Hong Kong Version Dragon Ball Roll
Recently, I've been busy with renovations and haven't been able to travel, so I decided to treat myself to a good meal. I went to Saiwa Sushi House in Wan Chai to make up for the missed opportunity in Tokyo and had the Hong Kong version of the Dragon Ball Roll and shaved ice. We ordered a set for two at $880.
The set included two appetizers: black plum shellfish and sweet tomatoes, both very fresh.
Next was the Japanese steamed egg. It had large pieces of clam meat and a hint of yuzu, adding a refreshing touch.
Sashimi (4 types)
The sea bream was fresh and firm, topped with plum meat, giving it a tangy taste.
The Oita oyster with sour sauce was fresh, sweet, and smooth, with a crispy edge.
The smoked and seared bonito was prepared with a blowtorch for added drama, and the chef even did a few extra sprays for us to record. The fish had a smoky aroma and was very fresh.
The Pacific saury roll, in season, was paired with perilla leaves and pickled radish, making it both rich and refreshing.
Next came the wagyu sukiyaki and five skewers.
The skewers included pork belly, chicken wings, large tiger prawns, okra, and shiitake mushrooms, with cherry tomatoes on the side. The pork belly was rich and flavorful, the chicken wings were juicy and crispy, and the tiger prawns were firm and bouncy.
The sukiyaki sauce wasn't overly sweet, and the wagyu melted in your mouth, paired with vegetables and noodles, it was hot and comforting. After the sashimi, the hot food was even more satisfying.
Sushi section
Upgraded anglerfish liver puff, the puff was sweet, paired with creamy fish liver sauce, it was surprisingly delicious!
Seared otoro, with a charred aroma and overflowing with fat.
Scallop roll, small scallops with a great texture.
Sea urchin roll, fresh and rich.
The highlight of the meal was the extra-cost Saiwa Tai Roll. I missed it in Tokyo, so I came here specifically to try it.
The chef carefully layered soy-marinated egg yolk, cucumber, otoro, lean tuna, and sea urchin, creating a visually stunning dish! It's best enjoyed in one big bite, truly satisfying and delicious! Rich, smooth, fresh, and sweet, the various textures lingered in my mouth, making it a delightful experience.
Then came the hot fish soup, with a hint of sansho pepper, adding a slight numbing sensation to the fresh sweetness.
Shaved ice
We chose red wine raisin and wrinkled melon flavors. The chef prepared the shaved ice on the spot, which was delightful to watch! The soft and fluffy ice had the aroma of wine, raisins, and melon, making for a sweet and refreshing end to the evening. 😋
Beautiful views
Ate here several nights and day time during a week of stay. Absolutely loved every single meal. I already knew I’d be ordering like 6 things on the menu and that is exactly what I did.
The seafood platter and mussel/prAwn soup for appetizer, lamb, whole sea bass grilled, and whole John Dory Gregada style.
We were disappointed by nothing. All was exceptionally prepared, presented, and flavored. One of only 3 restaurants that I set on a pedestal before arriving and they exceeded my high standards.

🇲🇾 Exploring the Enchanting Island of Langkawi, Malaysia
#islandtour #100waysoftravel
Langkawi, Malaysia, is a stunning archipelago known for its lush landscapes, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant cultural experiences. On my recent tour of this tropical paradise, I discovered a blend of adventure, relaxation, and culinary delights that truly showcased the best of Langkawi.
The adventure began with some exhilarating water sports off the coast of one of Langkawi’s pristine beaches. From jet skiing across the gleaming waters to parasailing high above the island, each activity offered a thrilling perspective of Langkawi’s natural beauty.
One of the highlights of my trip was the sunset cruise. As the yacht sailed along the coastline, the sky turned into a canvas of deep oranges and pinks, creating a breathtaking backdrop against the tranquil sea. The cruise was not only a visual delight but also a chance to unwind and soak in the serene atmosphere.
No visit to Langkawi would be complete without savoring its local seafood. The island’s restaurants, many situated right on the beach, served fresh, flavorful seafood dishes that were perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection.
Another must-visit attraction was the 3D museum, an interactive art space where I snapped amusing photos with lifelike paintings and optical illusions. The experience was both fun and immersive, adding a unique cultural twist to the trip.
Finally, a journey to the Sky Bridge offered a panoramic view of Langkawi’s verdant hills and sparkling waters. This architectural marvel, suspended high above the island, provided a spectacular vantage point and was a fitting finale to my island adventure.
Langkawi truly is a gem of Malaysia, offering everything from high-octane adventures and natural beauty to delightful culinary experiences and cultural richness. It’s an ideal destination for anyone looking to explore the diversity and charm of Southeast Asia.

Sun, Sand and Serenity: My Dream Weekend in Formentera
This summer, I spent the most amazing weekend in Formentera and I can’t wait to share my experience! If you are looking for a getaway that combines stunning beaches, relaxation and delicious food, this is it!
🏨 I arrived on Friday afternoon at Riu La Mola, and I was immediately blown away by the breathtaking views of the Mediterranean. The hotel’s atmosphere is so welcoming and my room was perfect - spacious and with a gorgeous balcony where I could unwind. After a quick dip in the pool, I decided to explore the beach right outside the hotel. The sand was soft and the water was crystal clear - it felt like paradise! #holidayvacation #relax #beachlife
🍽️ For dinner, I went to the hotel’s buffet which offered a wide variety of delicious food. What a way to start the weekend! #foodie
🏖️ Saturday was all about exploring! I kicked off the day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel, then headed to Playa de Ses Illetes, one of the most famous beaches on the island. The turquoise waters were perfect for swimming and the beach was buzzing with energy.
In the afternoon, I discovered Calo des Mort, a hidden gem that took my breath away. The cliffs surrounding the beach and the clear waters made it an ideal spot for some sunbathing and relaxation! #CaloDesMort
🌅 As the sun began to set, I made my way to Cap de Barbaria. The lighthouse offered panoramic views that were absolutely mesmerising. Definitely a highlight of the trip! #sunset #views #photography
🏄🏽♀️ On Sunday, I decided to rent a paddleboard and enjoyed gliding over the calm waters, taking in the stunning scenary from a different perspective. For lunch, I went to Chiringuito Bartolo, conveniently located right next to the hotel. The vibe was laid-back, and the fresh seafood was simple out of this world! I tried their grilled fish. #watersports #seafood
I spend the rest of the afternoon lounging by the pool, soaking up the sun and reflecting on my amazing trip.
Tips:
- Book Early: Accommodations can fill up quickly, especially during the summer months.
- Check Ferry Schedules: If you are travelling from Ibiza, be sure to check ferry schedules well in advance.
- Rent a Motorbike: Is the most convenient way to get around the island. It allows you to explore some of the more remote beaches.
- Stay Hydrated: The sun can be intense. Carry water with you to stay hydrated while you are exploring!
Final Thoughts: Formentera, with its breathtaking landscapes and vibrant culture, is truly a hidden gem. If you are considering a getaway I highly recommend booking a stay at Riu La Mola - you will not regret it! #formentera
Incredible Seafood
The whole dining environment is quite out of this world, though i must say the pricing is also quite the same. We paid about 7000yen for the squid done 3 ways (for 2 pax), so a note of caution to those going with non-Japanese language grasp. The only downside was the wait staff was explaining some pricing to us in Japanese on our choice of squid order, which we still didn't quite understand.
Sashimi were sliced very thinly and fresh. Service was immaculate. Ambience was lovely. In Fukuoka one of the best seafood places where you can order your own seafood and have it cooked perfectly by the chef. highly recommend the horse Mackerel, Ika (Squid) and lobster. Some items like lobster are a bit too pricey but worth the experience. Book ahead.

Is Fisherman’s Wharf worth the hype? 💯 Absolutely!
A trip to San Francisco will not be complete without a nice evening stroll around the Fisherman’s Wharf! Here are some of the top things to do when you are visiting here:
🦭 Of course you can’t miss the opportunity to spot hundreds of seal chilling by Pier 39! They are here all year long, and is especially active during the day time!
🏠 check out the many interesting shops located by the pier, you will also see a small amusement park, guaranteed fun for the whole family!
🦀 Not to mention, the seafood here is also amazing for the foodies out there! Be sure to try out the iconic clam chowder in sourdough bread and the famous fresh giant crabs here, they are some of the best I’ve had in the US so far!

Eat like a local : Savory the best Seafood Glass Noodles in Bangkok!
#traveldiaries#bangkoktrip#eatlikealocal#deliciousfood#seafood
06/09/2024, Friday 6pm. Somsak Puob, Khlong San, Bangkok.
During my trip to Bangkok month ago, my local Thai friends bought me to the Somsak Puob seafood restaurant, this was my second visit there, the restaurant serves just few type of seafoods but the best sellers are:
Streamed Crab with Glass Noodles & Streamed Prawns with Glass Noodles. The seafood were fresh and tender, the soft chewy glass noodles that soaked up tasty seafood juices and all the flavours in the sizzling metal pot, and the dipping sauce makes all the difference! Soooo yummy!!! Probably the best Seafood Glass Noodles in Bangkok!
⏩Price is affordable, THB 350 - 450

⏩Overall rating: 4.5/5, Highly recommend to seafood lovers!
Business hour: Open daily from 3pm - 9:30 pm, except closed on Monday.

Savoring the Sea: A True Local Experience at Busan's Jagalchi Market
#eatlikealocal #100waysoftravel #southkorea #busan #seafood
**"Eating Like a Local: Fresh Seafood Feast at Busan's Jagalchi Market"**
One of my favorite experiences when visiting Busan is definitely savoring the fresh, raw seafood at Jagalchi Market. The market is a paradise for seafood lovers, with endless stalls offering everything from raw octopus (sannakji) and live abalone to an array of shellfish, including scallops, mussels, and sea urchins. The raw octopus, still wriggling on the plate, is an adventurous delicacy best eaten with a dipping sauce of sesame oil and salt, providing a burst of flavor and texture. The abalone, tender and briny, is often served raw or lightly grilled, highlighting its natural sweetness.
Vendors skillfully prepare the seafood on the spot, and many restaurants within the market will cook your purchases to order, whether grilled, steamed, or served raw in the traditional Korean way. Paired with spicy gochujang, garlic, and fresh vegetables, each bite feels like a celebration of the sea, making it an unforgettable way to eat like a true local.
The seafood goes so well with a bottle of soju, just like a scene out of a Korean drama. An ajuma even helped us grill the shellfish and cut them into bite-sized pieces, despite the language barrier. Her kindness, along with the freshness of the seafood, made it an unforgettable way to eat like a true local.
Fresh and tasty seafood
Since this too is a popular restaurant among locals I was worried about there being ques. However, the restaurant was open for late lunch and there was no queue. Service was fast. It has a very nice location right next to the beach. Variety of seafood is available and the price is reasonable. The place is clean.
They also have a table for solo customers too. The abalone porridge was so hearty and tasty. I ordered the sashimi with cold noodles and the fish was so fresh but the mackerel was too chewy for my liking. Worth going there for the porridge though. Prices are generally expensive. While this one may not feel very expensive, the portions are not that big.

Great Vibe
The atmosphere and decor at Bopp and Tone were upbeat yet had an old school charm. The vibe is fantastic. It’s a mix of corporate, singles and families. Buzzy, fluid and alive. The staff are super friendly. Taste is on point and everything is bursting with flavour. Ingredients are fresh.
Value for money for the quality of food is on point. Beyond the prawns, the menu is a culinary adventure with flavors that never fail to impress. The menu is magnificent with every dish executed perfectly. The Stuffed zucchini flowers were perfectly crisp with a generous amount of ricotta.
The Roast cracked potatoes with herb butter were simply to die for. Every part of this dining experience is unique. Cocktails were great with our waiter recommending ones based on our taste preferences.

Exquisite foood
The service at Ester was friendly and attentive, with an excellent selection of wines and cocktails that perfectly complemented the meal. Every dish was a treat for the taste buds, but a few stood out to me in particular. The fermented potato bread with salmon roe and kefir cream was a unique and flavorful combination.
The natural rock oysters with finger lime pearls added a delicate touch of freshness. The ceviche was fresh and bursting with flavors, while the lemon pancake provided a perfect sweet note to end the meal on a high. The industrial-style decor added a modern and elegant ambiance to the overall atmosphere. Stunning restaurant and the 4 cocktails we tried were all super delicious. Definitely going to recommend this one!

Great seafood
This is a great place to get together with friends like I did for a lunch get together. The staff were very accommodating with my request and gave us a great table. They were willing to assist us with any request that we had. The only problem was they didn’t allow us to split the bill which can be very inconvenient with large groups such as ours.
It made things a little harder when it came time to settle up. The food was absolutely beautiful, I had lobster which was delicious and my dessert was soo yummy. Overall, seafood is something you enjoy. This is the place you cannot miss.

Tourist Prices
So there is a live seafood corner, a live band singing vietnamese songs, spacious set up and good food. But the prices are nowhere near Vietnamese standards. They are mostly counting on local and foreign tourists. Also, being that big the service gets affected. They have that factory style approach.
Some of the dishes could do with more seafood in them. For instance when you order seafood fried rice for 5 times the price of local restaurants. There is atleast some expectations. And adding some bread could be nice as well. Overall, it can be a good spot to drink and eat seafood. But the prices may not amuse people.

High End Food
This was an impressive dinner. It's got an incredible atmosphere, the ambience, the chef and the staff everything was fantastic. It serves premium priced high-end food served along with a lot of stories about this place and personal ones. Upon arriving at the restaurant, we are greeted by the manager and his team.
He explains both the food and drink menu very nicely. They have a good wine collection. We ordered a Chateau du Pape for very good value. Their chef also shows his hospitality by coming out and spending some time to chat with us and share with us the story about the restaurant. We really feel the warmth and hospitality by the restaurant. It's a special experience.

Cosy and Laidback
This place has one of the nicest staff we came across during our vietnam trip. I went here with a group of friends and another time on a date. Both the times it was lovely. Very chill place to have some nice drinks. Great cocktails, I would especially recommend the Fatfish cocktail if you're into lemongrass and a good wine selection.
We ordered the seafood plate as the main dish. The fish & shrimps were fresh, the rest was cooked just enough. Good quality cheese, scallops looked like being cut in half. The passion fruit crème brûlée had the texture and was fluffy. Jasmine beer is very good! Very smooth, no bitter and easy to pair with seafood and beef. Staff are very helpful and effective.

Delicious Seafood
Bandar Djakarta is mostly famous for sea food. And it seems very popular with locals. The food is fresh, they have this kind of love tanks where we need to choose the fish, crab, oyster, prawns, squids etc. The customers can choose their own type and quantity of seafood. The menu choices are also many.
After getting a seat, you can immediately be directed to order seafood in the fish market area. For drinks, you can order directly from the waitress.
The atmosphere was fine. I like the pier side setting. It does get sort of chaotic at certain hours. Indoor seatings are air conditioned and outdoors are open air style. It's very crowded between 6-8pm so best avoided then.

Feast Fit for a King: Indulging at Bacchanal Buffet in Caesar's Palace
#hotelbuffet #100waysoftravel #Feast #seafood #kingcrab #Beef #buffet #premium #lasvegas #Bacchanal #Caeserpalace #america #dessert #Caesarspalace
We decided to indulge in a dining experience at Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars Palace, drawn by its stellar reputation as one of the most luxurious buffets in Las Vegas.
As soon as we entered, the sheer scale of the place was impressive—nine live show kitchens and a seemingly endless selection of dishes from around the world.
Bacchanal boasts over 500 items daily, so no matter your preference, there’s something for everyone. Although seafood isn’t typically my go-to, the prime cuts of beef were absolutely succulent, cooked to perfection and full of flavor. The dessert station was equally as indulgent, and I couldn’t resist the creamy ice cream that made the meal feel complete.
For seafood lovers, this buffet is a paradise. With three different kinds of crabs and an unlimited supply of king crab legs, it’s a dream come true. Watching others dive into the fresh seafood spread made me appreciate the attention to detail and quality Bacchanal puts into every dish.
The buffet operates daily from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with prices ranging between $50 to $100 depending on the time of day and day of the week, which is a great value for such a diverse and high-end spread. Whether you’re a foodie or just want to experience one of the most talked-about buffets in the city, Bacchanal does not disappoint.
Where Asia meets Europe
We had a 4 nights stopover in Istanbul on our way to North America and it was an amazing experience. We stayed in a hotel in old city next to sea side. We walked around the cobalt stone streets, tasted the Türkiye’s cuisine, visited the famous mosque, took a cruise around Bosphorus and travel between Asian and European parts of Istanbul.

A French Bistro on Chakan Street
After work on Friday night, I went to this charming French bistro in Sheung Wan, Chakan Street, for dinner. Although it's a bit far from the subway station, the unique decor and great atmosphere make up for it.
We started with a glass of red wine and some bread. The Niçoise Onion Anchovy Olive Tartine, although called a tartine, is actually a crispy baked bread. The sweet onions combined with the salty anchovies make a perfect match.
Japanese Shimeji Mushroom Tart
This dish was outstanding. The tart crust was flaky and crispy, topped with a generous amount of mushrooms. Underneath the mushrooms were finely chopped mushroom bits, providing two different textures. It was incredibly fragrant, and the creamy special sauce drizzled on top made it irresistible.
Chicory Salad
The presentation resembled a blooming flower, very beautiful! Inside were cherry tomatoes, walnuts, cheese, and chicory. The chicory had a slight bitterness, but when paired with the sweetness of the fragrant pear, it was very refreshing overall.
French Pan-Seared Whole Sole
The presentation wasn't very appealing because the sole looked a bit intimidating! The waiter deboned the fish after we took a photo and then served it. The fish was tender, juicy, and very fragrant. If you love fish, you must try this. The creamy spinach was tender and green, and the large potatoes were filling. It was a creative main course combination!
Apricot Tart with Pistachio Sorbet
The apricots were sweet and fragrant, and the pistachio ice cream was rich. The highlight was the tart crust, which was flaky and crispy, very well done.
This small bistro truly embodies the French style. Every dish is beautifully presented and surprisingly delicious. No wonder, despite its inconvenient location, it still attracts many people for dinner.

Best Buffet in Bangkok!
#buffets
I love how this was a massive buffet with a lot of seafood but also plenty of live stations for freshly cooked seafood. And you don't wanna miss the Thai seafood experience. A friend of mine reserved us a spot on a weekday. It was 2000++ per person. Kind of pricey but then the offerings too were premium.
We had to wait 5 mins and soon enough at the exact slot time we were ushered in. The decor is tasteful and gives a nice impression. Love the placement of the spread. They offer a variety of high-quality, beautifully prepared, and delicious dishes such as beef steak, truffle soup, seafood, noodles, and sasimi.
While seafood was indeed the highlight I must say i was impressed by several other dishes in the buffet. The wagyu for instance was the best i tried in Asia. And I have experimented outside of japan with wagyu.

Korean Busan Seafood Restaurant - Dohee's House
The set menu prices are a bit high, but there are many options to choose from.
The abalone seafood soup is very delicious! We ordered two bowls directly.
The sashimi bibimbap is very unique! If you have the chance, you should give it a try.
⚠️ Everyone in the restaurant must order at least one dish.
The three of us wanted to share and eat simply, but the staff told us it wasn't allowed 🤣
(Or maybe there was a misunderstanding?)
However, the overall cost is slightly on the high side.
🇵🇹 Fresh Seafood in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal
On our last day in Porto, we enjoyed a satisfying seafood meal at Armazém do Peixe. Located in Afurada, a charming fishing village just across the river from Porto, this elegant restaurant was converted from the ruins of an old fishing net warehouse in 2017. From the moment we stepped inside, we noticed the space was large, airy, and filled with natural light. The restaurant specializes in preparing fresh seafood while preserving its natural flavors. We ordered Portuguese seafood rice, grilled fish, scallops, and 3 glasses of sangria. The seafood was fresh and delectable, and the waitress was attentive, even helping us debone the fish.

Sushi, sashimi, pickled salmon-pickled shrimp, seafood
Lamb ribs, pasta, papaya salad, Pad Thai, and even Khao Soi
.
The other day, my brother Yu and I went to eat an international buffet
𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐢 𝐓𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐁𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐭 𝐃𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫
at the CiTi BiSTRo restaurant in the Pathumwan Princess Hotel
Next to MBK shopping mall
.
Very impressed, beyond expectations 🥰
A large line of food, good quality ingredients, delicious taste
Most of the food is freshly made to order
We will get to eat fresh, hot food
There are many menus to choose from
For example, seafood can be cooked in many menus
🦑Whether it's grilled/ seafood in a sauce/ stir-fried with curry powder
/ fried with garlic/ steamed with soy sauce
🦐 River prawns with juicy split backs
🍙 Pickled shrimp-pickled salmon served with Japanese rice, seaweed
🍣 Sashimi-sushi, thick salmon, big bites
🥩 Steak, lamb ribs, beef/salmon/pork
🥗 Crispy minced noodles papaya salad, salted egg papaya salad with seafood, very delicious
🍝 Pasta, choose your own noodles/sauce
🍜 There's also a Khao Soi menu, a little fusion, a little creamy
#Daily special menu Salmon wrapped in sea bass
Pad Thai with river prawns wrapped in eggs and many more dessert stations
For those who are looking for a good quality buffet, good value for money, convenient to travel
I highly recommend this place. Definitely not disappointed
