Tengchong, the Land of Geothermal Springs, the Top Border City, is located at the southern end of the Hengduan Mountains. The Gaoligong Mountains extend from the Nujiang River to Tengchong. The weather is sunny and warm in winter and spring, and cool and pleasant in summer and autumn. Tengchong is an important gateway and hub for China to South Asia and Southeast Asia. It borders Myanmar to the west and is 200 km from Myitkyina, Myanmar. Tengchong is located on the Southwest Silk Road, which has a history of 2,400 years. Since the Tang and Song Dynasties, the Yunnan-Tibet Tea Horse Road, which runs through Sichuan, Yunnan, Tibet, and Southeast Asia, began to take shape. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the people of Tengchong built the Stilwell Road to support the war. The Hump Route flew over Tengchong, and the Hump Airport opened in 2009. Heshun Ancient Town is located 4 km southwest of Tengchong City. It is a famous hometown of overseas Chinese in Yunnan. For more than 600 years, Central Plains culture, Western culture, Nanzhao culture, and border culture have collided here, forming a unique overseas Chinese culture and caravan culture. Heshun Ancient Town is built along the mountains and rivers. It is one of the top ten charming towns in China. It has the largest rural library in China, Heshun Library, the hometown of a great philosopher, Ai Siqi Memorial Hall, Yuanlong Pavilion, which combines three religions, the grand Liu Ancestral Hall and Li Ancestral Hall, Wenchang Palace, Heshun Alley, Heshun Residential Buildings, and many alleys. There are also more than 100 Qing Dynasty houses, which combine Chinese and Western architecture. This self-driving tour from Xi'an to Langzhong, Ya'an, Xichang, Dali, and Tengchong. We stayed at the Tengchong Century Jinyuan Hotel in Tengchong and visited the Hot Sea Big Boiling Pot, Tengchong Volcanoes, Simola Wa Village, and Heshun Ancient Town twice. We had a great time and will definitely come back to Tengchong if we have the chance. Next stop, go to Tengchong Hump Airport and fly to Kunming.
