Shanghai | Travel through time to visit the Grand View Garden and enjoy the autumn scenery.
🍁 Don't miss the Grand View Garden in Shanghai this season. It is home to the Grand View Jade Linglong, one of the three wonders of Jiangnan, and a group of ancient and elegant garden buildings.
We entered through the main gate, crossed the Yingbin Bridge, and passed the Qin Fang Gate to reach the Yi Hong Courtyard. This is Jia Baoyu's residence and the most delicately described place in Dream of the Red Chamber. You can immerse yourself in the culture of Dream of the Red Chamber and experience the romance of the Grand View Garden.
Passing through the Qin Fang Pavilion, you will reach the Xiao Xiang Pavilion. It is full of bamboo, symbolizing Lin Daiyu's purity, pride, and talent. Walk along the path, and you will see a huge lotus pond. In summer, it is full of lotus flowers 🌷, and in autumn, many chrysanthemums 🌼 bloom. Therefore, it is also called the Chrysanthemum Fragrance Study.
After visiting the Xiao Xiang Pavilion, walk a few more steps, and you will see a small hill with the words "Winding Path Leading to a Secluded Place" carved on it. Passing through the winding path, you will find a wonderful place called the Heng Wu Courtyard. This is Xue Baochai's residence, a delicate but low-key place in the original novel. Here, you can taste various tea snacks ☕ from Dream of the Red Chamber and experience traditional games such as flower arranging and pot throwing.
🌟 After visiting the Heng Wu Courtyard, you can go to the Long Cui Nunnery, where Miao Yu practiced, to have tea. After tea, you can go to the Yi Hong Courtyard to see the case of the stolen rose dew 🌹 or go to the Dao Xiang Village to settle accounts with Wang Xifeng.
If you are a fan of Dream of the Red Chamber, you can't miss the Grand View Garden in Shanghai, which will bring you closer to the novel. If you want to visit, remember to avoid holidays!

Visiting the Grand View Garden, reminiscing about the human relationships in 'Dream of the Red Chamber'|On the road trip
👍️Recommendation:
Shanghai Grand View Garden is restored according to the descriptions in Cao Xueqin's novel 'Dream of the Red Chamber'. The Jia family is a fictional character, and the Grand View Garden is like a dream.
However, the courtyards here are arranged in an orderly manner, almost identical to the scenes in the novel. So, while strolling through it, you can recall the human relationships depicted in the novel.
Of course, it would be more interesting if you have read the original work or watched the 1986 version of 'Dream of the Red Chamber'. Otherwise, you would just see the grandeur of a wealthy family's estate.
📅Travel Guide:
Take your parents to visit the garden. If your parents have read 'Dream of the Red Chamber', you must take them there. They will supplement the storylines for you, which is also a good opportunity to enhance your relationship with your parents.
The signs in the garden are very clear, and you can easily reach your desired destination by following them.
I accompanied my parents for a two-hour walk. Bring some snacks and water, as it is not easy to buy them inside.
I remember the ticket price is not expensive, 35 yuan per person, and there are discounts for the elderly.
🏨Accommodation Guide:
It is located in Qingpu, and you can stay in nearby homestays or hotels, depending on your budget.
💗Other tips:
As the first theme garden of 'Dream of the Red Chamber', you can bring the original work to take some photos.

My first visit to the Grand View Garden by the Dianshan Lake
The Grand View Garden in Shanghai is located on the west side of Dianshan Lake. The garden is centered around the large lake, with ponds and the Qinfang Stream connecting various scenic spots, forming a water system with main and secondary routes, dynamic and static elements. Pavilions and galleries are set up by the lake, while curved bridges, stone boats, and stone lanterns are placed in the lake. Bridge pavilions are set up over the stream, creating a landscape of layered mountains and water, reminiscent of the classic riverside homes in the south of the Yangtze River.

Shanghai Grand View Garden | An antique garden by the side of Dianshan Lake
The Grand View Garden in Qingpu by the side of Dianshan Lake has been a cultural landscape treasure since the 1980s. Inspired by 'Dream of the Red Chamber', it delicately sketches a series of dreamlike garden scenes. The establishment of landscapes such as the Grand View Tower and the Happy Red Court is a clever interpretation of the essence of the original work. Taking full advantage of the unique water resources of Dianshan Lake, the garden ingeniously integrates large water areas into its design, making the entire garden resemble a lively ink painting, brimming with vitality and energy. Strolling through it, one feels as if they can travel through time and space, immersing themselves in the world of the Red Chamber as depicted by Cao Xueqin.

Visiting Shanghai Grand View Garden, returning to the Dream of the Red Chamber
Shanghai has a special place that is just like the Grand View Garden from 'Dream of the Red Chamber', and it actually exists in reality - the Shanghai Grand View Garden! This place is not only a landscaped scenic area in Shanghai that has been renovated and expanded multiple times, but it is also one of Shanghai's top ten tourism characteristic gardens.
Shanghai Grand View Garden is a super cultural tourism area that combines classical garden architecture, cultural display, and leisure entertainment. It covers a huge area, with beautiful scenery in the garden that varies with the four seasons. The design of the garden integrates the delicacy of southern gardens with the grandeur of northern gardens, possessing both the tenderness of southern water towns and the magnificence of northern royal gardens.
Upon entering the Grand View Garden, the first thing that catches your eye is the well-arranged pavilions and towers, some built by the water, others hidden among flowers and trees, each revealing the breath of classical beauty. The water in the garden's lakes is clear to the bottom, with lotus flowers floating on the surface and weeping willows by the lakeside, resembling a vivid painting. You can also take a boat ride on the lake to experience the tranquility and poetry.

Shanghai | Grand View Garden | An air of ancient charm
This place is beyond amazing‼️ The Red Mansion themed garden 🌿 is really beautiful || 🍀 Shanghai Grand View Garden Travel Guide
🎍
🍀 Introduction
A garden themed on the classic 'Dream of the Red Chamber', featuring architectural attractions such as the 'Grand View of Taixu', the Yihong Courtyard, the Xiaoxiang Pavilion, the Hengwu Courtyard, the Liaofeng Pavilion, and the Daoxiang Village, all delicately carved and elegantly simple. Relying on the scenery of Dianshan Lake, it forms a typical southern Chinese garden landscape with layers of mountains and rivers, and flowing water beside the homes of people.
It's more suitable to visit when there are fewer people - strolling leisurely is not like in a simple park, as each view is quite distinctive!
The garden is great for taking photos! The fragrance of osmanthus is enchanting, with varieties like golden osmanthus, silver osmanthus, and orange osmanthus, making it very suitable for wearing Hanfu and checking in 📸. Dressed in green, against the national style red architecture, the atmosphere is full of stories! You can bring your own fish food or buy it in the garden, and it's quite interesting to feed the fish in the goldfish pond.

Shanghai Grand View Garden | An antique garden designed from the descriptions in Dream of the Red Chamber
Shanghai Grand View Garden is a place well worth visiting, especially during the blooming season of peonies and azaleas. The garden is located by the Dianshan Lake in Qingpu, although it is far from the city, this also makes it relatively quiet. I came here for a visit with an elderly tour group in the morning.
This is a park themed on 'Dream of the Red Chamber', with different attractions such as Xiaoxiang Garden, Hengwu Garden, and Yihong Courtyard, which can showcase the living scenes of the main characters in the book. The arrangement of these scenes is all based on the descriptions in the book, which should be particularly interesting for those who like this book.
Eileen Chang mentioned in 'The Nightmare of the Red Chamber' three things she hated: one is that the shad fish has many thorns, the second is that the begonia is scentless, and the third is that 'Dream of the Red Chamber' is unfinished. She said that the last eighty chapters written by Gao E were like a maggot attached to a camel's tail, which shows how much she hated it.
In general, Shanghai Grand View Garden is a place that makes people feel happy, not only can you appreciate beautiful flowers, but also feel the charm of the classic work 'Dream of the Red Chamber'. Whether you are strolling slowly or watching attentively, you can achieve a sense of inner peace and tranquility. This is definitely a good place for vacation and relaxation.

Just when the mood calls for a shanghai trip!
it happened when I had to travel to shanghai for personal affairs but I ended up on a random street to relax myself.
it’s a must go for everyone. don’t go alone , bring your friends and relax around this area that has a lot of good restaurants to munch in and a lot of cafés to listen to shallow folk stories.
don’t forget to grab a guitar if you can !
or a book ?
or just your pods in case you’re alone and wanna relax yourself there.
this exact location would give you a mixup view of modern and aged era of technology, music and life.
stay tuned for more fun stories and posts! #urbanexplorer
