Magelang, Indonesia

Magelang is located in central Java, Indonesia, on the highlands between Mount Sumbing and Mount Merapi, 40 km north of Yogyakarta. Magelang has many tourist attractions, including: - Borobudur Temple: A world-famous Buddhist temple and one of Indonesia's iconic buildings. It consists of nine platforms, with a square base, six square platforms, and three circular platforms, topped by a large bell-shaped stupa. The temple walls and railings are decorated with exquisite reliefs depicting Buddhist stories and teachings.  - Mount Merapi: One of Indonesia's most active volcanoes. You can enjoy the magnificent view from a safe observation point. There are hiking trails nearby, but you need a professional guide. At the foot of the mountain, there are ruins of villages destroyed by volcanic eruptions, where you can see volcano-related scenery and stories.  - Magelang Old Town: It retains many old buildings, such as Dutch colonial houses, traditional Indonesian mosques and temples, etc. There are specialty shops on both sides of the street, where you can experience traditional Indonesian lifestyles and local culture.
