Transportation • External transportation: Take a high-speed train to Pingyao Ancient City Station, then take a taxi or Bus 108 to the city; or take a train to Pingyao Station, which is close to the ancient city, about a 10-minute walk. • Internal transportation: Walking is the most convenient way to get around the ancient city, but you can also take an electric car or rent a bicycle. Tickets Entry to the ancient city is free, but you can buy a pass for CNY 125 per person to visit the attractions, or buy tickets separately. Attractions • Must-see attractions: The city wall offers a bird's-eye view of the ancient city; the county government office has regular court performances; Rishengchang is the first bank in China; Dacheng Hall in the Confucian Temple is a Jin Dynasty building; the City God Temple is a combination of three temples; Xietongqing has the largest underground vault. • Other attractions: South Street has Xietongqing, the City Tower, etc.; West Street has Rishengchang, Yutaohou, etc.; East Street has the First Escort Agency in North China, etc.; North Street has Erlang Temple. Notes The ancient city has many stone roads, so wear comfortable shoes; some attractions require separate tickets, so plan ahead; avoid peak times during holidays and weekends; and protect the ancient buildings.
