Yunshenbuzhichu | Jiangxia Bafenshan Ciyun Temple

| Jiangxia Bafenshan Ciyun Temple. Ciyun Temple, originally named Lingji Nan, was founded in the first year of the Tang Dynasty's Zhenguan era (627 AD). It stands proudly on Zhifang Street in Jiangxia District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, backed by the majestic Bafenshan Mountain. On this ancient land, the "Jiankang Record" states: "The land of Wuchang, though the mountains are majestic, the forests are not lush. At first glance, it seems suitable for settling down, but over time, it feels desolate; this Bafenshan Mountain, with its mountain range resembling the character 'eight,' though not reaching the number 'nine,' has its own mysteries between heaven and earth." In those days, Bafenshan Mountain stretched endlessly, its mountain range like a giant dragon lying on the waves, winding and majestic, with lush vegetation and misty clouds, praised as the "top natural landscape of Wuhan." On this spiritual land, Ciyun Temple resembles a celestial palace descending from the sky, blending harmoniously with the mountains. Its architecture is exquisite, with carved beams and painted rafters, flying eaves and upturned corners, appearing and disappearing in the mist, truly a fairyland on earth. Throughout history, Ciyun Temple has received the favor of many emperors. Tang Taizong Li Shimin, admiring its tranquility and elegance, issued an edict to protect it; Song Dynasty's Emperor Xiaozong Zhao Shen and Emperor Guangzong Zhao Dun also successively bestowed titles, regarding it as a royal dojo, providing generous support and visiting it multiple times, making it famous far and wide. Over the years, Ciyun Temple has weathered storms and changes, yet still stands tall, witnessing the rise and fall of dynasties, becoming a cultural treasure and spiritual sanctuary on the land of China. In modern society, Ciyun Temple is not only a place for many believers to seek spiritual solace but also attracts countless tourists to visit, experiencing the tranquility and solemnity that transcends millennia. Every time the morning glow rises or the sunset sets, standing in front of the temple, gazing at the distant mountains, one cannot help but feel infinite emotions—what a magnificent scenery, and what a long and glorious history!
