FFahimnazeriI chose this guesthouse for its proximity to the train station and great value for the money, and I'm so glad I did! Even though it's a bit far from Sapporo city, the short 2-minute walk to the train station made getting around a breeze. The unit had everything I needed, including a washing machine and cooking essentials, which really made my stay comfortable. I definitely plan to book this guesthouse again for my next winter trip!
SSeanXuanThe accommodation in Otaru was the most satisfying accommodation during my trip to Hokkaido! For the average hotel price per person, you can stay in a two-story Japanese B&B. The room has everything you need. It is very clean and tidy. The decoration style is Japanese-style. It can be seen that the owner has a good aesthetic and cares about the house. Special thanks to the proprietress and her family! A group of people arrived in Otaru on New Year's Eve. All the restaurants were closed. When we were about to go to the convenience store to deal with it, the landlady learned that we were hungry and cold all the way and we hadn't eaten yet, so she made us dumplings and hot pot. It was super delicious. The ingredients are very fresh and it’s an unforgettable New Year’s Eve memory🎆
By the way, it is very convenient to take the No. 11 bus from Otaru Station to where I live. It is a few steps to the seaside, which is very impressive. I walked two steps along the seaside to reach the Otaru Aquarium (tickets can only be purchased in cash) ). I highly recommend this place as a place to stay when visiting Otaru and Sapporo. Booking it for only one night is definitely one of the things I regret most about this trip😂
GGuest UserWe absolutely loved this ryokan experience! Stayed for 2d1n as a couple and absolutely loved the place! We booked the room with the private onsen and it was a lovely small space on the 2nd floor we could enjoy privately. The onsen is not too big, maybe 1.5 x 1.5 meters, but it was spacious for the two of us. We also found out that you can book a 45 minute slot for a separate private onsen for about ¥2200, which we may have done instead, had we known about it before booking. The japanese-style room was comfortable and had the usual amenities provided, alongside other nice additions like lotions and creams. The staff helped us to set up our futon (japanese-style bed) after dinner, and it was overall a very comfortable experience. The staff are super friendly and service was incredible.
We got the dinner and breakfast package and the food was excellent. We had to choose both the dinner slot in advance, and it is first-come-first-serve. Dinner was served to us in the room over 1.5h and was a really amazing 12-course meal with instructions on the eating order. Breakfast was more standard, but still nice, we took it in the dining hall.
The lounge is open till 10pm and we could take drinks and refreshment freely, including some small snacks and soft drinks. But they stop serving beer at 9pm. The onsens also have mini-fridges with free popsicles. There is also an outside area you can access from 3pm - 9pm that serves hot coffee and wine, with free marshmallows you can roast on the outside firepit. It was really nice.
The garden is by far the nicest part of the hotel, it is really big and well decorated, with many nice places for photos and to enjoy a hot drink from the lounge. The space is quite large and might take about 20 minutes to fully explore.
The only downside I can think of is that the location is quite hard to access. We chose to get to and from the ryokan by taxi, but there is also a shuttle bus service, from what I understand. When we arrived, the reception told us that there would be a shuttle bus leaving at 10:45 to Otaruchikko station. We still ended up requesting a taxi from the front desk though, which they were happy to help us book (I couldn't get any taxis by cab in the location).
Overall a really amazing stay that we would absolutely recommend. The price tag might seem high for a ”3 star” hotel, but the ranking is deceptive, we absolutely had a 5 star experience. Cheers!
disclaimer: information is accurate as of 31 may, will try to provide info in as much detail as possible :)
SSEI was surprised that the room was smaller than I expected, but thanks to the high ceiling, it was enough to sleep comfortably.
I was happy that the welcome free drink was Otaru wine! The breakfast was also great, so I'm glad I stayed there.
HHanhanThe hotel is in a very good location, on the hill next to the Ferris wheel, with great views, facing the cliffs and the sea. Due to its age, the hotel facilities are relatively old, but they are well maintained. The private bath in the room enjoys the sea view, which makes people linger. The service of the hotel is very old-fashioned and in place. If there is any shortcoming, it is that the quality of breakfast and dinner needs to be further improved.
KKangsterGood location next to Aeon mall, inter connected so as not to walk in the open in harsh weather. Nice, clean room with lovely Ocean view. Good breakfast spread and friendly staff. Will stay again if in Otaru.
AAnonymous UserStaff is nice.
Pillows & bed are ok.
Location is ok (if driving) and there is a convenient store around
The day we checked in is the day b4 my hubby's birthday, I requested to do some simple decorations or just a birthday message for him. Hotel rejected my request but finally they put a paper printed birthday message on table. Thank you.
They have private car park which is not free and charged 1500 yen per car per night. However, they are very straight to ask you move out car at 11 am next day even not full many free space, not allow to stay. Quite pitiless.
Hotel room looked nice but lighting is not enough for ladies to make up.
Since no double bed room available, we requested hotel to put 2 beds together and hotel confirmed but finally did not arranged.
We saw Youtuber advised breakfast is good but actually just soso, not a must to try.
GGuest UserAdvantages: The natural environment is good, the surrounding green waters and green mountains, the air is fresh, and the stars can be seen at night.
Disadvantages: far from the city, there is a large hotel around the hotel that can provide catering services. There is no hair dryer in the room, no pot for boiling water (the hair dryer is shared at the front desk, and there is a water dispenser for boiling water in the corridor). There is no table in the room, it is not convenient to put things. The room type provided is different from the description of Trip.com (no sofa).
YYutyI stayed here on a trip with my girlfriend whom I hadn't seen in a long time.
We came by car from Sapporo, and it was close to Otaru city, so there was a parking lot and it was easy to access.
My first impression was that it was luxurious for the price, and for a moment I thought I had come to the wrong hotel.
The room we stayed in was on the top floor, the 8th floor, and it was clean and had a great view.
For dinner, we had the 2,800 yen sashimi set meal.
Everything was fresh and delicious.
I was impressed by the garnish (like collagen) that I had never seen before.
There were two types of hot springs, and the open-air bath was especially good, but
There was only enough space for two people to sit, both inside and outside, so it was disappointing that there was no place to relax after the sauna.
In the end, there were so many people that I couldn't sit down after the cold bath, so I just sat in the area to wash my body.
I wish they had more chairs.
My trip with my girlfriend became a good memory.
Thank you.
CclumsyEAWe were given another place called second house green with private bath and kitchen due to overbooking. However, the first floor was a bit and the shower wasn’t that good. Water was not hot enough even adjusted to 60 degrees and was rather weak.
It’s hard to find the house green as well and was only informed the access code after a while. But check out time was good. Beware of the snow as our car was buried in snow the next day.
