Chasing the vibrant hues of autumn in Kamikochi 🍁✨ Nature's masterpiece unfolds as the leaves dance in the crisp mountain air. #Kamikochi
Kamikochi is a stunning mountainous area located in the Northern Japan Alps, renowned for its breathtaking scenery and rich biodiversity. During autumn, the landscape transforms into a kaleidoscope of warm colors, with vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows adorning the trees.
Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, such as hiking along scenic trails that wind through picturesque valleys and alongside the crystal-clear Azusa River. The iconic Kappa Bridge offers a fantastic viewpoint for capturing the beauty of the surrounding peaks and foliage.
Autumn is also a great time to experience the tranquility of Kamikochi, as fewer tourists visit compared to the summer months. The crisp air, coupled with the serene atmosphere, makes it a perfect destination for reflection and connection with nature.
Whether you're looking to explore the natural wonders, take stunning photographs, or simply unwind, Kamikochi in autumn is truly a magical experience.
📸 Highlight spots where you should take pictures of Kamikochi
This time, we will take everyone to take pictures at the highlight, which is the Azusa River, a very clear river flowing down from the mountain where the snow melted.
We came during the time when the leaves were changing colors at the end of October. The background contrasting with the sky was very beautiful. You can see the clear water and sunlight, but the temperature was about 7 degrees. 🥶 Azusa River is considered another highlight of Kamikochi. You can take beautiful pictures from every angle. You can get hundreds of pictures. 555
🚶♀️ We walked from the bridge back for about 15 minutes. The view on both sides was very beautiful, making us not tired at all. For friends who come to visit Kamikochi, you should come to take pictures and check in at this highlight.
🏔️ Kamikochi, Japan
🚃 We took a bus from Tokyo Station for about 5 hours.
⏰ It is recommended to walk around 2:00 PM because there is still sunlight so you can take beautiful pictures.

ลา พัก เที่ยว | So blessed Kamikochi Before Closing
I had the opportunity to visit Kamikochi for the first time before it closed for the winter season. I arrived in the morning of 10/11/24 around 7:30 AM. The temperature was about 5 degrees Celsius, colder than I expected. The water in the ponds was frozen, and ice crystals formed on the grass. The weather was great, and the scenery was beautiful. Although it was close to winter, there were still autumn leaves to see. It was worth waking up early and traveling for hours. If you have the chance, you should try staying at a hotel in Kamikochi at least once.
Kamikochi 2024
Visited Kamikochi on October 27, 2024, by booking a direct bus ticket from Matsumoto at 5:30 AM, arriving at Kamikochi around 7:05 AM. The weather was great, beautiful, and impressive. Initially, the weather forecast predicted rain because it had been raining the days before, so I was prepared for that. However, on the actual day, it didn't rain, the sky was clear, and the sun was shining. It was really beautiful. Around 10:00 AM, it started to get crowded. An important note is that you have to take your trash with you as it's hard to find a place to dispose of it, and there is a 100 yen fee to use the restroom.
Enter Kamikochi during winter break
Switzerland, the land of raw fish, breathe fresh air in a way that not many people come to because it is closed, but you can still come. As you know, this place is open from April to November, but it is not winter. There are no shops, no cars. But actually, you can come to visit. If you want to travel by yourself, have a taxi drop you off in front of the tunnel or hire a tour to take you in. Prepare your body and snow walking equipment. You will be tired when you are in the tunnel. Once you are in, it is a beautiful paradise. 8 kilometers of cardio.
Anyway, plan well how far you want to walk. On the way back, you will not come out too late. Otherwise, you will become a victim. Rest enough and prepare your energy to go through the snow.

Kamikochi ต้องไปสักครั้งในชีวิต
[📍 Kamikochi, Japan - One Day Trip in Late October 🍂]
Autumn is coming, and Kamikochi is breathtaking! 🍁

Kamikochi for the first time.
The day I went to the mountain, I wore a hat, which I slightly regret. But the weather was so nice, cool and refreshing. The water was clear. You have to see it with your own eyes at least once. But I will definitely go back again to see it without a hat.
The 3.5 km walk was just the right amount of tiring. The weather was good, the atmosphere was great, everything was beautiful. It felt like a short walk.
This time, I traveled from Takayama by bus. The journey was not difficult, but there were no reserved seats. It's first come, first served.
I want everyone to come.

Kamikochi in Summer!
Kamikochi is probably one of the best places in Japan to visit in Summer. Temperature is much cooler due to the higher altitude, hiking tracks ranging from beginner/family-friendly level, to professional levels. Only downside is that there's no direct access from the major cities. We stayed at Takayama this time, took 2 buses (about 1.5 hours journey in total) to reach kamikochi. It was still a wonderful experience :)

Kamikochi: From Taisho Pond to Kappa Bridge
I recently had the most amazing experience exploring Kamikochi, and I thought I'd share my journey with you all. I started my adventure at Taisho Pond Station, where the serene Taisho Pond itself greeted me with its mirror-like surface reflecting the majestic Hotaka Mountain Range. The early morning mist added a magical touch to the scenery, making it a photographer's paradise.
From Taisho Pond Station, I embarked on a picturesque walk towards Kappa Bridge. The trail was well-marked and surrounded by lush greenery, with the sound of the Azusa River accompanying me throughout the hike. The air was crisp and refreshing, and the occasional sighting of wildlife like Japanese macaques and mountain birds added to the charm of the journey.
As I approached Kappa Bridge, I was greeted by breathtaking views of the Azusa River flowing beneath the iconic wooden bridge, framed by towering peaks and dense forests. It was a perfect spot to pause, take in the natural beauty, and snap some photos to capture the essence of Kamikochi.
For those planning a trip to Kamikochi, starting from Taisho Pond Station and walking to Kappa Bridge is a must-do. The approximately 3-kilometer hike (about 1.8 miles) is relatively easy and suitable for all fitness levels, offering numerous opportunities to connect with nature and immerse oneself in the tranquility of the Japanese Alps.
If you're a nature enthusiast or simply looking for a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, Kamikochi won't disappoint. Don't forget to pack some snacks, plenty of water, and your camera—you'll want to capture every moment of this unforgettable journey!
Happy travels, and enjoy exploring Kamikochi as much as I did!

Kamikochi: A Park in the Midst of the Japan Alps
Kamikochi is one of the most talked-about destinations in Japan in recent years. Why do people go there? Where is it located? Let's take a look at this review.
Kamikochi is located in the Nagano National Park, part of the Northern Japan Alps. It is naturally beautiful in every season. Last year, I went during the autumn foliage season, so this year I decided to go during the spring instead. The park is open from April 17 to November 15 every year (it is closed during winter when there are no vehicles running, and you have to walk in by yourself). The highlights include Taisho Pond and Kappa Bridge, both about 4 km in distance, walking along the Azusa River. On the other side is Myojin Pond, also 4 km away. If you plan to go for a walk, you should allow enough time and prepare appropriate clothing.
EP.2 Kamikochi (上高地): How to Get to Kamikochi
Today, I will share the ways to travel from the city of Matsumoto to Kamikochi. Since I stayed in Matsumoto for one night, there are two ways to get to Kamikochi.
1. Travel by bus from Matsumoto to Kamikochi (There are only two rounds, at 05:30 and 10:30 AM) in the year 2023.
2. Take a train and then a bus (I chose this method because it's a bit late).
I started my journey around 7 AM, taking the train at JR Matsumoto Station on the Kamikochi Line to Shin-shima shima Station, which takes about 30 minutes.
Upon arriving at Shin-shima shima Station, I bought a bus ticket to go up to Kamikochi National Park, which takes about an hour. Along the way, you will see dams and lush green nature, very beautiful.
For the return trip, just walk to the Kamikochi bus station to buy a ticket back to Shin-shima shima to return to Matsumoto.
Golden moments in Kamikochi
The highlight of my 1 week trip to Japan is visiting Kamikochi (上高地). It is only open between mid-Apr to mid-Nov every year. You can easily reach here by taking bus or train from Matsumoto.
This is definitely one of the best place to enjoying a nice hike in nature, admiring the autumn leaves and breathing in fresh mountain air. You can choose between several well crafted routes (flat terrains) which may take you between 2-4 hours. The temp in Oct was very cooling at 15-19 degrees and I even had an ice cream at my half way point. 😀
Highly recommend to add this to your Japan itinerary if you visit during autumn.

The most splendid mountain scenery in 🇯🇵
📍Kamikochi (上高地)
Kamikochi in Nagano Prefecture is one of the most beautiful mountainous places in Japan. It offers breathtaking views through all seasons but it’s said to be the most beautiful in autumn and summer. I went there in summer and was very surprised by its beauty. The majestic mountain ranges seem to embrace the surrounding landscape, the clear water flowing on the Azusa River, the green forest, all create a wonderful picture of nature.
When traveling to Kamikochi I recommend you to:
1. Experience the spectacular views of the Hotaka Range peaks from Kappabashi Bridge. And if you come there in summer, try sitting by the Azusa river and touch the water, it’s surprisingly freezing.
2. Take a hike out to Myojin Pond
3. Go for a trekking adventure in the alpine wonderland of the Northern Japan Alps

Japan Alps: Kamikochi, Nagano Prefecture
Located in the birthplace of the Japanese Alps, Kamikochi offers breathtaking views and access to your next adventure.
The natural history of Kamikochi is one of great elemental upheavals occurring over many thousands of years, though some of these were also quite recent. The mountains and valleys were shaped in part by glacial activity, evidence of which can still be seen in some of the most prominent peaks. Another major player in the formation of the area was Mt. Yakedake, whose eruption over 14,000 years ago changed the course of the Azusa River, causing it to run through the basin in which present day Kamikochi and Matsumoto are located.
Mt. Yakedake would again play a role in shaping Kamikochi’s landscape when another eru#asia tion in the summer of 1915 dammed the Azusa River, creating Taisho Pond. It should be mentioned that Mt. Yakedake is the only active volcano in the Northern Alps and still proclaims its fury to the heavens by constantly emitting a plume of smoke.

Kamikochi located in the Nagano prefecture, Japan 🇯🇵.
It is full of nature and greenish zone. Kamikochi offers access to the heart of the Northern Japan Alps, which have been shaped in part by glacial activity.
Kamikochi is famous for its valley, with its lush forests, offers stunning views of the surrounding peaks, including the volcanic Mt. Yakedake. The Hotaka mountain range dominates the area, and at 3,190 meters, Mt. Oku Hotaka is the highest peak in the Northern Japan Alps.
In the fall season, it is sometimes crowded with the visitors.
It was a big experience to feel the nature and village life in Japan 🇯🇵.
