Mykonos at its finest.
I've always thought Mykonos is a far away dream but then a lucky lay over gave me the opportunity to explore it for a day and what a treat that was. I went from the airport straight to the beach for a swim. The island feels very friendly and safe. then I took a stroll to the wind mills by the coastal path. From there it's an easy walk into town where you can enjoy every thing from local food to luxury brands, all set in the beautiful white and blue buildings typical for Mykonos. I highly recommend getting out of the airport to explore if you have a long layover, it's only a 20min trip to and from.

Sunset at highest point of Athens 🌄
#voyagevibes
Standing 277 meters above sea level, Lycabettus Hill is the highest point of Athens. It is best enjoyed at sunset whilst waiting for the lights of the Acropolis, Temple of Olympian Zeus, Panathenaic Stadium and Ancient Agora to come on. You will also be reminded that Athens is surrounded by sea with spectacular views across the Aegean.
At the top of the hill you will find the Greek whitewashed church of Agios Georgios (St. George) and all are welcome to enter. The viewing platform in front of the church provides sprawling views of Athens, stretching out to the city’s coastline.
Getting there🚟: beautiful walk up via a circular path or funicular railway.

Greece - Meteora, place you must visit once in your lifetime
#naturelovers
Everyone who loves hiking must visit this place at least once in their life.
We grabbed a train from Athens to the small village called Kalambaka that sits right next to these magnificent rock formations. The hike takes between 2-4 hours depending how often stop. As we kept stopping to enjoy the views and take endless photos, you can imagine it took us 4 hours. If you use the little roads to hike, hidden between the trees it is faster instead of following the main road where the car passes.
We took those little pathways and the good thing is the forest provided us a shade in the hot weather, so it made the hiking much easier.
Make sure you pack food, water and wear comfy shoes!

Ig-worthy Cafe in Naxos
#traveldiaries #greece
Honey and Cinnamon Bar is the most photogenic cafe in Naxos island. Not only does the cafe have beautiful flowers and pretty interior decor, the food and drinks are really delicious! The cafe is strategically located in the old town which is near to the port and serves healthy options including healthy pancakes topped with granola and fresh fruits and super berries bowl. Recommended having brunch in this cozy cafe when in Naxos.
Lively bustling square - must visit in Athens!
#traveldiaries #greece
Monastiraki square is centeally located in Monastiraki district and it is bustling in both morning and night! There are plenty to see, experience and shop over there. The Panagia Pantanassa and Tzisdarakis churches can be found here. Every sunday, there is also a flea market organised here and a variety of items can be bought at a cheap price. I got most of my souvenirs over here as they are pretty and reasonably priced. There are many hipster cafes for dine in and I am sure if you look around, you can buy something that you like.
Portara: the inspiration for National Geographic logo
#traveldiaries #greece
Naxos' Temple of Apollo (Portara) is a huge marble gate that is the single remaining part of an unfinished Temple of Apollo of 530BC. Fun fact: National Geographic Logo is inspired by Portara and upon reaching Naxos port, you can spot it from afar! It is an iconic attraction of Naxos and said to be the spot with the best sunset on the island. Pro-tip will then be to come during sunset to have an instagramable photo!

Swimming With Waves In The Caves 🌊
Keri Caves is one of the most beautiful places to visit! Crystal clear waters, clear enough to see the colourful fish beneath you. Perfect place to do snorkelling or scuba diving, I had an amazing time trying to spot all the different types fish. 🐠
Breathtaking views over the beautiful blue sea and stunning sunsets make this a wonderful experience that will stay with you. I 100% would like to visit the keri caves again it was honestly breathtaking. 🌅
In order to visit the caves you have to go by boat but there are plenty of organised trips from nearby towns. You are also allowed to rent a boat without a licence. Some of the caves are big enough to allow a boat to enter. In others you can swim from the entrance to the inside. 🚤
If you are visiting Zakynthos I would highly recommend spending your day/evening visiting here. One of my favourite memories by far!
