Okinawa, Japan is a great place to eat, play, and enjoy beautiful scenery. Most importantly, traveling there feels very comfortable and safe. The food is cheap and delicious, and shopping is stress-free. Transportation is convenient, the weather is great, and accommodations are affordable and clean. The itineraries purchased online offer great value for money. Overall, a five-star experience. I highly recommend everyone to visit Okinawa.

At the end of October 2024, I had the opportunity to travel to Okinawa, Japan as a Solo Trip. This time, I booked Air Asia flights through Trip.com. Everything went smoothly.
From Naha Airport to American Village, which is located in Chatan City, you can take a direct bus. It takes about 1 hour, which is very convenient.
At American Village, there are many shops and restaurants. It is near Aeon Chatan, Sunset Beach, Depot Central, which is a very famous tourist spot. It is near the American military base. Various tour companies bring tourists to shop and take pictures. If anyone has time, I recommend going for a walk to find delicious food, watch the lights and sounds at night, and see fireworks every Saturday.

The wide selection of snacks is also very tasty.
We were very satisfied with the quality, which is hard to believe for a reasonably priced hotel.
Rooms are not large, but they are clean and very comfortable!
Club rooms have La Bottega's "CO.BIGELOW" series shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel, and there are eco-friendly bags that you can take home.

A Fun Getaway to Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium
We decided to stay at a nearby hotel for the night and we settled in and enjoyed a relaxing evening.
The next morning, we spent the entire day at the Churaumi Aquarium. The Kuroshio Sea tank, with its majestic whale sharks and manta rays, was a highlight

Okinawa Accommodation
Choosing the Southwest Grand Hotel on Kokusai Street was truly satisfying. Not only is the location perfect—right downstairs is the busiest street of Kokusai—but the rooms are also spacious and new. The mini bar and lounge offer free drinks and snacks, which I absolutely loved! I'm glad I booked three nights. According to the internet, the hotel just opened last June, and I got the best deal on Trip.

Experiencing Okinawa's Ryūkyū Dance became even more immersive when I dressed in traditional attire. Adorning myself in the vibrant, ornate costumes added a personal connection to the culture.
The intricate patterns and colors not only made me feel like part of the performance but also deepened my appreciation for the artistry involved.
Yotsudake is one of the traditional Ryukyu dances. The dancers wear a flower shaped hat, and a bingata kimono. They hold a pair of instruments similar to castanets which are made from four (yotsu) pieces of bamboo (take). They clap the yotsudake in time to the music.
As I moved, I could feel the rhythm of the music and the spirit of the dance, making it a truly unforgettable way to engage with Okinawa's rich folk traditions.
This hands-on experience allowed me to grasp the significance of the dance and its role in celebrating the island's history and community.

Asia's best Aquarium
The aquarium area was huge and involves quite a bit of walking. Also if you are coming straight from the airport, know that it’s relatively far. I think about 90-100 minutes drive from the airport. The food thing is that there are tons of spaces for parking, but you might have to park quite far away from the main building since it’s crowded.
The aquarium itself was nice as well for a getaway trip. There isn’t much special with it. Most of the exhibits are isolated by species in a small-ish container. Feeding time for the fishes and other events like dolphin shows etc starts around noon from 1 pm, so I’d advise to come not too early or too late. In Asia, this is by far the best Aquarium I visited.

The room I used was a standard twin room (non-smoking),

Still, the room was clean, not too small,
and there was even a large bath, so after a busy trip,
it would be great to go to the large bath at the hotel and relieve your fatigue, right? I used it with satisfaction 🙂

Ryukyu Mura (Ryukyu Village) in Okinawa City
Ryukyu Mura is a small-scale theme park in Okinawa that showcases the traditional culture of the Ryukyu Kingdom for tourists to explore. The park is divided into different zones, including a museum displaying history, shops, souvenir stores, and performance areas. The traditional buildings are characterized by their distinctive red-tiled roofs and are surrounded by stone walls to protect against storms.
Interesting activities at Ryukyu Mura include workshops on various crafts, local Okinawan music performances played with the Sanshin, a traditional Okinawan instrument, and Taiko drumming.
Admission fees: Adults (ages 16 and up) 2,000 yen / High school students 1,500 yen / Children (ages 6 - 15) 800 yen, and children under 6 years old are free.
Access: From downtown Naha, take the bus from Asahibashi / Naha Bus Terminal (Platform 11) on lines 20, 120 to the Ryukyumura stop. The journey takes about 1 hour.
Blue Cave Okinawa
Checked out the blue cave on our own instead of signing up for a tour with the agencies. As we did not intend to swim or snorkel, we decided to go there during low tide. You can check the tides and current on the day itself to decide what time to go. we were quite lucky as there were only 2 other groups of individuals who were in the same area as us. - การเที่ยวในโอกินาวา รถไฟไม่ครอบคลุมทั่วทั้งจังหวัด คนส่วนใหญ่ที่ไปจึงนิยมเช่ารถขับ แต่ก็จะมีรถบัสประจำทางให้บริการค่ะ
- ขับรถในโอกินาวาง่ายมาก มีรถให้เช่าหลายแบบมากและนิยมเช่ารถเปิดประทุนขับกันค่ะ ความเร็วสูงสุดไม่เกิน 60 กม./ชั่วโมง
- จากเหนือสุดถึงใต้สุดของเกาะ ระยะทางประมาณ 130 กิโลเมตร ใช้เวลาประมาณ 2 ชั่วโมง
- ออมนัทไปช่วงเดือนตุลาคม อากาศกำลังเย็นสบายเลย แต่ถ้าใครอยากเล่นน้ำทะเลจะค่อนข้างเย็น
- โอกินาวา เคยเป็นฐานทัพของอเมริกามาก่อน บ้านเมืองก็จะมีกลิ่นอายของความเป็นอเมริกาอยู่

Amazing hotel with an ONSEN!
Ryukyu Onsen Senagajima Hotel is my favorite hotel in Okinawa. It’s one of the several hotels with an in-hotel onsen or hot spring in Okinawa. The male and female onsen switches daily and it’s free for hotel stayers. We went morning and night because we liked it so much! It is a stunning place with a beautiful view of the turquoise sea. The amenities are also great, beds are super comfy and breakfast is delicious.

Paradise Next Door at Senaga Island Okinawa

Blue Sky, Blue Sea. Okinawa is a paradise, you can simply take a postcard rated photo anywhere in the island.
Senaga island located nearby to the airport, just few minutes drive. There is a hottest tourist spots "Umikaji Terrace", you can take a good photo and taste some local Okinawa food there. Recommend to try 'A Happy Pancake', this shop's pancake is make to order so you might need to wait a long time if there is long queue however it's worth to wait.
Getting There - Drive from Okinawa Naha Airport takes about 10minute

The address is the parking lot. If you love hikes and you’re all about “the journey is more important than the destination” then this is a place for you. I think August is the best time to go and hike and swim because it’s not overwhelming humid. It’s bearable. Make sure to wear proper footwear because hiking with flip flops was the worst!!! 😂
