Taiyuan Ancient County Town, a city with over 600 years of history, is located in today's Jinyuan District of Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province. It was first built in the eighth year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1375 AD) on the ruins of the ancient city of Jinyang. It inherited the ancient architectural layout of Jinyang Ancient City, known as the 'Phoenix City' due to its unique shape. Taiyuan Ancient County Town follows the architectural style of Jinyang Ancient City, with four main streets extending from the intersection of the cross streets, and a well-developed street and alley texture. The city boasts a rich historical and cultural heritage, including 79 historical relics such as the Confucian Temple, a national protection unit, and the Qin Family Courtyard, a provincial protection unit, as well as more than 300 various buildings such as city walls, temples, government offices, shops, etc. These relics not only witness the historical changes of Taiyuan during the Song and Ming dynasties but also become the cultural context and spiritual support for the development of Taiyuan City. After years of restoration and protection, Taiyuan Ancient County Town reopened on May 1, 2021, becoming a historical and cultural block that showcases the integration of traditional culture and modern art.
