|5.92km from city centerWe just checked in this afternoon, and had a great experience. The Front Desk person found my reservation, and was very helpful in the check-in process. She also provided some suggestions for restaurants and local places in the area to see. This place is very close to I-275, and was easy to find after a long day of driving.

|1.61km from city centerShort review: This hotel overcharged me $2,278.20 and did not want to help me resolve this. It's been 1 week since I checked out, I still don't have the money, so I had to call my bank to try to figure it out. The Rooms are ok and breakfast serving staff, maintenance and housekeeping were friendly. Long review: I am assuming this Tru by Hilton does not want to pay fair wages, and they have to hire anyone and those employees (front desk) look like they hate the job. Therefore, customer service sucks so bad and employees are not educated or trained to do the job. I stayed 2 times. One time for 5 nights and another time a week later for 24 nights. When I checked in both times, 2 different employees looked very miserable and indifferent at their desk. I did not expect extraordinary customer service, but I expected a greeting and explanation of rules, deposits, breakfast time, etc, and that obviosly did not happen. Apparently, this 2 star hotel is charging $50 per night deposit. I am still not able to believe that. I stayed for 24 nights. I expected my credit card to be charged $4,031.93 upon checking in and parking at the end of the stay (this happened during the 1st stay and I figured it would be the same the next time). What actually happened is that my card was charged 13 times with random amounts over the course of 24 days, and those charges were difficult to keep track of. Very strange. I'd rather pay all $4k at once. A few days into my stay I asked a morning employee about that and they told me that this is a normal procedure with big amounts. OK. I am still unaware of $50/day, I mean any educated employee would make sure to inform about that taking into consideration the 24-night stay. Fast forward to 4 days before the check out, I am calculating all those posted charges (not even pending), and it comes out to a little more than $6,380 (my final receipt including parking was $4,802.40) so I am confused and nervous. I assumed it was a glitch in the system, so I called both CS and front desk, both of them told me ”I don't see any other charges than $4,031.93, and I can't see your bank charges” (like duh, of course you can't that''s why I am calling). It was a very aggressively-speaking lady that stated she was the manager on a Sunday at around noon on 9/29. I don't think she was the manager, and she could have just simply said ”Let me get your contact info and my manager will contact you later regarding this issue”. It would be great. But it did not happen and I was offered zero solution or help. Still did not mention the deposit per day. I decided to wait and see maybe all those charges will be reimbursed after checkout. A day after checkout all the charges are posted and suddenly the total of those charges comes up to $7,080.60. And my receipt after check out is $4,802.40. That's $2,278.20 difference. Even if they charged me $50/day, that would be only $1,200. And those would be pending, not posted. I don't know about you, but $2k is a lo

|0.41km from city centerI wanted to love this place, I really did. Everyone said if you are going to St. Petersburg, the two places to stay are either the Avalon or the Hollander. We went with the Avalon. Everyone raved about the Avalon. So I felt happy and comfortable with our booking. I loved the idea of the hotel. I love boutique hotels. I loved places with history. I did love the detail on top of the elevator in the lobby. I loved the platter of water bottles in the lobby. I did enjoy the pool and that the Hollander is right next door. The restaurant, the Tap Room, also lovely. Unfortunately, that did not make up for the things I did not love. The bed, it also felt like the mattress had history. The mattress, just not comfortable. The closet was HUGE, and there was no safe? Or fridge? There was certainly room for it. I did like the decor, but the room was a little too small for it. For instance, there was only one night stand because the one on one side of the bed was so big, there was no way it could fit on the other side of the bed. Which brings me to the biggest issue in the room - the lighting. There was a light on the nightstand and the light with the fan. It was fine when it was light out, and we had the sun shining in, but once the sun went down, well, my cell phone flashlight gives off more light. That room is DARK and getting ready to go out was difficult. It needed at least one, if not two more lamps. The light from the ceiling fan is basically nonexistent. Which brings me to another issue, the AC was nice and cold, but, it smelled kind of mildew-y. Probably just need a filter cleaned, but my allergies went haywire. The last issue, and this might just be that it's a super old building with probably 100 year old pipes, but the water in the shower. My husband would be sleeping, and I got up to shower, and frequently during the shower the shower would just go BURNING hot, before going back to the temperature I set it. Like at least 2-3 times. Loved St. Petersburg though, and hopefully we will be back.

|0.93km from city centerI have never been more disappointed in an establishment than I am in Mint House. My mother and several other seniors evacuated from their facility stayed there. Because Hurricane Helene devastated the area, the county extended the evacuation for at least another day. Accordingly, I spoke to the front desk and was told while the room that she was staying in may not be available another room would be made available and that I would receive a call later that morning to confirm. My mother and others amongst the evacuees are non ambulatory and although she would be giving up an ADA room I thought that the arrangement was reasonable. When I didn’t receive a call back I followed up and was told that not only would she not be able to stay in the ADA room but there were no other rooms and she would have to leave in less than a half hour. I understand the demands on the staff’s time but I was astonished by the callousness of the response. I had briefly thought about calling a local news station to cover the story (and still might) but I now had to find her another room in a city devastated by the storm, and I had 20 minutes to do so. I’ve told my story to everyone I know, so bad word of mouth will do for now. I assume that the same person who was so nice to me at 8:00am became so callous at 10:30am due to poor training, leadership and a horrendous corporate culture. Mint House has established itself and its brand as the company that tosses disabled elderly people to the curb with little care or warning. I doubt this will be read by a human or responded to with self examination. If you would like me to share my comments on TripAdvisor, I would be more than happy to.

|3.96km from city centerGood experience for a two night stay in a very convenient location. Decent room that appeared clean and had good amenities. Good check-in experience and good customer service from the manager on duty that evening. I asked for additional hangers as we had excess clothing to hang up and she brought shampoo to the room as our room did not have any. In all, it was good value for the type of hotel it is. Only negative: their ”breakfast” was coffee and juice (!).

|12.91km from city centerI've attended events here in the past, but last night was my first time staying there. The property is dated, but renovation work is in process. My room had a new bed and updated bathroom, as well as a large flat screen TV. What really stood out to me was the service, including the front desk staff helping with a local restaurant list, a housekeeper directing me to my room (weird room numbers), an engineer quickly helping with a business center printing issue, and Jesus in the restaurant making sure we had a nice breakfast. I look forward to staying again and seeing additional improvements.

|0.41km from city centerWe enjoyed everything about this historic hotel: the room, the lobby chock full of art and references to its speak-easy past, the pastry shop, the bar, the comfy, covered front porch, the pool and fountains, food and drinks served poolside, the friendly staff, and the friendly guests we met. Also, the Hollander is perfectly located in St. Pete, being in the historic downtown district near my company headquarters and close to great destinations such as the Salvador Dali museum, Chihuly blown-glass gallery, and Morean arts center. I love historic downtowns and boutique hotels such as the Hollander. The rooms in historic hotels are often smaller than ones in chain hotels, but they more than compensate with their unique personalities and intimate atmospheres, which leave me with vivid memories of my stays in these sweet lodgings and the cities they call home.

|0.49km from city centerWe visited St. Pete right after Hurricane Helene. We called to be sure that the hotel was not affected and were happy to learn that downtown St. Pete was unscathed and open for business. Check-in was pleasant and efficient. The gentlemen at the desk were very friendly and helpful. The lobby area is attractive in a modern, low key way with plenty of seating. The location is within walking distance of Starbucks, Publix, the marina and area parks, and a myriad of restaurants and clubs. It is also across the street from the concert venue, Jannus Live. There was a show while we were there, but the sound was not audible in our room, though you could hear it outside the hotel. The neighborhood seemed quite safe. Self parking is available in the garage for $22/night. You swipe your key card before you drive in. We reserved a king corner room and were pleased with the choice. There was a good sized sitting area with a sofa bed, full size desk, ample closet and drawer space, and a mini refrigerator and microwave. A decorative half screen divides the living and sleeping areas. The king bed is flanked by lamps and nightstands on both sides. There were only two USB ports which was not really enough. The bed’s mattress was unfortunately not very firm. On the other hand, the pillows were. The hotel does not have balcony rooms, but we had beautiful views of the water through the large windows. If you are someone who needs a 100% dark room to sleep, you may want to bring a sleep mask because light does slip in through the shades. The bathroom is well-appointed with toiletries. There’s a large shower, but no bath, which neither of us missed. The bathroom has a pocket door which slides open immediately if you don’t latch it correctly. Be sure the door is properly latched before doing anything private. Housekeeping was thorough and prompt. The women who cleaned our room were friendly and professional. One even left a thank you note for her tip! The pool area is on the 7th floor. It’s a long, narrow pool that was very clean. The lounges are adequate, but not plush. Breakfast is included but we had breakfast appointments every day, so we never took advantage of that. The buffet breakfast looked fairly standard. Our overall experience was very positive and the areas for improvement are minor. We are already planning to return.

|13.29km from city centerNot much to say. It's a Hilton. Very clean place. Close to the airport (20 mins by car over the causeway). You can fill up your vehicle with gas at the Shell Gas stations ( 3 mins away) Starbucks is right beside it. No need to fill up in Tampa when returning as the shell is only 10 miles away so you barely burn any gas. Overall this hotel was nice. Had a nice pool. A scary boardwalk :) Warning signs for alligators and wild animals. I never saw any and went on it. I did see a turtle. Restaurant in the place is nice but expensive. Better to go to Cracker Barrel 5 mins away or Courtside Grille which is right beside a publix for water and things you may need for pharmacy. Everything is close. Downtown St Petersburg is 20 mins by car. Easy drive in. Good location. I would stay there again.

|0.64km from city centerWe stay in a lot of hotels and some just stand out! This is one of those places. It’s the service! I had a chance to talk to some employees. I expressed how much we love staying here and they all said it’s because of their GM! He is the reason they work here and hope to retire here! I can’t tell you how impressive that is. Being a GM of a restaurant I understand how important my employees are and tell everyone they are the most important people in the restaurant. I understand that if you take care of your employees, they take care of the guests! Kudos to the GM. And kudos to the owners of this hotel! Thank you for understanding what great service is! I hope your owners know how lucky they are to have you. Just wanted you to know how your employees talk about you! You should be proud! Thank you! We will be back!

|0.27km from city centerHad to fly in to the area to help our daughter and her family after the recent hurricanes. We only needed a hotel for one night but boy did we need one! Checked in around 8:00 p.m. and from when we stopped at the valet stand to when we finally checked out, the staff was awesome. Just polite, professional and personable. The room was great also. With my Titanium status, we were offered a room upgrade which we took. The room was clean, comfortable and had a nice bathroom for much needed showers after working at our daughter’s house all day after being flooded. The hotel had just had the power turned on the day before so there were fans located throughout but this was completely understandable and expected. If I had to find a negative it would be mandatory valet parking. Believe this is due to limited parking in the area and only a negative because we forgot a couple of things in our vehicle. One of the nicest Courtyard stays I’ve had and definitely the best staff

|8.35km from city centerStayed in a 2-br suite for birthday celebration with kids. The shared living room between the two bedrooms was great - allowing both the kids & the adults plenty of their own space to enjoy! The Jetski company staff was great as were the folks at the Skybar each day we stopped thru! Awesome views from the Skybar & the private beach... included dolphins, the Skyway Bridge (all lit up at night), beautiful boats coming in to use their marina and some big cruise ships headed to & from the Port in Tampa :)

|0.42km from city centerI stayed at the hotel for two days now, and will be here for almost another week. I feel confident that I am within good hands here at the AC. Checkin was smooth and I was assisted to my room by valet employee Preston. Also thx Brian and David who are other employees. Cane and barrel was fantastic even though there was a wedding going on. I will plan to return to this hotel in the future.

|4.12km from city centerOverall this is a pleasant building. But neither the room nor the “restaurant” were what I consider Holiday Inn standards. The room was tiny with a trundle bed that wasn’t in the least bit comfortable as a sofa. The mattress was way too soft. The “air conditioner” was a noise machine that didn’t seem to change the temperature or sound no matter which temperature we set the thermostat for. The “desk” was a table slipped under a shelf. It had to be pulled out towards the bed, blocking passage, to let a laptop be opened. We did a lot of getting up to let each other by. (Rm 411). We asked for the AC to be fixed but it wasn’t. The Breakfast was limited. Oh, and you can get two pancakes, but not just one? At least coffee (just one pot, no decaf or hot water for tea) was at no extra charge. But - the building was clean, the staff, including housekeeping, was as pleasant as they could be, and the parking was free. Nice fitness room and outdoor pool.

|0.41km from city centerFront desk staff very friendly. Booked a king room and was given double beds. In order to get the room we booked, we would have been split up with others we were with ( which had king beds too) Disappointed we would be inconvenienced when that's what we originally booked and paid for. We were offered $20 valet fee waived.
Room was dated and very basic. Didn't even have a counter on sink to do hair and get ready or hold a hair brush. Some outlets didn't work.
Bartender great & friendly

|0.65km from city centerI had some reservations about my scheduled stay as other reviews seemed to run either hot or very cold. I was pleasantly surprised. Room was very clean and right sized for a couple for a weekend. Some other reviews were critical of the bathroom size - yes they are small, but what do you expect for a 1920s era hotel. Everything worked! Compared very favorably to most of the European hotels where I have stayed. Only criticism -- the sheets were a bit threadbare. Very centrally located, friendly staff and good value. Would definitely stay there again.
