Preparation • Clothing: Choose comfortable clothes and shoes as you will be walking a lot. If you visit in summer, take sun protection measures and bring a sun hat, sunscreen, etc. The weather is pleasant in spring and autumn, but the temperature difference between day and night is large, so bring a coat. In winter, wear warm clothes such as thick cotton-padded clothes and down jackets. • ID: Bring your ID card or other valid ID. Students, seniors, and other groups eligible for discounts should bring relevant ID to purchase discounted tickets. Transportation • Public transport: From Xi'an, take Tourist Bus 2 from Xi'an Railway Station, or take the free shuttle bus from the west gate of Tang Paradise. From Baoji, there is a bus to Famen Temple every hour from Baoji Bus Station West Station, and there is also a direct bus from Jichang Street Bus Station. • Self-driving: Drive along the Xi'an–Baoji Expressway and follow the road signs to Famen Temple. There is a parking lot at the scenic area. Tickets • Ticket prices: High season (Mar 1–Nov 30) adult ticket: CNY 100; low season (Dec 1–Feb 28) adult ticket: CNY 90. Students, children, seniors, and other groups are eligible for a 50% discount. • Relic exhibition: The Buddha's finger relic is on display from 10:00 to 16:00 on the 1st and 15th days of each lunar month, weekends, and the Buddha's birthday on the 8th day of the 4th lunar month. Opening hours Open all year round, 08:30–17:00. Recommended attractions • Buddha's Light Avenue: The pilgrimage road to the Namaste Dagoba, with sculptures of the Buddha's holy relics and the origin of the Dharma on both sides. • Famen Temple: The excavation site of rare treasures from the Tang Dynasty. The underground palace is the largest, oldest, and highest-level Tang Dynasty pagoda underground palace in the world. • Famen Temple Museum: A national second-class museum with the theme of Tang Dynasty culture, with many precious cultural relics. Its exhibitions show the profound connotations of Famen Temple's cultural relics. Recommended food The scenic area has the Foguangge Hotel, where you can try vegetarian food, and Shanyuanju Vegetarian Restaurant, which offers buffet and à la carte services. In addition, there are food stalls nearby where you can try local specialties such as lamb paomo, oil tea, and saozi noodles. Reminders • Follow the temple rules, keep quiet, and do not make loud noises. Do not wear revealing or untidy clothes. • Protect the cultural relics and do not touch the exhibits or buildings. • Some areas of the scenic area do not allow photography or flash photography.
