Blossoms and Breeze: The Sakura Magic of Bomun Lake in Spring
#koreatrip #gyeongju #bomunlake
Visiting Bomun Lake in Gyeongju during spring for the sakura blossoms is an unparalleled experience. As the heart of Gyeongju’s cherry blossom season, the area transforms into a breathtaking spectacle of soft pink hues reflected in the tranquil waters of the lake. Walking along the paths lined with blooming sakura trees feels like stepping into a dream. I can still vividly recall the magical moment when the wind gently swept through, sending delicate petals fluttering through the air like snow, softly landing on the lake and even in my hair. It’s a memory of serene beauty that lingers long after the season ends.

The palace of the Silla Dynasty, the East Palace where the prince lived, was also the place where banquets were held. It used to be called Anapji, but later it was renamed. The East Palace surrounds the pond, which is the renamed Wolji (the pond that reflects the moon).
As the evening gradually moves around the pond, lights illuminate the trees and the East Palace. Especially as the sky gets darker, the beauty becomes more and more beautiful. Looking at the calmness in the pond, the reflection in the water is as clear as a mirror, and the golden palace walls are illuminated. It is so beautiful. By the way, the golden east palace after lighting and the trees on the shore have a charming feeling. I think it is really smart to use lights to create a brilliant night scene~
The beautiful scenery in front of you is really recommended to come at night. It can be very cold at night in autumn and winter, so be sure to keep warm~

Cheomseongdae: Where History Meets the Magic of Spring Sunset
#koreatrip #gyeongju
Our visit to Cheomseongdae in Gyeongju during a spring sunset was truly enchanting. As the golden hour bathed the ancient observatory in soft light, we admired the surrounding gardens, where tulips were beginning to bloom, adding vibrant colors to the serene landscape. Cheomseongdae, the oldest surviving astronomical observatory in East Asia, dates back to the 7th century during the Silla Dynasty. Its unique bottle-shaped structure, built with 362 granite stones to represent the days of the lunar year, reflects the advanced scientific knowledge of the time. Standing there, surrounded by nature's beauty and centuries of history, we felt transported to another era, marveling at the blend of natural and cultural splendor.
Twilight Magic at Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond
#koreatrip #gyeongju
Our visit to Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond was nothing short of magical. We arrived in the late afternoon, taking our time to stroll through the serene grounds surrounded by spring's delicate cherry blossoms. As the sun began to set, the palace and pond transformed into a dreamlike scene, reflecting the golden hues of twilight. When night fell, the palace lights illuminated, casting a warm glow on the tranquil waters of Wolji Pond and creating an enchanting mirror effect. The combination of history, nature, and soft evening light made this a truly unforgettable experience.
Blooming History: Cherry Blossoms at Daereungwon Tomb Complex
#koreatrip#gyeongju
Our visit to Daereungwon Tomb Complex during cherry blossom season was like stepping into a dream. The ancient burial mounds, already majestic with their gentle curves and historical significance, were surrounded by delicate pink cherry blossoms in full bloom. The contrast between the soft petals and the lush green grass of the tombs created a breathtakingly serene atmosphere. As we walked along the paths lined with blooming trees, petals gently drifted in the breeze, adding a magical touch to the experience. This harmonious blend of history and nature during the cherry blossom season made our visit unforgettable.
Springtime Magic: Sakura Nights at Woljeonggyo Bridge
#koreatrip #gyeongju
Our visit to Woljeonggyo Bridge in Gyeongju during a beautiful spring night left us with memories we will cherish forever. The fully bloomed cherry blossoms surrounded the bridge, their delicate pink petals glowing softly under the night lights. The elegant structure of the reconstructed Silla-era bridge reflected perfectly in the calm waters below, creating a dreamlike scene. Walking along the bridge, we felt immersed in the beauty and history of Gyeongju, with the sweet scent of sakura carried by the gentle breeze. It was a magical moment that combined nature’s splendor with architectural grace, leaving us with fond memories of this historic city.
A Romantic Spring Escape: The Perfect Couple's Travel Experience in Gyeongju
#coupletravel #100waysoftravel #southkorea #gyeongju #sakurablossoms #cherrybloosom
I would say Gyeongju is perfect for a couple's trip in spring. The cherry blossoms are in full bloom, with petals flying everywhere, making the air feel sweet and romantic. Korean couples are all around, setting up their tripods to capture the perfect couple photos. We brought our own tripod too, and they were more than willing to help us take photos whenever we needed. We spent a lovely afternoon relaxing and chilling in the Sakura garden at Bulguksa Temple and by the peaceful Boemun Lake, soaking in the beauty of the season and each other's company. It was a truly magical and romantic experience.
best view in bomun complex
Overpricing isn't a foreign concept at all in Korea. Things are more about their appearance. Besides, this is the cafe with the best view in bomun complex. And everything around is also overpriced. That's how we were able to make peace with the pricing here. Came by twice, once wmhad a bit and drinks, another time just drinks and soaked in the vibes. The coffee and dessert were expensive but delicious.
I especially liked the cake because it was moist and soft. This cafe has a very pretty interior and a view of Bomun Lake, so I was satisfied with that alone. While the basement has a modern and clean atmosphere, the above ground has the antique feel of a hanok, giving it a unique fun experience. It things like these that make or improve the overall experience of visiting LLoW.

Gyeongju Travel Must-Visit Spot, Gyeongju Green Barley Field
📍 Bunhwangsa Green Barley Field
Bunhwangsa is a charming place with canola flowers in spring and poppies and green barley fields in summer.
I visited around mid-May, and the green barley field was growing. The wide expanse of green is a healing sight for the eyes. If you visit on a good day, you can take refreshing photos full of summer vibes.
There are no bus stops nearby, so I recommend taking a taxi or a ride-hailing service. The parking lot is right in front and is quite spacious, so you don't have to worry about parking.
Gyeongju Suburban Large Cafe, Gyeongju Drive Trip
📌 Sodis Coffee
⏰ 11:00~22:00
📍 161 Hyeongsan-ro, Hyeongok-myeon, Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk
Gyeongju has many cafes and restaurants on streets like Hwangridan-gil and Gyeongridan-gil, but if you drive a bit further out, you can visit grand and impressive large cafes.
I visited Sodis Coffee, which is a bit far from downtown Gyeongju. Sodis Coffee is a large cafe with a grand and impressive interior, but the outdoor seating is particularly charming. The tables are freely placed in the forest, making it a great place to enjoy the natural atmosphere.
As a large cafe, it offers a variety of desserts and drinks, so if you're looking for a large cafe in Gyeongju, this is a great place to visit.

In Gyeongju, we visited Cheomseongdae and were greeted by a garden filled with beautiful blossoms. The tulips and daffodils were in full bloom, their vibrant colors creating a stunning contrast against the ancient observatory.

Seongdong Market: Savoring Gyeongju Like a Local
#markets #songkran2024 #gyeongju #korea
During our visit to Gyeongju, we stayed near Seongdong Market, and one of the things we loved most about this location was the incredible variety of local food available. The market was a food lover’s paradise, offering everything from savory pancakes (jeon) to fresh seafood and traditional Korean snacks. What made the experience even more special was the ability to sit right there in the market, eating like the locals do, surrounded by the lively atmosphere. Each stall tempted us with delicious aromas and flavors, making it hard to choose just one dish. It was the perfect place to experience the authentic taste of Gyeongju and immerse ourselves in the local culture.
Blossoms in the Breeze: A Dreamy Day at Gyeongju's Cherry Blossom Festival
We wandered through the Bomun Tourist Complex for three hours, soaking in the romantic atmosphere of Gyeongju's cherry blossom festival. The area was bustling with people, and traffic jams were inevitable, but the sight of cherry blossoms drifting like snow across the city was simply magical. As we walked past ancient tombs, stone walls, and drooping cherry blossoms, the scene became even more enchanting. When the wind blew, petals floated gently through the air, creating a dreamy landscape that left everyone in pure delight.
