One of the most famous tourist routes in Norway, Trollstigen "Elf Road"
#100 Ways to Travel
#naturalscape
We stayed in the camping area of Andalsnes on July 2, 2024. We originally wanted to go directly from the camping area Andalsnes Camping & Motell ➝ (take the E136 bend 63 highway) ➝ Elf Road (about 5km) ➝ Trollstigen Utsiktpunkt viewing platform, but it is a pity. Vehicles will be prohibited from entering due to road collapse in 2024, and there is no word on when the control will last, so if you want to go to the Elf Road, you can only take a long detour! So it takes about 145km (2hr18mins), but free travel means being spontaneous, and there are long days of sunshine, so we decided to take a detour. Going to the viewing platform is really worth it! It’s so beautiful to see the spectacular switchback road with your own eyes
In the past, it was a concept of going from A (Andalsnes) to B (Trollstigen Utsiktpunkt). Now I really have to go there specially to go to Trollstigen Utsiktpunkt. Because the road is impassable, I can only take Highway 63 at the other end to enter the Trollstigen Utsiktpunkt viewing platform, and then come out the same way. Go on another trip. It takes a little more time. Perhaps because of this, there are not as many tourists as expected.
The parking lot of the Trollstigen Utsiktpunkt observation deck is right next to the Trollstigen Visitor Centre, and there is also Trollstigen Souvenirbutik, a souvenir shop. Walk along the wooden boardwalk next to the visitor center. The surrounding area is surrounded by wooden boardwalks erected along the glacial river. It is gentle and nice. Along the way, there is water flowing down from the glacier river, which is super clear and super cold. There is also a paddling pool where you can step into the water directly. The super comfortable building is integrated with the entire environment, super simple and beautiful. It is considered a barrier-free trail, and there is a landscape platform at the end of the boardwalk.
If you want to get to the Trollstigen Utsiktpunkt observation deck, you must continue walking up the stairs next to it. This section of stairs has been specially built and is quite easy to walk. Along the way you can see the most beautiful zigzag mountain road, which is super beautiful and spectacular. At the end of the trail is Trollstigen Utsiktpunkt.
The whole journey is very suitable for parents and children. We saw many Europeans carrying a baby on their backs, and then bringing a small child beside them. The children were allowed to walk along the trail, climb up and down, and even play in the water area. Play with water. Look how elegant and comfortable Europeans are when raising their children!

The Path of Elves has shared several articles before, and I will integrate them again.
Andalsnes ➝ (Take E136 curve 63) ➝ Elf Road (about 5km) ➝ Trollstigen Utsiktpunkt Observation Deck => This route is not accessible
Change to Sylte ➝ (Take Highway 63) ➝ Trollstigen Utsiktpunkt Observation Deck (need to enter and exit the same way)
Trollstigen Visitor Center Follow the wooden boardwalk next to the visitor center. The first half of the trail is barrier-free. At the end of the boardwalk, you will reach a landscape platform.
There are stairs on the last section to the Trollstigen Utsiktpunkt viewing platform.

The Royal Residence 🇳🇴
#citydaytours
I had the pleasure of visiting Gamlehaugen during my summer vacation in Bergen, Norway, and it was a delightful experience. Gamlehaugen, a beautiful historic mansion, serves as the official residence of the Norwegian royal family when they visit Bergen. The entrance fee was around 100 NOK, which was well worth it for the opportunity to explore the stunning grounds and learn about its royal history.
The mansion itself is an architectural gem, and the surrounding parkland is perfect for a leisurely stroll. The gardens are meticulously maintained and offer lovely views of the fjord. The guided tour was insightful, providing fascinating details about the royal family and the history of the estate.
Nearby, you can visit the charming area of Bergen with its colorful Bryggen Wharf, a UNESCO World Heritage site, or take a ride on the Fløibanen funicular for panoramic views of the city and surrounding mountains. Both are great complements to a visit to Gamlehaugen.
Overall, Gamlehaugen is a must-see if you're in Bergen, offering a perfect blend of history, architecture, and natural beauty.

Norway, the lake is always calm, hiding the memories you don't want to lose
If you ask me which Nordic country is the most worth visiting, it must be Norway, known as the 'Lonely Planet'. In Norway, 'people who meet will meet again'
Going to Norway was originally planned for hiking and fjords, but unexpectedly, I was shocked by the fairy-tale-like dreamy beauty along the way and successfully took the cable car
At the top of the mountain, I saw the pink sky and chased whales to the Arctic Circle, and waited for the aurora by the lake
The snow scenery ceiling is definitely worth a look, the aftereffect is really strong
Here are a few spots I think are very worth visiting:
Stavanger: Although it is an old town and quite small, I personally really like the colorful streets here
Fargegaten, the colorful little houses are really like a fairy tale world, and there are many museums
Bergen: Strongly recommend taking the Snow Country Train, whether it's a miniature of Norway or the direct Oslo-Bergen train, the scenery on both sides is beautiful, we were lucky that day to see 'Altocumulus lenticularis' and the sunset glow was absolutely stunning
Flåm Mountain Railway: Along the way, you will see waterfalls flying down from the sky, mountain streams, ribbon-like clouds, deep canyons and Norwegian forests, the huge drop brings breathtaking scenery, condensing the beauty of Norway's fjords, each frame is like a postcard
Sognefjord: Norway's longest and deepest fjord, taking a cruise through it, the towering mountains on both sides and the emerald green water surface complement each other, it's incredibly beautiful, there are also three other fjords that I think are also worth visiting
Trollstigen: The winding road twists and turns up along the cliff, with 11 sharp turns, known as one of the 12 most dangerous roads in the world, be sure to pay attention to safety if you go!!!
This is my 7-day itinerary, I feel like I haven't seen enough and I will come back next time
Day1 Oslo departure - Heddal Stave Church - Hardangervidda National Park - Stavanger
Day2 Stavanger - Lysefjord - Preikestolen
Day3 Bergen - Mount Fløyen - Bryggen Old Town - Fish Market
Day4 Voss - Flåm - Sogndal
Day5 Briksdal Glacier - Geirangerfjord
Day6 Atlantic Road - Trollstigen - Atlantic Ocean Road - Finnøy
Day7 Ålesund - Oslo

Trip to Norway 🇳🇴
It was a vacation with family to Norway. Just to share some of the places and restaurants that I’ve visited and enjoyed the most. Norway was truly a beautiful country. We were in a group of 4 and we visited many places.
One of our most favorite place to visit was Mount Floyen. We took the Fløibanen funicular up all the way to the top and walk to central Bergen. It is definitely worth to go up to the top as you can see very amazing view 💯 If you were given a chance, do remember to pick the front seat so that you can capture best pictures without having people blocking in the front 🤣 They opened from 8am to 11pm everyday. Instead of buying the ticket online, we bought the ticket on spot via the kiosk machine. One way journey took about 15 minutes and it was around 85Krone, return costs about 160Krone. It is definitely worth to visit 🥰
Mount Floyen
📍5014 Bergen, Norway
Our second favorite spot to visit in Norway was Kode Museum. This museum really amazed us! It is one of the biggest museum in Nordic region. The museum was made up of 4 different buildings and there were a lot of things to see, from art and crafts to music etc. We spent half days walking around the museum and we have learned and understand many history behind all the objects and Norway. They opened on Tuesday to Sunday from 11am to 4pm. Our tickets were 480Krones (for 4pax). We really enjoy visiting Kode Museum 🥰
Kode Musuem
📍 Nordahl Bruns gate 9, 5014 Bergen, Norway
Just to share my favorite restaurant in Norway before I wrap up this post. I really enjoyed eating the Norwegian local cuisine. my favorite shop in Bergen was Pingvinen. The restaurant itself is small and menu were very limited. But all the items that we tried were very delicious. P/s: the portion is very big as well. Every dish came with their unique sauce. We visited the restaurant two times in a row 🤣The price was considered affordable. We ordered all the seafood items available from the menu and all were delicious, especially their fish 💯Please check it out if you’re around Bergen area. (Their service was very good too 🥰)

Norway Europe
Tourist attraction: Bergen, Europe
Attraction introduction: Norway is full of fairy-tale-like miniatures. I personally feel that small towns are more charming than bustling big cities. If you have a day in Bergen, you must leave it to Mount Fløyen! Although everyone will take the cable car to watch the sunset, strolling slowly on the mountain makes people feel worthwhile, with a dreamy forest and a lake like an oil painting Daily

Bergen 🇳🇴 Norway
Bergen is one of the popular place that people often visit when they going to Norway. The view is spectacular in here and you can see the mountain covered with snow. It is just like a dream when you standing there and look at those mountain.
Moreover, the Ulriken mountain is a famous spot to see the whole view of Norway and you can choose either walking or taking the cable car. I recommend taking cable car as the floor is slippery during the winter! #境外遊 #Norway

From the mountains to the Sea
Bergen is a small.and walkable city.
We experienced Rain, cloudy and sunny in our 5 days trip there. The people there
mostly quite friendly n chill..Will definitely go back again . We took the Fjord cruise twice, one in a rainy morning and the other one was 6-9pm to catch the midnight. The view are magnificent, you need to be there yourself to see n feel it. Cable all the way up to see the whole view of Bergen from the top of the mountain.

Beautiful Bergen!
Getting There - we flew to Oslo for a few days then took the Vy train to Bergen. this was a heck of a journey, but worth every minute of the 9 hours it took! the scenery is out of this world and a proper bucket list moment.
Attractions - not a huge amount to do in Bergen, but I'd recommend the Fløyen funicular. the top of the mountain has amazing views over the fjords and city, as well as a fun park for kids, a place to eat plus lovely woodland walks (beware the trolls!)
Hotels - Scandic Torget is a good value, clean hotel with a great location and delicious breakfast. be aware that the front facing rooms can get really noisy late at night.
Food & Restaurants - this was a tricky one! it was Easter weekend so hardly anything was open. that said, we did eat at the fish market, which is expensive but excellent. you also have to try the reindeer sausage from the hot dog stall in the old town.
Shopping - again, nothing was open due to the water holiday, but there are lots of very nice shopping areas and malls. #foodie

The Bergen line 🇳🇴🚃
From Oslo central station to Bergen along the Bergen line has to be one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world , with four daily departures from Oslo central station and a journey time of six and a half hours the train takes you through one of Europes highest mountain plateaus as well as Forrest’s , fjords and glaciers .
I recommend buying tickets in advance on the Vy train app as you can get a bargain price train ticket mine cost £67 for a plus seat with complimentary tea and coffee and a comfy seat with more leg room.
Another tip when travelling from Oslo a seat on the right of the train is better for taking pictures as the most epic scenery can be found on that side 👌

1,300 steps to the highest view in Bergen
If you want amazing views over Bergen and the surrounding areas mount ulriken is a 1,300 step hike to the top but totally worth it , the scenery and views are stunning .
And if you don’t fancy using your legs, a cable car can be caught from either the top or bottom , I walked down and got the cable car up 😁

Hotels - various
Food & Restaurants - various (had the best Thai food and yummy fish and chip during the trip)

Whilst in Europe for holiday, we specially flew to visit Bergen for a few days. Bergen has a lot of popular sites like Bryggen Wharf (first photo) and the Floyen Mountain and a lot of fresh seafood restaurant and fish market.

Bryggen comercial Buildings
Bryggen, also known as Tyskebryggen, is a series of Hanseatic heritage commercial buildings lining up the eastern side of the Vågen harbour in the city of Bergen, Norway. Bryggen has been on the UNESCO list for World Cultural Heritage sites since 1979. The city of Bergen was founded around 1070 within the boundaries of Tyskebryggen. Around 1350 a Kontor of the Hanseatic League was established there, and Tyskebryggen became the centre of the Hanseatic commercial activities in Norway. Today, Bryggen houses museums, shops, restaurants and pubs. Bergen was established before 1070 AD. In the Middle Ages, the Bryggen area encompassed all buildings between the sea and the Stretet (Øvregaten) road, from Holmen in the north to Vågsbunnen in the south. According to the Sagas, the city was founded within this area. #familytravel

Bergen, Norway
Surrounded by seven hills and seven fjords, Bergen is a beguiling city. During the early Middle Ages, it was an important seaport and a member of the Hanseatic League, as well as Norway's capital – a heritage that can still be glimpsed in the beautifully preserved wooden buildings of Bryggen, now protected as a Unesco World Heritage site. Chocolate-box, clapperboard houses creep up the hillsides, ferries flit around the fjords, and a cluster of excellent art museums provide a welcome detour, and not only in case Bergen's notoriously fickle weather sets in. Meanwhile, a large student population ensures the city has a buzzy bar scene and nightlife, and easy access to nature means you're minutes away from complete tranquillity.
