|1.56km from city centerCheck in process was not smooth due to room keys not programming correctly at check in. We were sent upstairs to “try” the key which of course didn’t work. The hotel staff was very kind about it and came up to let us into the room until keys could be programmed. The major disappointment was our room. It had 2 doubles which is perfect for family traveling, but the glass shower is front and center with a view from every direction within the room and from the exterior hallway. Not a family friendly stay.

|1.2km from city centerI have never written a bad review for any establishment I've been to ...but this was very upsetting and handled very wrong! At check-in, I gave license plate information for 2 of my cars. After I checked out, I found a ticket on 1 of my cars for non-payment of parking. Gave the ticket to front desk, and was told ”we'll take care of it”. Called 2 days later and spoke to Grace, their GM to follow-up and was told I never gave them info for 2 cars, only 1. She wouldn't even give me her supervisor's name, said I have to call customer service. I did that and they were unable to assist me and told me that their Gen Mgr has final say. Really???!!!

|1.2km from city centerMy family and I stayed here for a last minute weekend trip to Wilmington. The location was perfect - easy walk to all the downtown area and riverfront district. Hotel was quiet, comfortable and clean. We experienced no issues with our room. Beds were comfortable and the ac unit was quiet. As always with all hotels, I did not like the pillows. Unfortunately I forgot mine at home. Bathroom/shower were clean and the room decor I thought was modern. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, greeted us and quick to assist. Even the valet staff were quick and friendly. Breakfast was normal free breakfast. Nothing spectacular but the basics were there. Pool is small but clean. We looked at the fitness room but did not use. It also looked clean. Great place for a weekend visit especially if you want to walk around town. Highly recommend.

|4.41km from city centerSam and BJ were absolutely exceptional during the check-in/check out process. Despite what other individuals have posted regarding this location in the past, it is currently immaculate and and even the rate is extremely competitive considering you are only 15-20 minutes away from the beach :-). I look forward to future visits to this location.

|6.22km from city centerTraditional American family hotels are my favorite tone, solemn, practical and clean with details, between these pure family travel and business family + business style.
Not far from costco and walmart
Important message: If you drive a tram, there is a EV connect charging station in the gm 4S behind the hotel. It is a DC fast charging, very fast and very convenient.
Willmington's beach is good, such as calorina beach, white people mainly like to travel and vacation places

|3.75km from city centerThis might be weird to comment on but I loved the bathroom in my room at this hotel! It was well stocked with towels, had plenty of hooks and rods to hang stuff on, and lots of surface area and shelving for my hair and beauty supplies. I was camped out there for a few days while my dad was in the hospital and I could not be more grateful for the kind and caring staff. They tended to my needs including extending my stay when I learned my dad would be there a few more days and fixing my key cards proactively so I wouldn't have trouble coming and going. The free breakfast and other little details allowed me to focus on my dad. Thanks so much!

|10.19km from city centerThe staff was really nice. Excellent location to walk to shopping and nearby restaurants. We had a power outage during our stay due to a storm. FYI, there is no generator to power the whole building, so if you are traveling and know it may be bad weather, it's not the best option. Some rooms had AC, and others didn't. Power was randomly on different circuits. It was definitely an interesting situation for all. Luckily, it got handled, and the power came back on before bedtime. We like the size of suites. But many things need to be cleaned and replaced. Our shower curtain smelled terrible. There was tile broken in the bathrooms along the tub. Microwaves and floors were super dirty. The carpets needed to be replaced. Next renovation just ditch the carpets. It's much cleaner and healthier for all. Overall, our stay was pleasant, and time spent with family is priceless, but unless they get a generator and renovate, we probably won't return.

|11.38km from city centerI stayed at this hotel for work a trip. Prior to me arriving, my manager booked my stay and at the time of the booking he stated that the stay should be completely charged on his credit card. The Hampton Inn employee stated because we are with a group, the security deposit would be $15 per day and I was aware that a charge would be on my personal credit card, which was fine . When I checked in, the lady at the desk said she would charge for the security deposit. I was staying for 3 nights , so there should have been a charge of $45. Once I got to my room, I checked my account and saw there was a $500 charge on my account . I went back down to the front desk and calmly said to the lady, I am just looking for clarity on why my card was charge this amount when that’s not the agreement that was told by phone. I was immediately met with hostility and was told “I’m not going to argue with you, you can talk to the manger.” The manager Sheeri Hightower came out and she was just as rude. She was very dismissive and told me no credit card was on file for my reservation and that’s why I was charge. That was a complete lie , because you can’t even book a reservation without a credit card and if that was the case, why wasn’t that mentioned when I checked in??! So, I went back to my room. As I walked away, I heard Sheeri Hightower and her employee laughing at me as I walked away(Nice way to make your guest feel welcomed.)To make a long story short, I had my manager email over his credit card info so he could cover the reservation. My manager called me and told me he talked to the front desk and it should be handled. Instead of the hotel manager calling me to tell me the issue was resolved and my credit card would be refunded, I heard nothing from them. So I stopped by the front desk again, Just to confirm they received my managers credit card and that it would be refunded . Again, I was met with an attitude and was talked to In a condescending tone. The following day, I was at the bar by the pool and the manager Sheeri Hightower walked behind the bar, looked dead at me and didn’t speak . She turned her back to me and ate a hamburger behind the bar and never acknowledged me. Once she was done, she walked away. The Hampton Inn needs to take a better look at the type of people they are hiring . I have been a customer service manager for 15 years and I would never be this rude to a customer. When my company has another convention, I will recommend they find another hotel. I will never stay here again.

|4.02km from city centerI recently had a horrible experience at Coastal Inn Suites that I feel compelled to share. The manager and owner live on the property, and the lobby is only open from 7 AM to 10 PM each day. If you need assistance outside of these hours, you're supposed to call a posted after-hours phone number. Unfortunately, this system is extremely flawed. At 5 in the morning, my keycard wasn't working, so I called the after-hours number for help. The man who answered was clearly upset that I had woken him up. After verifying my room number, he confirmed it, but it turned out to be the wrong number. When the key still didn't work, I called him again. He begrudgingly walked over, only to rudely tell me that my friend had locked the door from the inside and that I had to deal with it myself. He then walked away without helping any further. Desperate, I knocked on the door, and to my shock, a random man answered—it turned out the manager had given me the wrong room number. This was a very dangerous situation, as a young woman knocking on a strange man's hotel room door in the early morning could have led to serious consequences. Eventually, I found my correct room. When the owner realized his mistake, he began cussing at me hatefully down the hallway. The next morning, when confronted about his rudeness and the dangerous situation he had put me in, he continued to argue and was extremely rude. This level of unprofessionalism and the potential danger it posed is unacceptable. I would never recommend Coastal Inn Suites to anyone. Save yourself the trouble and find somewhere else to stay.

|7.45km from city centerWe usually like to stay on the beach at Wrightsville but lately the hotel prices there have been north of $600 a night, so we decided to try staying here about 5 miles off the beach. The hotel feels very new and is super clean and trendy/nice in common areas and in the suites. Even the 2 queen bed suite feels very spacious and has a curtain between those 2 beds and the pull out sofa, which didn't have that crumby feel. Nice kitchenette with fuller size fridge and true freezer. The outdoor areas (outside the breakfast buffet area and near the pool are equally nice (pool is on the small side with not alot of loungers for sunbathing). It was nice to have free parking and breakfast buffet although we found the breakfast buffet foods are not restocked that often unlike we've experienced at other hiltons so often out of bagels, etc. The waffle iron needs replaced because it doesn't work properly where the waffles come out easily (even with spray) like they do at other Hilton properties - many had plates of ripped apart waffles. However, it was still nice to have a free buffet and the buffet area is nice so despite this, it was fine and one can always head out to a local restaurant if desired. Pet friendly too - we saw some cute doggos. Had no impact on the cleanliness factor/feeling.

|5.48km from city centerThis was our 1st visit to the Comfort Suites and came away impressed with the room, staff and price. Our king room was very large with refrigerator, sink and sleep sofa. In for the Cape Fear Azalea Festival, our price was $20 less when booked 2 months ago verses current rates and lower than other like lodgings in and around Market Street. The continental breakfast was fine with waffles, bacon, sausage, and scrambled eggs. There were plenty of muffins, bagels, breads, fruits, oatmeal, juices, coffee and teas. Checking in on a Thursday afternoon we found the young lady at the front desk to be efficient, personable and informative. We would definitely stay here when in Wilmington again. We noticed the pool was empty during our April 4-8 visit but would guess it would be ready to go by May 1.

|7.76km from city centerWe arrived late because we were traveling from NH to move our daughter in to her apartment. After reading the negative reviews I waited to book my points until we got here. When I walked in at 11:56 the woman at the front desk said to book asap before 12. So I booked a queen bed and a pull out couch because that is all that was left for points. After she realized we were there with our daughter, she upgraded us to two queens and a much larger room. She was so accommodating and super nice. I wish I got her name (she was working August 2nd at 11:56). When we got to our room it was really nice and large. Yes, it is dated (but very clean) and the rooms are pet friendly so there were dogs there but they didn’t bark at all. The room smelled nice. No bugs (like people mentioned) and we had a great nights sleep before we had to move a truck load of furniture. The breakfast was also very good. Eggs, oatmeal (with a million toppings), sausage, bagels, toast, muffins. The woman running the breakfast was also super nice walking around and asking everyone if they needed anything. I definitely recommend this place.

|7.76km from city centerFirst time I have ever entered a hotel room and had serene music playing. It set a relaxing atmosphere to rest in a very comfortable bed in a very nice hotel. Also very friendly and helpful desk staff.

|10.83km from city center(+) The hotel is certainly new (as of August 2024) and everything feels that way (furniture, carpets, elevators, common areas etc.) (+) The area around the hotel is nice and convenient. ~10 min drive to Johnnie Mercers Fishing Pier and Wrightsville Beach, ~30 min to Topsail Beach. No shady people around the hotel, feels very safe. (+) Staff is very friendly (+) 24/7 access to coffee/tea in the lobby is a big thing in my book! Love it! (+) There is a pool table in the lobby!!! I think this is the first hotel I've ever been to with a pool table! (+/-) Breakfast is offered, although it is extremely basic and bland. (-) Room cleaning could be a bit better. We usually go barefoot in hotel rooms in the summer, and we took off our shoes right away when we first entered the room. We quickly realized it was a mistake as floors were simply dirty. We've seen roomkeeping staff with vacuum cleaners though, so hopefully this was not a systemic thing there. (-) Breakfast can be a hit or miss, both in terms of quality and quantity. The first morning it was okay-ish, but the second morning (Sunday) there were much more people in the hotel, and the staff had a hard time to refill omelette area in time for people coming down to have a breakfast. In general, I would not expect a free hotel breakfast to be great, but I feel like it was excessively bland here.

Wilmington
|1.31km from city centerOkay, I am going to say that the hotel itself is clean, comfy and the staff is friendly and efficient. The property is in the downtown area and adjacent to the local college campus and is a River front property... and that ladies and gents is my only issue. What I am about to write will no doubt be read by people who will think Hmmm, what a self-entitled ***** and to that I will correct you and ask you to remove the ”self” part and focus SOLELY on the ENTITLED part. I am and have been for several years a Diamond HHonors member. You achieve Diamond (Hilton's HIGHEST level of guest loyalty) not because you OCCASSIONALLY stay at a Hilton branded property, but because you stay at them CONSTANTLY. In order to get there, you have not only spent nights in their bed's but THOUSANDS of dollars to achieve that level of brand LOYALTY. Among the perks/benefits of that level of BRAND LOYALTY (please note the theme here with that word) you have the right to request a room upgrade at check in among other benefits. For the record, not once since achieving Diamond status, have I requested my room be upgraded to a suite. Primarily because I am in the hotel for one day and on to my next property the following day, most times leaving in the middle of the night due to the line of work I am in. Today, as I arrive at the Ballast, I notice the river and the USS North Carolina museum ship moored just behind the hotel. I get to my room and discover that I am street side in an odd numbered room and would really like to get some upper view photos of the battleship. I returned to the desk and ask if I could be switched to a waterside room. Now, for the record the hotel is NINE STORIES TALL and as near as I can calculate has 26 water facing rooms on each floor. Assuming, that floors one and two and possibly three are event and meeting space that still leaves six floors or 156 water side rooms available for booking. Imagine my surprise when I am informed that ”sorry, there is no way for me to move you” You're telling me that 156 rooms are occupied by folks that are incredibly LOYAL to your brand? That the2 wedding parties that you tell me are in house could not be equally accommodated in street side rooms? So much for brand LOYALTY!

(Pork and turkey) whole wheat bread available, muffins, cereal, yogurt. Coffee and tea at all hours in the lobby. Pool, weight room, free guest laundry, computer and printers. Room was large and clean. The only negatives were broken toilet paper hanger and not enough towels had to ask for more. Also one of the maids got angry when I forgot to leave a tip and didn’t really change the beds one day but that was a disgruntled employee. Overall excellent experience. |6.12km from city centerI have had the pleasure of staying here often over the last couple of years as well as many of my work colleagues. I have stayed at many hotels all over the eastern US but none have compared to this one. The hotel itself is great, rooms are spacious and clean, everything is great.. but what really sets it apart is the people. On my most recent stay, Sam checked me in and was extremely personable and polite. Before me there was a lady complaining about some noise that other guests were making and Sam did an incredible job keeping his composure and talking with her professionally and politely. Most of all I am delighted with Michelle Dillers customer service. As I mentioned, I stay often. On my most recent stay, she went as far as to leave me a goodie bag with a personal note on it. I couldn’t be more happy with this hotel and I would recommend it to anybody!
