Our room had an open-air bath, which we took three times: in the evening, at night, and in the morning.♨️ What I loved most about this ryokan was the wonderful food. Every meal was delicious. I really enjoyed the variety of food, which was carefully seasoned and varied. The breakfast was also gorgeous and very satisfying🍽️ The customer service was also extremely polite and pleasant. this charming traditional onsen village is a must to visit in yamagata prefecture. the town is easy to stroll just one street filled with wooden inns, cafe and souvenir shops along the ginzan river, it brings a fascinating nostalgic atmosphere as the sound of river flows gently. some tourists dress the yukata and explore the village however it is only for guests who made a reservation in any of the inns provided from the ryokan. it is also good for a day trip to merrily enjoy the beautiful town with gorgeous scenery. plan a trip to ginzan onsen it will be a joyful surprise. #japantrip #ryokan #scenicspotguide

There are only eight rooms which means less people sharing the communal Hot Spring, so I was all for it. The surrounding neighborhood is also very peaceful and the ambience is serene and friendly. This property is perfect for couples or solo traveler’s, or even small families. The location is also quite convenient, just a 15 minute walk from Yufui station but a bit difficult to walk with your luggage, so I recommend asking for the free shuttle provided by the property. However, the operating hours are short and you need to book it in advance. The room is minimalistic, but immaculate and relaxing. The communal hot springs are open 24hours and the private family one is also free but need to book it when you check in. The food they serve is truly excellent. If you’re a foodie, you will be satisfied. Highly recommended!

The room comes with a beautiful scenery with a private in-room onsen. We booked ourselves a family room throughout the stay and it was the best choice in my opinion. This Ryokan has a lot more to offer than just the room - it comes with the top notch service, attention to detail and.. most importantly a nightly in-room (10 course I think) kaiseki meal, making sure we are well fed and stay nutritious throughout the stay!! Kotohira Kadan is a luxurious ryokan in Kotohira Onsen town. As the town is not big, it is easy to walk to the ryokan from the town center. The lodging premise is large and has parking a few spaces in front of the ryokan lobby, and a large parking lot just across the street. We booked a four person room with private spa , and it was truly enjoyable. The room has a separate bedroom with two full size beds which were very comfortable. Two other futons were set in the living room in the evening. The bathroom was spacious with a private spa. There is also a balcony with sofa, overlooking the lovely Japanese garden below. We checked in quite late in the evening but the staff were helpful to drive us back into the Main Street and to the few izakayas that were opened. The premise is well maintained. It has two public spa for male and female guests. It also has private spa that can be booked in advance - including a private room with TV, sofa within the spa room. Each guest can book the private spa for one 45 minutes session for free during their stay. Guests can also enjoy a glass of sparkling wine in the bar after 9 pm as well as enjoy the foot bath overlooking the garden. Overall we had a great time at this ryokan and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Kotohira. #ryokan #japan #shikoku #Kotohira
