Former Residence of Yan Xishan
水水漫三楼The former residence of Yan Xishan in Dingxiang County, Xinzhou, Shanxi, also known as the Yan Family Courtyard, is included in the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units. The Yan Family Courtyard is a manor owned by Yan Xishan, who was the president of the Executive Yuan of the National Government during the Republic of China. It was built in the second year of the Republic of China and covers a total area of 330,000 square meters. The Yan Family Courtyard consists of more than 20 large and small courtyards and nearly a thousand houses. The buildings in dozens of courtyards are different, with both traditional and Western forms introduced, and most of them are a combination of Chinese and Western architectural forms. The Yan Family Courtyard is not only a historical relic of Yan Xishan's ups and downs in his political career, but also an architectural entity for studying the rise and fall of the Yan family. And this architectural entity shows its unique cultural and aesthetic value with its distinctive folk color and architectural art style that combines Chinese and Western styles. There are many Yan family mottos engraved on the walls of the courtyard. The language is simple and quite reasonable. As the King of Shanxi and even the King of North China, Yan Xishan valued education in his hometown throughout his life and won the love of the people of Shanxi. It is indeed not easy. It's quite far away from the compound, so you are required to park and take a battery car, and there are people who charge money to lead the way into the parking lot close to the compound. This is too much.
