#timetotravel Meta, a Korean French fusion fine dining restaurant in Singapore, has recently been named number 20 in the “Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants” awards in 2023. Meta changes its menu regularly. When I visited, we were served the Tuna Sandwich, Beef and Uni Gimbap and Ika and Kimchi salt Twigim as our amuse bouche. The menu consists of six courses: Saeu Muchim, Gyeran Jjim (a steamed egg dish served with spring peas, cabbage and kimchi), Dongjuk (surf clams porridge), Kinki (Rockfish with daikon), Yang (lamb saddle) and a Korean BBQ. As an Eastern and Western fusion fine dining restaurant, chef Sun Kim blends the very different flavours seamlessly in his dishes, as well as executing the dishes with finesse. I also really enjoyed the white and earthy tones of the interior design as well as the ambience of the restaurant. However, I personally would not re-visit the restaurant because it is certainly not cheap (the dinner menu is priced at $298 SGD per person (~ 1724.4 HKD) and the full wine pairing is priced at $208 SGD per person (~1203 HKD); and the use of ingredients is not top quality. But this time my friend and I were craving Korean food. We found this gem of a Korean BBQ place using the DianPing (a Chinese app) and it did not disappoint! The decor alone is worth a visit, the owner’s attention to detail really made this an immersive experience. Not to mention all the food we ordered was cooked so well and delicious! I was so enticed with this korean food adventure with kimchi, seasoned soybean sprouts, spinach, spicy cucumber salad and fish cake as side dishes. More so, the lettuce wrapping for meat was served with the meat like Dae-pae, Beef samgyupsal, Buljib ready for grilling.
