Shikoku Takamatsu - Night Views x Maple Leaves x Design
Last November, when we arrived in Takamatsu, our first stop was Yashima. At the Shishi-no-Reigan Observatory, we overlooked Takamatsu City and the Seto Inland Sea. By the time we reached the mountain, it was already dark. Our family of four groped through Yashima Temple, one of the 88 sacred sites of Shikoku, and were greeted by a stunning night view! Takamatsu may not be considered a big city by Hong Kong standards, but its flat urban landscape creates a unique and breathtaking night scene. From the heights, looking down at the tranquil city, the photo-like view was deeply etched in our minds. On the first day of our trip, our family fell in love with this place.
But the surprises of Yashima go beyond the night scenery. Next to the observatory is the Yashima Mountain Exchange Center, a masterpiece of architecture completed in 2022. This curved viewing corridor seems to compete with the romantic night scenery in terms of architectural aesthetics, making it hard to decide where to focus your gaze. Adding to the beauty are the outdoor maple leaves. The night maples, paired with the distant city lights, rival the famous maple viewing spots like Kankakei and Ritsurin Garden. The city's nightscape, the red maples, and the architectural beauty complement each other, creating a chorus of exclamations on Yashima Mountain.
To create an unforgettable spot, some regrets are inevitable. Unfortunately, we went up the mountain at night and couldn't enjoy the sunset from the west-facing observatory. If we could have seen the sunset with the evening glow, accompanied by the gradually falling night, it would have been unimaginably beautiful and awe-inspiring.

After nearly 10 trips to Japan🌏, Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka have all seen my footprints. But today, I want to reveal to you a hidden treasure in Japan—Takamatsu Castle!🏙️
No need to detour through Hong Kong, direct flights from Shanghai to Takamatsu are now available!✨
Let me take you on a four-day, three-night island-hopping fantasy trip!🚀
💖Accommodation: Immerse yourself in the romantic nights at Takamatsu Port, where all three nights will be a perfect experience!
🌸Day 1: Takamatsu—Ritsurin Garden
🎋Ritsurin Garden, the third-ranked Michelin three-star garden in Japan, offers scenery that can compete with any garden or temple in Kyoto! The Nan-en's 'Hiraiho' is like nature's magic mirror, reflecting the beauty of the garden in full. Don't forget to taste the matcha and sweets at Kyugetsu-tei Pavilion; the texture of the dango is absolutely unforgettable!
🌊Day 2: Takamatsu—Naoshima
🚤Take a large ferry or a high-speed boat to Naoshima. The larger ferry is more stable and comfortable, a wise choice. Here, you will encounter Yayoi Kusama's red and yellow pumpkins, becoming a unique landmark in your journey. The white mesh structure of Naoshima Pavilion and the profound art of Chichu Art Museum will be unforgettable memories of your trip.

✨This is a journey full of fantasy and beauty, like a real-life Suzunari journey. Don't hesitate any longer, come to Takamatsu and start your adventure!🌠
Don't go to Tokyo, these smaller cities in Japan are more interesting!
I've been living in Japan for almost a year without realizing it. In addition to the well-known Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto, I've also visited quite a few smaller cities. Here are some of my personal favorite small cities for those who are struggling to decide where to go (in no particular order)
⭕ Takamatsu
Takamatsu is the capital of Kagawa Prefecture in Shikoku, and it was the first place I visited on my trip to Japan 10 years ago. It has a famous nickname as the hometown of udon noodles, so you can enjoy various kinds of udon here. Also, the triennial 'Setouchi Triennale' art festival is an event not to be missed, and from Takamatsu Port, it's very convenient to travel to treasure islands such as Shodoshima, Naoshima, and Teshima.
⭕ Kochi
It could be said to be the most low-key capital city in the Shikoku region. This is the hometown of the anti-shogunate warrior Sakamoto Ryoma. During my half-day city walk in Kochi, I truly felt the city's tranquil atmosphere. Additionally, I particularly like Kochi's trams, which have super cute liveries.
⭕ Tokushima
Tokushima is also a place I visited on my first trip to Japan. The Awa Dance is a local specialty here, and you must see it. Also, the Iya Valley is a great place to escape the summer heat.
⭕ Onomichi
A small city facing Shikoku across the sea from Honshu, it has both mountains and sea, and cycling is very popular here. Cycling from Onomichi to Shikoku's 'Shimanami Kaido' is known as Japan's most beautiful cycling route. Ramen and oysters are local specialties here. Oh, and Yasujiro Ozu's famous work 'Tokyo Story' was also filmed in Onomichi.
⭕ Kanazawa
The largest city in the Hokuriku region of Japan. It is also a city with a 'high gold content.' Ninety-nine percent of Japan's gold leaf is produced here, so you can buy various gold leaf products, including food and drinks containing gold leaf. Additionally, one of Japan's three great gardens, Kenrokuen, is also located in Kanazawa.
⭕ Saga
Saga in Kyushu is often rated as one of the cities in Japan with the least presence. But after going to Saga, I fell in love with it. Saga's ramen and Wagyu beef are really delicious, and the key is that they are much cheaper than in big cities. A double portion of Saga beef for just over 5000 yen is incredibly tempting.
⭕ Hakodate
I've been to Hakodate twice, once in autumn and once in winter. Compared to Sapporo, Hakodate is much more interesting. From Mount Hakodate, you can see the million-dollar night view, and Goryokaku Park is a treasure with beautiful scenery all year round.
Check in at the Michelin three-star circuit-style courtyard hidden in Takamatsu city!
In Takamatsu city, Japan, there is a garden that has been hidden for hundreds of years. It is hidden in the city, unrelated to the hustle and bustle, and is quiet in a corner. It is the 'Ritsurin Park' rated as a three-star destination by the Michelin Tour Guide.
Walking into Ritsurin Park, the green fields and fresh air make me feel relaxed. It is said that there are a thousand pine trees in it, which are matched with buildings, rockeries, and lakes. Walking or boating during the period can be described as changing scenery with every step, and it is worthy of its reputation as a 'circuit-style daimyo garden' in Japan.
In addition to outdoor viewing, going to the indoor of the Ritsurin Park building, either sitting quietly and drinking tea to enjoy the outside scenery, or taking pictures with the building as the medium and the scenery as the background, is also a picturesque viewing experience.
Overall, I think this destination is very worth recommending. After a trip, I still have a lot to do. I look forward to having the opportunity to come here again, and feel the ease here with a more 'slow' speed and mentality.

The Ritsurin Garden symbolizes the prime of "encircled garden" during the Edo period. Whichever season you choose, different views are here for you. I love the Holding Moon Pavilion most. It's a nice place to take a picture because pines, texture painted on small stones, pond and others in the park look very exquisite. I ordered a cup of steamed green tea and fruits to enjoy the scenery. I felt so good!
Mew Travel Lilin Park | Michelin recommended, Japanese garden in the painting
a place that is expected in this trip ~
Li Lilin Park began to build in 1642, spent 100 years Time is carefully carved, green mountains and green waters, one step at a time, each scene can constitute a quaint Japanese scroll.
We came early in the morning, there are still no people in the park, only occasionally seeing a few garden workers pruning plants. The sun is still obscured by the clouds, showing a blue-yellow, cool-toned picture, full of mystery, quiet and quiet, with an unreal feeling, thinking that he is still in a dream.
There are gradually a few sun rays coming in through the intertwined branches and leaves, and it has become another dreamy scene. It is really beautiful.
has six pools and thirteen rockeries, all of which offer a completely different style of view. The pine trees are particularly rich in variety, and they are elegant and classical. Many of them are two or three hundred years old, so they are so admired!
When you walked to the lake, there was a feeling of openness in front of you. The semicircular Lunar Bridge in the middle of the lake is reflected on the water. The boat is layered and layered. The level is full of Zen. There are many koi in the water. When people come over, they will look up and eat.
When you are tired, you will take a nap in the pavilion surrounded by the lake. The room in the tatami room is too pleasant. Matcha is accompanied by traditional Japanese snacks. This exquisite environment is worth staying all day, and the time goes by.
Mew travel, Showa style barbecue shop, fell in love with this thick fireworks atmosphere
Showa style shop is always people can not help but see a few more eyes - just happen to be near dinner time, the original want to go to several I haven't opened the door yet, and I was attracted by this store, I tried this smoke-filled rotisserie.
The store is compact but not crowded. It reveals some small details that are quite interesting. It doesn't take long before you sit down, people are getting more and more, and soon the store has begun to line up.
I highly recommend their viscera platter, full of a large plate, and can eat five kinds at a time, the ingredients are very fresh, the oil is sufficient, and the chew is very elastic.
Meat platter may be a bit less for people with a big appetite. While eating and smelling the rich flavour of the meat on the grill, the appetite is wide open!
Seeing that the foreigner at the next table may not be used to the internal organs, he ordered some beef, but fortunately, there is also a staple food to choose from.
(1016, 1-chome, Takamachi, Takamatsu, Japan)
I recently went to Japan to enjoy the flowers in the spring. I dont want to waste time on the traffic and want to avoid the crowd. I often recommend Takamatsu City next to the Seto Inland Sea in the Shikoku area. It is super convenient to fly directly from Shanghai or go to Osaka to play by bus. !
Its Michelins Lilin Park that comes to Takamatsus spring. For the first time, I know that the park also has Michelin. Although the name is "Lilin", there are actually more than 1,400 pine trees in it. The garden of four hundred years of history is very beautiful. The bridges and pavilions are very good for one step. Now the plum blossoms in the garden have been opened, and the cherry blossoms will continue in the end of March. Open, the most suitable time to come!
Wear a kimono to visit Japanese gardens. Its a good place to rent a kimono. The garden pavilion on the right hand side of the park, the style of the kimono is pretty good, and the price is also very high. La, wear a kimono to visit the garden to see the flowers and gray often feel, concave shape photo beauty!

Autumn Vibes and Pine Breezes | Stroll Under the Maple Trees in Ritsurin Garden
In early December, the red maple leaves and green pine trees in Ritsurin Garden complement each other beautifully. The garden is filled with pine trees, with around 1,400 in total, of which about 1,000 have been pruned by artisans. After 300 years, the branches of these artisan-pruned pine trees have become as beautiful as bonsai. The unique shape of the short box pines in the park, which have been pruned by artisans for over 300 years, left a deep impression on me.
Kikugetsu-tei offers Japanese tea snacks. It is a square tea room-style elegant building and the central building of the circular daimyo garden. For JPY 700, you can enjoy matcha while admiring the garden by the lake.

#Overseas travel
There aren't many types, but the best thing is that the hotels within 100,000 won
are in good locations and provide breakfast.
Olive rice was also served for breakfast at Comfort Hotel
It was so delicious that I wanted to eat it at home.
The breakfast restaurant had wide seats, so it was convenient to use.
However, most restaurants near the hotel close early
So you should avoid eating too late!
