Family-friendly Hotels in Qinghai, China

Great location for a modern hotel with nice healthy food buffet breakfast and good espresso machine COFFEE. Location close to Xining Railway station and 3 km walking distance to the Muslim old quarters where variety fruits, potato snacks, breads, and hand pulled noodles to try. The staff not conversant in English but with google translate on my phone, had no issue conveying my written message. Luv the flexibility of early check in and later check outs that made our stay memorable and highly recommended to tourist to explore Xining and catch the later evening train. Our room tv movie box was not working, no international English channels and strong wind cause ceiling boards to rattle for a while. This small issues to us as we are seldom in the room but outside exploring. Special thanks to staff Ms. Yun Yan for the farewell milk candies gift and delightful fruits basket during our stay. Highly recommended to all to stay here to catch the Xining trains or central Bus stations nearby.

The location of the Boli Yabu Hotel is very convenient. There are a lot of shops around. Upon arrival we had a very warm welcome from the receptionist Xiao Yang. She helped us with the check-in and showed us the room. We also got a free upgrade to room with a nice view. The room was very clean and comfortable. We got a free welcome snack and some fruits. We would definitely recommend the hotel and book it again when returning to Xining.

We were impressed by the front desk staff n grateful for Celine the manager. She helped us to get transport to go to Qinghai lake. She was able to speak English and make communication easier for us. We had a wonderful and memorable time in Xining. We hope to come back again.

The room itself in the hotel was amazing and especially considering the price we paid. 10/10. There is a small convenience store next door at the bottom, which makes it easy to get essentials. There is a man, I didn't get his name. He was on night shifts at the front desk with glasses and was by far the most helpful hotel receptionist I've ever met. These things make me look back very fondly on my stay at Sanyu.

Stayed for three nights. Every day, I ordered dinner at the restaurant on the second floor. The staff delivered it to the room without charging any service fee. It was great. The dishes in the restaurant were delicious and the hotel services were very good. It is worth recommending!

This is really an International Hotel with 5 star standard. Service, amenities and room toiletries is of premium quality except the central aircon is not switched on so the room temperature is at 25°C cannot be adjusted much lower, only can switch to fan full blast but not cold. When I lodge a complaint, the staff says they don't switch the central aircon for month of May but advise to just open the window as it gets cold in the evening. The cold air do come in through the window to keep the room cool.They will switch on the central aircon in month of June and July when it's very hot. Overall I love this hotel as it's next to the railway station and many local street food around the hotel. Highly recommended!

The complimentary late night snacks and fruit and yogurt snacks are welcome, they are all delicious, not just a formality, and the breakfast is rich. The hotel's facilities will age year by year, but daily maintenance and customer service can be better and better. Therefore, service is more important than hardware. I am very happy that I chose to stay at Xingwang International during my trip to Qinghai. (It would be even better if there is a makeup mirror next to the sink!)

However they should look into the coffee bean maker as it was really slow to churn out a good cup of coffee! Could be that the piping needs to be checked or even cleaned out!? Overall, it was a good experience. Hallway to the rooms lighting uses sensor, which perhaps need to be adjusted, as it requires heavy stomping of the feet to light up. Thanks!

I will start off by saying that the room and bathroom were well appointed, the staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was delicious. However, whilst the room was generally clean, when I dropped something that subsequently rolled under a fitted unit, I was pretty disgusted to see the dust and filth beneath it. It clearly had not been cleaned for…well…ever? I appreciate that these areas will not be as clean as the more visible parts of the room, however for a five star hotel, this is unacceptable. I do not expect to find dirty tissues and a thick layer of dust and dirt anywhere in my hotel room. But by far the absolute worst part of my stay was the inability to control the temperature in the room whatsoever. The room was so swelteringly hot that despite the comfortable bed, and everything to go with it, I was almost unable to sleep at all. I do not expect this in a five star hotel(and have never experienced it other than here and at anther Wanda hotel in Hohhot), I pay for luxury; controlling the room temperature is a basic requirement that I can even do in a 50 yuan a night hostel dorm. When I asked the staff at reception the following morning I was told the AC wouldn’t be available until after April 15th because ‘it’s cold outside’. Firstly, I am not sleeping outside, I am sleeping inside, on the 22nd floor, where it is anything but cold. Not to mention it was April, not January, even in Xining it is not that cold. Secondly, as a paying guest, in a five star hotel, it should be up to me to decide if it is hot or cold, not the hotel. For this reason, as lovely as the room, staff and breakfast may have been, I would not stay here again. I checked out and moved to the lower rated Hilton, where I could control the room temperature and actually managed to sleep…generally what the whole point of a hotel is.

The old hotel is well renovated and maintained, with a smart toilet, comfortable bedding, and homemade yogurt. This is one of the better quality options in Golmud (there aren’t many). The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was good. Unfortunately, the service was very poor - there were no functioning USB ports in the room and the hotel was unhelpful - seeming unwilling or unable able to offer a solution. The “room service” is actually takeaway food delivered from outside the hotel but no cutlery/chopsticks was provided with it. When we asked the hotel to provide some, it took nearly 20 minutes to arrive (longer than the food itself), by which time the food was getting cold. We had to ask repeatedly for sufficient drinking water, having only been provided two small bottles for two people. Aside from the poor service, the hotel is in an odd location, surrounding by closed shops and building sites - nowhere near the commercial centre of the city - with nothing within walking distance. With the right management, it could be an excellent hotel, but it’s not quite there at the moment.
