Free entry to Everest Base Camp in winter! Amazing!

🗺 The itinerary is to rent a car in Lhasa and drive through Yamdrok Lake and Karola Glacier to Shigatse, then drive from Shigatse to Lhatse and Dingri, pass Gyatso La Pass, see the five peaks of the Gawu La Range, drive the 108 bends, stay in Tashizong's Everest Town, and take the sightseeing bus to Everest Base Camp. 🩷 In winter, the CNY 160 ticket is free, but the CNY 120 (round-trip) eco-friendly bus ticket is still required. If your ID card is from Shanghai, Shandong, Jilin, or Heilongjiang, you can get all tickets for free, which is said to be because these provinces have supported Tibet before. You can change to the bus at Tashizong, and the bus will pick you up and drop you off along the way, stopping at each hotel to pick you up and drop you off. After we checked in, we told the owner what time we were leaving, and he contacted the bus to pick us up. We just had to pay for the ticket on the bus, which was very convenient. However, the last bus down the mountain in winter is at 19:30, and the sunset is at 19:00, so you have to go down the mountain after watching the sunset, which is very rushed. 💚 A border pass is required, and you need to show it when buying tickets. We got ours in Shigatse, and we only needed to provide our ID card. The pass is valid for one month, and it took about 20 minutes to queue. The pass was issued immediately, which was very convenient. 🩵 Everest accommodation: The tents at the base camp have been removed because it's too cold. Some accommodations cost more than CNY 600, which is not expensive in the off-season, but the conditions are said to be very poor. We stayed at the foot of the mountain, at a place called Top View, which is at an altitude of 4,100 meters. It was okay, with underfloor heating and oxygen supply, and cost more than CNY 200 per room. However, the sunset time was too rushed. Next time, I will choose to stay at the camp! 🧡 Check in at the 8,848-meter monument: There were too many people in line. There is also Rongbuk Monastery and a post office on the mountain, but I didn't have time to go, which was a pity. I won't choose to check in at the monument again in the future. I suggest either going up the mountain early (we went up at 17:00, which was too late) or staying at the camp for one night. Get the border pass early. We spent time getting the border pass in the morning and didn't leave until 11:00. I'll know next time. ❤ About altitude sickness: We had been playing at an altitude of 3,000–4,000 meters before, so we didn't have much of a reaction and didn't need much oxygen. So we each took a can of oxygen to Everest, as well as motion sickness patches and Snickers bars. Everything else was fine, and we didn't use them much. I suggest getting used to the altitude before going there. Don't suddenly go up to an altitude of 5,000 meters.
