is the livelihood of every household in Nuogan Ancient Village.
