Just a 5-minute drive from Cape Hedo, the northernmost tip of Okinawa Main Island. Past the Ohayashi Stone Mountain, you'll find 'Kayauchi Banta.' In Okinawan dialect, 'Banta' means cliff. It's an 80-meter-high sheer cliff, and you can see the Ginama Fishing Port below 👀 The name comes from the fact that when bundled thatch is thrown off the cliff, it gets battered by the wind and scatters. The road that passes by Kayauchi Banta is called 'Modoru Michi' (Return Road). In the past, only one person could pass through this road, making it difficult to travel from the Ginama settlement to the Hedo settlement. However, the children of the Ginama settlement had to go to school in the Hedo settlement, climbing the 'Return Road.' Many children couldn't attend school because it was difficult to commute to Hokugoku Elementary School (formerly Hedo Elementary School), which has since been closed. About 100 years ago, the principal who was assigned to Hedo Elementary School noticed the low number of students attending and investigated the cause. The principal realized that the 'Return Road' was the reason children couldn't come to school and called on the villagers to widen the road, making it easier for people to travel. When driving, it is recommended to go from near Cape Hedo. Located near Yachimun Street in Naha City, this creative Okinawa soba restaurant is popular among tourists. They also offer a garlic soy sauce-based beef and bean sprout soba topped with plenty of bean sprouts and garlic chives, as well as chilled soba. If you like cilantro, the beef and bean sprout soba with cilantro is highly recommended. Since it had been a while since I last visited Okinawa Island, I decided to stop by. This time, I tried the spicy beef and bean sprout soba with cilantro topping. The taste is reminiscent of Nakamoto's Hokkyoku Ramen but with a bit more umami. Delicious! You can choose the type of noodles, but I prefer the fresh noodles for their chewy texture.

Tsuken Island is an Okinawan remote island that can be accessed in about 15 minutes by high-speed boat or 30 minutes by ferry from Heshikiya Port, near the tip of the Yokatsu Peninsula in Uruma City. Tsuken Island is a small island where 60% of the island is carrot fields, and it is also known as "Carrot Love Land". It is an island that can be fully enjoyed even on a day trip, so I took advantage of my day off to visit it. I used a rental bicycle to tour the island. I rented a bicycle for 500 yen a day at "Azuma Shoten", which is a short walk from Tsuken Port. First, I went to the tourist attractions "Hotugaa" and "Carrot Observatory". The distance between the two is very close by bicycle, but there are many steep slopes, so I needed a lot of physical strength to pedal the bicycle. After that, I went to "Tumaihama (Tsuken Beach)". The highly transparent cobalt blue sea is a masterpiece. There are also facilities on the beach where you can enjoy marine sports, snacks, and BBQ. A breathtaking cafe overlooking Unten Port. Each photo spot, inspired by Bali, Hawaii, and Mexico, is incredibly well-crafted! The birdcage, in particular, was super cute. I went there for a meal, but it seems that the menu was completely different when my friend went in September compared to when I went in October. Little Universe OKINAWA is located on the grounds of the shopping mall IIAS Okinawa Toyosaki, near Naha Airport in Tomigusuku City. This is Okinawa's newest spot, which opened in April 2024. It is an entertainment facility that combines the latest technologies such as digital spatial production, miniatures, and AR. Admission is 2,800 yen for adults. Okinawa residents can get a discount of 2,000 yen. An additional 1,500 yen will be charged for creating your own real avatar and 3D stamp. However, there is a discount campaign until January 31, 2025. A set of admission ticket + real avatar creation is 2,500 yen for adults. We purchased tickets as a set. When we passed through the entrance, we found spaces with various themes. The atmospheres of the spaces were completely different, such as the world of mirrors, the Ryukyu Dynasty area, and the retro Tokyo area, so we were able to enjoy each one fresh. Once you create your real avatar, you can enter this miniature world using your smartphone. The avatars can be easily controlled with a smartphone to walk, run, dance, etc., and can be recorded as they are or in photos and videos, so it was very interesting. After the miniature world, we watched RYU-KYU Universe, where the scenery of Okinawa is projected in 360 degrees using projection mapping. The exhibits, such as the Okinawan coral sea exhibit, the aquarium exhibit integrated with video, and the experience of riding on top of the aquarium and feeling like you're in the ocean, are all amazing in their ingenuity in the exhibition space. There is also a corner where you can meet animals, not just sea creatures, and there is no concept of fences or cages! You can meet cute animals up close! The cutest thing was the sloths after all~ I couldn't help but love the way they moved slowly with their round eyes♡ It was less crowded than the Churaumi Aquarium, so I was able to spend time leisurely, and the exhibits were not too few or too many, so I was very satisfied with the aquarium. The view from the terrace is stunning, with the clear blue sea and sky providing a soothing experience. For a leisurely stroll, start by visiting the stylish cafes and shops within Umikaji Terrace. There are stores selling Okinawan specialties and handmade crafts, making shopping enjoyable. When we went, it was already fully booked, so I recommend making a reservation! The interior is stylish and has a bright atmosphere. Modern JPOP versions of Okinawan music play in the background, which really lifts the mood. The menu features unique dishes that are creative takes on Okinawan cuisine. Each dish is colorful, carefully crafted, and delicious!! Even if you're not a big fan of Okinawan food, you'll likely enjoy this place. It has become a must-visit izakaya whenever we go to Miyako Island.

Located in Mihama, Chatan Town, Nakagami District, Okinawa Prefecture. It's less than an hour by rental car from the airport, and you can also take a limousine bus which takes about an hour. The hotel is new, so it was very clean and beautiful. There is a Lawson convenience store directly connected to the first floor of the hotel, making it convenient for small purchases. Although you can't see the sea from the guest rooms, the rooms are spacious and very satisfying. The amenities are well-equipped. Breakfast is a buffet, and the tuna was very delicious. You can also enjoy a hot spring here, which allowed for a very relaxing stay.
