Dream holiday on Gili T, Indonesia
Had the most amazing time living the island life here. Got to snorkel off the beach where we saw big turtles, watched an outdoor movie on the beach with cocktails, had the best food with great value for money and did a boat tour where we saw baby turts, amazing corals, island hopped and underwater statues! Travel tip: make sure you get your hotel on the side where you get off the ferry as it’s an island where you cycle to get around, which makes it magical. Obviously had to extend a couple times #indonesia #gilitrawangan #southeastasia #backpacking

Scenic Bus Journey from Sun Moon Lake to Alishan
The journey from Sun Moon Lake to Alishan by public transport can seem challenging, but luckily, I found a direct bus operated by Yuanlin Bus (員林客運), which departs daily at 8 AM from Sun Moon Lake. The trip took just over 3 hours, with two brief rest stops along the way. Be sure to email the bus operator in advance to reserve a seat, as availability is limited. The fare was TWD 336 per person.
It was a scenic and unforgettable ride through the mountains of central Taiwan. As we ascended the winding mountain roads, we were surrounded by lush greenery, dense forests, and towering trees. The scenery transitioned from subtropical vegetation near Sun Moon Lake to misty, high-altitude forests as we approached Alishan. Along the way, we passed bamboo groves, tea plantations, and patches of mist rising through the trees, creating a tranquil and almost mystical atmosphere.

🇭🇰 Time Ball Tower, 1881 Heritage
The Time Ball Tower is an iconic feature located at 1881 Heritage, a historic site in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong. Originally constructed in 1884 as part of the Marine Police Headquarters, the tower was equipped with a time ball mechanism, which was used by mariners to synchronize their chronometers. Every day at 1 p.m., the ball would drop, providing a visual signal for ships anchored in the harbor to set their timepieces accurately.
The Time Ball Tower serves as a reminder of the maritime history of Hong Kong and its colonial past. Although the time ball mechanism no longer functions, the tower remains a popular tourist attraction for its historical significance and architectural beauty.
