[Ancient capital of Normandy] Rouen🇫🇷
Rouen is an ancient city in the Normandy region of France🇫🇷. It is a town with a calm atmosphere. The sunset🌆 is also beautiful.
Notre Dame Cathedral in Rouen is famous for its 151m spire, the longest in France, and for being painted by the Impressionist master Monet. It is certainly impressive. .
Rouen is recommended because it has many other must-see spots such as the "Joan of Arc Church" built in the square where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake, and the Rouen Museum of Fine Arts, which has a rich collection of Impressionist works🇫🇷

Rouen: The Heart of Normandy

Rouen, the historic capital of Normandy, is a city rich in art, architecture, and history. As I wandered through its cobbled streets, I was immediately struck by the medieval charm that seems to linger in every corner.
The **Rouen Cathedral** is a must-see. Its gothic spires and intricate details are breathtaking, especially when you consider that Claude Monet painted it multiple times to capture the changing light. Inside, the stained-glass windows add a magical glow. Just around the corner is the **Church of Saint-Maclou**, another gothic masterpiece with its stunning woodwork.
A stroll down **Rue du Gros-Horloge** leads to the famous astronomical clock. Dating back to the 14th century, its golden face shines brilliantly. The street itself is filled with half-timbered houses, giving you a sense of stepping back in time.
**Place du Vieux-Marché** is where Joan of Arc met her tragic fate in 1431. The modern **Church of Saint Joan of Arc** here stands in stark contrast to the surrounding medieval architecture but serves as a poignant reminder of her story.
For art lovers, the **Musée des Beaux-Arts** is a treasure trove, housing works by masters like Monet, Delacroix, and Renoir. The peaceful garden outside is perfect for a quiet moment.
Rouen’s culinary scene is also delightful. I enjoyed the regional specialties, especially **Normandy cider** and **Tarte Tatin**, a caramelized apple tart that’s perfect for a sweet ending.
Rouen’s combination of history, art, and culture makes it a truly enriching destination. It’s a place where the past feels alive, yet the energy is modern and vibrant—a city that leaves a lasting impression.
The city of 100 Spires

This capital city of Normandy is a beautiful port city set by the river Seine. Over a weekend, I was looking for travel ideas for Paris. Just to get away from the rush. Rouen filled the spot perfectly. With under 2 hours of a comfortable train ride. It ensured there was plenty of time that remains for exploration on a weekend trip. The city has several heritage and architectural marvels to visit. Particularly boasting several impressive churches and cathedrals.
The half timbered houses and the cobbled streets give it such a medieval feel. The notre dame of Rouen is amongst the most famous of structures, whose cast iron spires not only make it the tallest cathedral in France but are visible from any corner of the city. More famously it was also part of Calude monet's work who did several representations of this cathedral. It doesn't stop there, the same cathedral is also the resting place of Richard the Lionheart. But that is just the cathedral, this fine city offers a plethora of other sightseeing options in the form of museum of fine arts, St Catherine hill, botanical garden, Le gros horlog, church of
st. Joan of arc and much more. Not to miss, the food remains as impressive as any other part of France. #hiddengem #love #france #normandy #travel #vacation #wine #cheese #cafe #bar #pubs
Tallest Cathedral in France
Rouen is a beautiful city with so much to see. The cathedrale of Notre Dame is one example for fine heritage. It is a beautiful and gigantic structure.
This romanesque and gothic styled cathedral is known to be the tallest in france since the reconstruction of its cast iron spires. These spires are very noticeable from all across the city. And when you climb up the tower you get an excellent view of the city.
More famously if it feels like you have seen it before. That could be due to the great painter Calude Monet, who painted a series of this cathedral. Almost 30 representations of it. Also, the cathedral has the tomb of Richard the Lionheart. The audio tour is recommended as it will provide you very rich insights about the cathedral. If in rouen and walking around, this is a must visit!

【🇫🇷Nice】
📍🇫🇷France, Nice, St. Nicholas Cathedral
I love Islamic architecture more than anything, and I'm fascinated by the onion-like shape on top!
It's in Europe, but it's not European style, and it's nice to have a mix of different cultures like this so you don't get bored!
There aren't many people, and if you're a student, the admission fee is free!! 🆓
Even adults can enter for about 5 euros, but to be honest, the amazing thing is the exterior, so you might not need to go inside (this is the honest opinion of someone who has actually been there...lol)

Strolling through the ancient city of Rouen
Rouen is an ancient city located in the Greater Normandy region and is extremely proud of its Gothic cathedral that reaches into the sky. The city seems to have experienced many hardships. It experienced many fires and plagues during the Middle Ages, and was occupied by the British during the Hundred Years' War. The damage during World War II was relatively serious. Today's old town was restored after World War II. In addition to the Notre Dame Cathedral of Rouen, there are also the Grand Bell Tower, the Palace of Justice, the Old Market, etc. The Impressionist painting master Monet once had a series of works of the Notre Dame Cathedral. It shows the majestic appearance of the cathedral in different seasons and times. The Rouen Museum of Fine Arts has a collection of paintings by many masters. Of course, there is no shortage of Monet's works. I was unable to visit due to time constraints. The admission fee is 5 euros to see the information.
There is a subway in the urban area of Rouen, which shows that the city is not small. But the ancient city is not big, and the main attractions can be walked. Since accommodation in the ancient city is not expensive, it is more convenient to choose to stay in the ancient city. For self-driving cars, there is a large underground parking lot with 4 floors near Notre Dame Cathedral 🅿️, Parking de la Cathédrale, open 24 hours, 16.5 euros/24 hours.
The main attraction, Notre Dame Cathedral of Rouen, is currently under repair. There is scaffolding on the facade of the main tower, making it impossible to take a neat photo of the facade. Admission is free. Many sculptures on the facade are severely weathered, and some walls show signs of weathering and falling off. The restoration project is very large and is expected to take several years.
St. Vincent's Church, which was built in 1458, was destroyed in the bombing on May 31, 1944 at the end of World War II. Currently, only a few incomplete door arches remain.
The old city still retains the ancient streets and alleys with gravel roads. The buildings on both sides can be seen to have been repaired with modern techniques, but you can still smell the vicissitudes of the past.
The old market is still in use, and there are many restaurants and bars around it. You can sit down and have a drink while shopping, which can also solve your hunger problem. During the Hundred Years' War between England and France in 1431, the French heroine Joan of Arc was tried for heresy and burned on the execution stake in the square. The church built for Joan of Arc is built in a modern style. The long corridor is covered with fish-scale tiles, and some remains of old buildings remain in the square.
It was cloudy when we arrived, and the real scene was much better than the photos. It is probably the city with the most preserved monuments in the greater Normandy area and is worth your time to visit.

Must try this oldest restaurant in Rouen
La Couronne (The Crown) is a must visit when in Rouen as the oldest restaurant of France. And the restaurant has kept the interior true to the times.
The interior is very authentic with all the photographs of famous people and the design itself. Some critisize it but it is obvious that the owners put thought in it to look as is, instead they make sure that the dinnerware and glassware are top-branded which proves the point.
Wonderful view of Rouen
A bit tiring to walk uphill which took about 30mins walk from the city centre. But it DEFINITELY WORTH IT. The view is stunning in the golden hour. The sun shines will heal all your tires. Believe me, please go up to take a look of the city view of Rouen otherwise you gonna regret. I went there in November so its a bit cool and super windy up there. Bring enough clothes with you for the good view. :)
Rouen, the historic capital of Normandy
A city with many facets and a surprising dynamism, Rouen can be discovered through its cobbled streets and its unique heritage. Classified as a ''City of Art and History", Rouen impresses by the numerous traces of its medieval past, which are not without reminding the History of France.
It is in the historic hearth, on the right bank of the Seine, that one discovers the riches of the city. To appreciate Rouen, you have to stroll through the neighborhoods and constantly look up to admire the many buildings and discover secret places.
The half-timbered houses, the Saint-Quen abbey, the Law Courts, the Sainte-Jeanne D'Arc church, the Notre-Dame cathedral,... You should also walk along the rue du Gros Horloge, and wander through the narrow streets of the Carre d'Or, bounded by the Place du Vieux-Marche and the Saint-Maclou church. In Rouen, it is pleasant to sit on a terrace and imagine yourself out of time. #urbanexplorer

Gros Horloge - Great Clock in Rouen, France
Rouen is situated in Normandy, the northern region of France.
Rouen is the capital of Normandy (the hometown of Gabriel from Emily in Paris), and it’s a really nice quaint little town.
in the city centre of Rouen sits the Gros Horloge (Great Clock), which is a 14th century astronomical clock made in 1389. It is installed in a Renaissance arch crossing the busy street of Rue de Gros-Horloge.
The city centre is bustling and everywhere around this monument is filled with little cafes, shops, and many other sites such as the Joan of Arc museum.
It is an interesting place to visit and would be nice to experience!

Rouen is a city in northwestern France, the capital of the Seine-Maritime and the capital of the Normandy region. Historically, Rouen was one of the largest and most prosperous cities in medieval Europe. The city is located in the lower reaches of the Seine, 110 kilometers from the seaport and 140 kilometers from Paris. The population of the town is 110,000, and the population of the entire Rouen city circle is about 660,000. It is the second most populous city circle in northwestern France, second only to Nantes, and ranks sixth in France.
In France during the medieval period, Rouen was one of the most prosperous cities in Europe. It is a veritable historical and cultural city and the historical capital of the Normandy region. If you want to experience the history and culture of France, look at the magnificent Gothic architecture, look at the country's tallest church spire, and look at the wooden slab building. In addition to Paris, Rouen is a good tourist destination. In the city of Rouen, it is in a strong impressionist style.
See the mushroom-like house in the picture? That was the place where Jude was held that year. At the moment when the French were unable to do anything, Jude encouraged the morale of the French as a belief in existence. She did lead the French army with many victory. Unfortunately, he was unfortunately captured and was burned to Rouen by the British in a very cruel and insulting manner (you can understand it in detail), when it was less than twenty years old. There is a Joan of Arc church in the old town of Rouen, which was built on the site where she was executed after the 19th century.
Cathedral of Our Lady of Rouen. This is a very standard Gothic building. Monet has painted dozens of different colors of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Rouen, all without exception. It is a turbid brush with his own characteristics. It is the kind of myopia that looks like a thousand degrees through the flat mirror with rain. a feeling of. Come, you feel, I chose a color I like, blue is the warmest color.
Rouen is an ancient city with a history of thousands of years. It was very prosperous in medieval Europe. It was a city that suffered heavily in World War II. Many ancient buildings were destroyed and later rebuilt. It is so famous because we are familiar with the heroine Joan of Arc, who led the French against the British army. She was fired in Rouen.
As an ancient city with a thousand-year history, strolling through the streets of Rouen in Rouen, the monuments are not difficult to pick up - the Cathedral of Our Lady, the Church of St. Markalu, the Church of Joan of Arc... Its really silly to not do the homework in advance. As the landmark building of Rouen, the Cathedral of Our Lady attracts countless visitors from all over the world. The exterior is gorgeous and shocking. The interior is solemn and solemn. The camera is set aside and prays like a local person to find inner peace.
