Jinji Lake: Nature Realm in The Heart of Industrial Zone

#voyagevibes Jingji Lake is located in the central part of the Suzhou Industrial Park, Jiangsu Province, China, it was once part of the vast Taihu Lake. Now Jingji Lake has become China's largest urban lake and park and a symbol of the "new paradise on earth" in Suzhou City. It is 1.8 square kilometers larger than the West Lake in Hangzhou City, covers an area of 7.18 square kilometers, and its average depth ranges from 2.5 to 3 meters. There is a legend that once on the lake, a golden chicken fell onto a boat with a lot of rice, the golden chicken started eating rice, and the fishermen saw it, they were scared, as they had never seen a chicken of such a large size, so they continued to feed it rice. After the chicken had eaten enough and flew back into the sky and sowed seeds on the ground next to the lake, the locals gathered food and renamed the lake Jingji Lake. There are two artificial islands on the lake. The design work in the lake area was carried out by EDAW, a US architectural firm that has worked with Disney theme parks, there are several picturesque places with their own unique characteristics and charm. Furthermore, Ligondi, or Ligong Road, a picturesque historical dam with a total length of 1400 meters, built along the famous Jingji Lake, was named after the surname "Li" of its creator Li Chaoqiong during the reign of Emperor Guangxi of the Qing Dynasty. It is the main coastal recreation and entertainment area with various tourist resources and thriving streets of catering and bars, which has become one of the most important attractions of Suzhou. Jingji Lake, located in the east of Suzhou, is the largest urban lake park in China. It is a symbol of Suzhou as a “New Paradise on Earth” where people can enjoy their leisure time and a beautiful wide view of the lake. Jingji means “golden rooster” in Chinese; this lake was so named because, according to legend, a golden rooster once fell into the lake from heaven.
