#myhiddengems With mountains and sandy beaches welcoming turquoise waters. Mention is a lovely little getaway that offers everything. What I love about such places is that they make my travel affordable, while keeping me in some of my favourite countries. The location of Menon is wonderful too, between Monaco and the Italian Border. When i was there the weather was just lovely during the week-long stay. I am told by a lot of people that Menon enjoys good weather throughout the year and winters too are never what is considered cold in some parts of Europe. Another thing I have come to appreciate particularly with small towns in France are the gardens. In Menon's case, it is also considered as a garden town. Some of my memorable experiences in Menon also revolve around food. It is one thing I don't mind spending on or as some would consider a splurge in certain cases. My research showed me that from Le Marché des Halles to the 3 michelin star Mirazur via Italian pizzerias, the place teems with restaurants each offering a unique and colourful culinary adventure. Another lovely experience was the visit to a jam factory. La maison herbin is an amusing place. The famous festival of Fet du citron happens here. A tour of les villages perches is also recommended. Takachiho Gorge is a narrow chasm cut through the rock by the Gokase River. The nearly sheer cliffs lining the gorge are made of volcanic basalt columns which resemble the scales of a dragon where the stone twisted and flowed as it formed. Partway along the gorge is the 17 meter high Minainotaki waterfall cascading down to the river below, and it is truly impressive to see the waterfall against a backdrop of dense green foliage and the surrounding grey cliffs. There are two perspectives from which to enjoy the gorge. The first is from below which is done by rowing down the river. Rental boats are available at the south end of the gorge, and the water is calm and easy to navigate. This highly recommended route offers a close up view of the cliffs and waterfall. The second perspective, from above, is done by walking the paved path that runs along the edge of the gorge. There are beautiful views all along the way and at some points on the trail you can look practically straight down to the river below. The trail continues for about one kilometer, eventually leading to the Takachiho Shrine. There are a few other things to see and do around the southern end of the gorge including a freshwater aquarium, a stocked fishing pond and a few restaurants and souvenir shops. The gorge is illuminated during the summer months until 22:00. The Takachiho Gorge is located just outside the town center, about a 30-40 minute walk from the Takachiho Bus Center. Why Go To Bora Bora The small island of Bora Bora (just about 6 miles long and a little more than 2 miles wide) overflows with beauty. A dormant volcano rises up at its center and fans out into lush jungle before spilling into an aquamarine lagoon. In fact, author James Michener, who wrote "Tales of the South Pacific," called Bora Bora "the most beautiful island in the world." The 18th-century British explorer James Cook even coined it as the "Pearl of the Pacific." And as you might've already guessed, the main industry on this petite island in French Polynesia and its swarm of tiny motu (islands) is tourism. There are many beautiful prestine beaches in tasmania where popular beaches like Coles Bay, WineGlass Bay, Bruny Island and one where we went was ocean beach located near Strahan Village. Ocean Beach is a long stretch of beach with unblocked views. This beach is approximately 40km long and is worth a visit. Along the beach there are also couple of sand dunes that you are able to climb up and even with the possibility sliding down die to the very soft sands here.
