HL Rondo Hotel

I stayed here in October 2024 and it was an ok stay, unfortunately some issues that occurred has resulted in my review being low. POSITIVES: Firstly I wanted to point out that the hotel is stunning with the refurb, the rooms are large, well lit and have ample storage, plus I love the huge mirrors which are great for getting ready. Check in was impeccable, we arrived late due to the flight time, and reception was a breeze, very friendly and chatty and offered a welcome drink, and bags and suitcases brought to the room. The pool area is great and the sunbeds incredibly comfortable, the only thing lacking would be some background music for ambiance and you are forbidden to play your own music which is a downside as you are treated like a child by the lifeguard. Breakfast was lovely, lots of variety and large open space. This soon changed part way through the holiday after a complaint was made (see more info below). NEGATIVES: - Lifeguard at the pool (older Spanish gentleman) who was incredibly rude throughout our stay, only this one person who always wore a bright highlighter yellow t-shirt. The other lifeguard was friendly and approachable, whereas this lifeguard treated everyone like children and shouted at everyone who had their own towel that we could not use these, we could only use hotel towels, whereas the other lifeguard did not have a problem with anyone using their own towels as well as the hotel towel. He was very aggressive and really made being around the pool uncomfortable. - Safety: One of our friends had a nasty fall at the pool side as she had lost her balance coming down the steps towards the pool. There were no wet floor signs, nor has the floor got any grip. The above mentioned lifeguard again was very rude about this and was not helpful at all. He told her to go to the hospital to get checked out, there is no accident book to document this, and the hotel were clueless at resolving this as of now, it is still ongoing and has been reported to the police to investigate. - Due to the complaint about the accident above, we feel that the hotel were penalising us for this. Examples of this include down at breakfast on the days following the accident, the staff purposely ignored our table for cleaning away plates, no tea or coffee were offered, no cutlery on the table etc. One of our party went to make her own coffee and was told off by a member of staff that it was for ”staff only” however this was after 20 minutes of us being there and seeing the staff offer other tables coffee and clearing away the tables but ignoring our table. This happened each day after the accident occurred of which we had 6 days, a couple of these days we decided against having breakfast at the hotel due to the poor service and went elsewhere. - Room cleaning: As with every hotel I have ever stayed at, rooms would be cleaned daily, there were many occasions that we would hang the ”please clean my room” card on the door when going down to bre

Just returned again from Sandy Beach brilliant hotel, best Ive ever stayed in. All the staff are excellent and very helpful. Rooms are brilliant and beds so comfortable. Food is excellent. You couldn't ask for better food so much food. Im a fussy eater and there was so much choice. The young man at the restaurant saw I was on a walking stick and made sure I got a table near the buffet and made sure I was looked after. He was so nice and charming - please give him my sincere thanks. The only complaint I can make and its not about the hotel as its perfect - a lot of guests were at the buffet pushed and shoved even though they could see I was on a walking stick as they couldnt wait to get to the food and didnt care who they pushed out of the way think they were German. Many guests didnt dress according to the dress code for the eventing meal wearing shorts. I know this isnt the staffs fault its the guests they just didnt care. You cant fault the any of the staff at the hotel Dominic on reception was extremely helpful showing me the garden terrace room which I will try and book on my next trip. I apologise to the cleaner she was so nice and I forgot to leave her a tip which I felt guilty about but I was rushing to get out for a early pickup. Cant wait to go back its a brilliant hotel. If any one reads this please feel assured that you will get the best treatment at Sandy Beach its close to all amenities and everyone is brilliant. They even took my suitcase to the room on arrival. Thank you so much for another brilliant holiday.

This place really hit the spot for us. The room was decent and the food was good and all the staff we encountered were super friendly. Sure some of the decor looks a bit tired but for all the the important stuff that you'd want for a good, family holiday they really get it right. We really enjoyed our weeks stay and would happily recommend the place to friends and family.
Servatur Playa Bonita

We have just returned from a weeks holiday and it did not disappoint. The complex is cleaner than anywhere we have stayed before. The staff around the hotel were outstanding, so efficient and kind they really made the stay enjoyable. To be honest all of the Gran Canaria we visited, the staff everywhere were super polite, friendly and genuinely wanted to make sure you had a good stay. We were B&B, the food was quickly replenished during the morning and there was plenty of variety, fruit etc including catering for lactose intolerance/gluten free etc. The room was large, the beds comfortable, shower powerful and hot. The pool was clean and there were plenty of sunbeds and places to rest. The beach is really close and if you fancy it the walk to Maspalomas was 10 mins and the beach there fun to lie on with a lively atmosphere. If I had any grumble it would be that it was hard to find restaurants that served healthy alternatives in Playas De Ingles, especially if you don't eat a lot of burgers etc normally! That said we had amazing steak at TORO and Belle Italia and West End were nice places to eat. At the more upmarket, Morgan shopping centre in Puerto Rico we ate a fabulous lunch at the African style restaurant, can't remember the name. We bused around which was easy to work out how to do and they were on time with good a/c, Puerto de Morgan was lovely and very scenic. All in all, the weather was hot and the week flew. We really enjoyed being based at Servatur Playa Bonita.

I'll start by saying the hotel is lovely. Very clean. Good layout. Very good rooms with comfortable beds and good bathroom facilities. As 2 vegetarian/pescatarians, we ate very well all the time. Anyone writing bad reviews about the food should check in advance that their specific needs are catered for. I'm a fussy eater who is not very adventurous and I had no problem at all. There is food available all the time at the snack bar, so if you miss any of the allocated meal times, you don't have to go hungry. Drinks are all good. Like any all inclusive, you notice the difference in strength when you go outside of the resort and pay for drinks. It is worth noting that all cocktails are none alcoholic but the staff will gladly add your choice of alcohol when you ask. We never waited long to be served with drinks, even at busy times. I have to be honest and say that the nightly entertainment was poor, and actually annoying after a while. A group of youngsters dancing and miming to soundtracks from films and musicals. No karaoke, no disco, both of which might have made a difference and given some variety. Our biggest issue was not the fault of the hotel or staff but the other guests. Mostly very rude people with no consideration for anyone else. We didn't go to make new friends but to be civil and well mannered costs nothing and makes everything nicer. This is not aimed at any particular nationality as this was the case with people from a variety of backgrounds, including British. People would push in front of you in the dining room, as though the food was going to run out, when there was always plenty. People would stand, chatting in doorways and openings and not move to let you get through. There were times in the afternoon when I sat in the snack bar to read quietly and people would just come and sit at the same table and begin talking loudly among themselves. It appears that rudeness in society has a knock on effect and so even nicer people become the same way retaliation and it creates and generally hostile environment. Where I completely respect the laws on smoking and vaping, I did find it ridiculous that I couldn't just enjoy the odd vape in quiet, open air spaces. Not all, but some of the staff, would politely point me toward the smoking area having seen me take ”one” puff from my vape in places that were nowhere near anyone else. Others would just overlook it when they realised it was a vape, not an actual cigarette, especially as I only puff on mine moderately and don't create huge plumes of vapour. Overall though, I found it most ludicrous that the ”smoking area,” was located right next to the children's play area. I do recommend this hotel for good value, a clean, safe environment and good facilities, just be prepared to share the place with a lot of greedy, ill mannered guests.

Stayed 6 nights in December 2024. Slow check in at 8pm! When we finally got our room we had 30 minutes to make dinner as the restaurant closed at 9:30pm. On first impression the room was nice, modern looking. The bathroom could do with a revamp! The shower is coming off the wall and I had to play plumber when the flush broke. The bed was really hard and had to improvise a mattress topper with the pillows. But that is all about personal preference of course. The hotel was quiet but yet we were given a room that never gets any sunlight so it was really dark all the time. The buffet was ok. Very repetitive but nice in general. It was too cold for us to use the pool and sun-beds but both pools looked nice. We had a nice break but I wouldn’t say. 4 star one. Nice enough hotel but I will not rush back.
