🇱🇰 Stunning Red Mosque in Pettah Market
Completed in 1909, Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque is one of the oldest mosques in Colombo. It is located on Second Cross Street in Pettah District, where you can find one of the the largest and busiest open-air markets in Sri Lanka. It is undeniable that the red mosque painted in distinctive red and white striped is the most beautiful landmark in the area.
The mosque can be easily reached by both bus and tuk-tuk. Visitors regardless of gender and religion can visit the mosque during certain timings. Remember to dress modestly. The mosque is surrounded by wthe always crowded Pettah Market. A walk through the busy streets filled with merchants selling all kinds of goods is quite an experience itself.

Urban Beach 🏖️
#beachvacation
Although I grew up in a province surrounded by Indian ocean 🌊 on two sides with the second longest shore in the world 🌍, there's always one hesitation in going to the beach 🏖️ which is getting into the beach clothes 😁 As I ain't someone with such nice beach body, going to this urban beach during my Sri Lanka visit was totally worth it. You may still get down to the 🪨 rocky places and have fun there in the water though. Resonating with the common beach ⛱️ scenes in the south east Asia, there are lot of small shops setup in van 🚚 with nice delicacies to enjoy 🍦 I'd also applaud the effort in making this place very neat and decent for families to enjoy!! #tripblazers#urbanexplorer#ukcreator #colombo

2019.01.10 #Singapore ( #singapore ) & #SriLanka ( #srilanka ) Business Trip
While working on my schedule in #Colombo ( #colombo ), I visited Paradise Road The Gallery Cafe.
As the name suggests, it is a gallery that exhibits and sells art pieces including paintings. Moreover, the further I went inside, the more I felt like I was exploring a secret garden.
Even #vanillabeanicecream ( #vanilabeanicecream ), #tiramisu ( #tiramisu ), and #icecoffee ( #icecoffee ) were delicious. It must have tasted even better because it was hot and I had to keep replenishing my water and sugar~

A walk through history 🇱🇰 Colombo National Museum
The Colombo National Museum was established in 1877 by Sir William Henry Gregory, the British Governor of Ceylon at the time. The museum is housed in a two storeys building. The galleries on the ground floor are arranged in a historical sequence starting from the prehistoric ages. The galleries on the upper floor are arranged on a thematic basis.
Be prepared to spend a few hours in the museum if you are interested in the history of Sri Lanka as the museum houses a huge collection of artifacts. There are also many statues of Buddha. You can find one of the most well-preserved statues of Buddha from the fourth century in the lobby.

Seema Malakaya, Serene Temple on floating platforms
🇱🇰
Originally constructed in the late 19th century on Beira Lake, Seema Malakaya is a part of the historic Gangaramaya Temple which is situated 200 m to its east. In 1976, the temple was redesigned and reconstructed as the original structure started to sink in the lake.
Since then, the temple sits on three floating platforms which are connected to each other and to the mainland by floating bridges. There are numerous seated Buddha statues displaying different mudras (hand gestures) on all three platforms. The central platform houses wooden paneled temple for meditation. The view of the surrounding Colombo skyline from the central platform is beautiful. A small entrance fee to the temple applies to foreigners.

🇱🇰 Kite Flying 🪁 in Galle Face Green, Colombo
Galle Face Green is a 500 m promenade in the heart of Colombo, between Galle Road and the Indian Ocean. It was initially laid out in 1859 by Sir Henry Ward, Governor of British Ceylon. The stretch of land was used for horse racing and golf in the 19th century. Being the largest open space in Colombo, this is a popular destination for locals and tourists to spend their leisure time while enjoying the sea breeze from the Indian Ocean.
We spent a leisure afternoon there after visiting One Galle Face Mall which is just opposite to the park. There were a lot of food vendors selling cooked crabs and prawns along the promenade. Clean public washrooms are available too. The kids had a fun time flying a kite and blowing bubbles. The view of the Sri Lankan flag flying high in the background is spectacular. We also got the opportunity to witness flag lowering ceremony at 6 pm.

Cinnamon Red Colombo 🇱🇰 Infinity pool & rooftop bar
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Cinnamon Red Colombo. This 26-floor stylish hotel is close to most attractions in downtown Colombo. Our room was on the 24th floor and the views of the city through the glass-sided wall were superb! Needless to say that the views from the infinity pool on the top floor and the rooftop bar were even more spectacular. We visited the rooftop bar twice throughout our stay. There was a live performance on Friday night. The food and drinks were reasonably priced.
Our room was clean and spacious enough to accommodate 2 adults and 2 kids. It's worth mentioning that there's an ice cube dispenser on every floor of the hotel which made making our own cold drinks much more convenient. The hotel was also accommodative in early check in and late check out subject to room availability.

The different Sights Of Beautiful Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka is a destination that surprises me. Going there on a recent work trip, I never once expected the country to be so beautiful and most people there actually do speak English! But if course, you being a tourists there are alot of street hagglers coming up to you offering tours and cheap deals which generally I won't recommend you should go ahead.
But Sri Lanka itself generally is a safe holiday destination to go to with its many beautiful prestige white beaches, safaris(YES Safaris) which are located in the centre of Sri Lanka(about a 3 - 4 hours drive), and the many tea plantations since Sri Lanka is a heaven for teas!
Do make Sri Lanka a place for a holiday, it is out of this world to be honest, the cheap food, the many friendly locals too!

The Wellawatte Beach(Sri Lanka Best Beaches)
Sri Lanka is like a BIG island where its surrounded by many beautiful beaches. But one of the most popular beaches that you should go to is the Wellawatte Beach located on the west of Sri Lanka near to the city of Colombo.
This Beach is reachable both by car and train via the wellawatta railway, this is popular due to its accessibility and also you will see many people here having pinic with family and friends. The waves here can be quite big at times, but have not seen many people here doing surfing. But this is definitely a good place to spend quality time with family and friends.

The Golden & Cave Temple At Dambulla
If Sri Lanka is one of your bucketlist for travel, you will know that there is so much to see and visit in this underrated destination.
Sri Lanka is not only well known for tea plantations but also the many historic relics, scriptures, temples and tombs. One place where it is a must visit is the Dambulla Royal Cave Tample and Golden Temple located at Jaffna Hwy, Dambulla. This is a very popular tourists attractions since this is named as one of the world heritage site. I am not sure why but most temples have insane amount of steps where this has 364 steps to reach the Cave. And of course, in most temples you are to show respect to the gods where you are required to cover anything below your hips and do remember to bring sarong or sari I did not see any stores selling these stuff. Also, do remember to buy your tickets before entering the temple, you don't wanna wast your effort in climbing and get rejected.

A Breathtaking Scenic Train Ride
Not many will think of Colombo, Sri Lanka as a bucketlist for a tourist destination, many also will think that Sri Lanka is also part of India. Let's throw that all away!
Sri Lanka is a place popular with the many tea plantations thruout the entire country and to see that, hop onto one of the most scenic train ride that starts from Ella To Bandulla. The entire journey we paid was about $1 but of course don't expect 1st class treatment in the train, but you will be able to reserve a seat in one of the carriage to give you panoramic view of the surrounding where you will meet tea plantations, scenic Mountain backdrops and thru the many towns, its a relatively relaxing route.
Do take the train ride all the way to Badulla to have a view of the Demodara Loop where you can see the Arch Bridge(which was built in 19 century?) making this one of the worth while trip on the train.

Gangaramaya Temple in Colombo
Gangaramaya Temple is one of the most important religious and historical building in Colombo. The location is quite convenient as it is in the hearth of the city's down town. The recommended sightseeing time is between one to two hours. The temple is really well preserved and is a pleasure to see in person. Women must be dressed appropriately with no revealing clothes and shoulder should be covered. One advantage is that this place closest very late. It is open to the public from 6:00 am until 10:00 PM.

Coastal Railway Sunset in Colombo
Watching the sunset by the railway tracks in Colombo is a mesmerizing experience. The coastal railway line, running parallel to the Indian Ocean, offers a stunning backdrop as the sun dips below the horizon.
One of the best spots to witness this is along Marine Drive or near Wellawatte Beach, where the tracks are just a few meters from the crashing waves. As the golden light reflects off the rails, the sight of a train passing by against the vibrant sky creates a picture-perfect moment. The mix of urban scenery, old railway tracks, and the vast ocean makes for a simple yet powerful composition.
For a great photo, stand at a safe distance, frame the sunset with the tracks leading into the horizon, and wait for a train to pass. Using natural light and a steady hand, even a phone camera can capture this breathtaking view beautifully.
