Secret of Northern Bali: Watching Sunrise and Chasing Dolphins at Lovina Beach

►Travel Time ▪ It takes two and a half hours to drive from Ubud to Lovina, which is as far as from Nanjing to Shanghai! If you are staying in the southern part of Bali, it will take more than 4 hours to travel from south to north! ▪ Therefore, if your itinerary includes watching the sunrise and dolphins, you need to plan in advance where to stay! No matter which plan you choose, you will need to spend the same amount of time driving from the direction of the airport to the northernmost part of Lovina. It's just a matter of when you spend this time. ►Full Dolphin Chasing Experience ▪ When the driver dropped us off at Lovina Beach, it was around 17:50. Walking on the black sand beach, what appeared before us was a pale pink sky and a dark blue sea. As the sun gradually emerged from the horizon, the mysterious veil of the Lovina sea area was about to be unveiled. ▪ According to the boatman, there are hundreds of wild dolphins in this sea area. Before sunrise, they come out collectively to hunt, forming a spectacular 'dolphin army' on the sea surface! ▪ Sitting at the bow of the boat, I was both excited and anxious. Dozens of spider boats had already sailed far into the deep sea from sunrise, but we hadn't seen any dolphins yet. Just then, the boatman suddenly accelerated towards the 10 o'clock direction. Before the other spider boats could catch up, a group of gray little elves had already popped their slippery little heads out from the left side of our boat, only to dive back into the sea within seconds... This was our first encounter with the dolphins! The marine elves seemed quite interested in our visit, coming out one by one to show themselves. ▪ We were very lucky to have our boatman. For half of the two hours, he pinpointed the spots where the dolphins jumped and led the boat there! Sitting by the side of the boat, we could take close-up shots of these little cuties. It was truly a visual feast worth every penny! ▪ On the way back, we slowly enjoyed the most tranquil blue sea in northern Bali! The blue here is different from other sea areas in Bali, so calm that there is not a single ripple, like a giant sapphire embedded in the earth. After the spider boat docked, our two families each gave the boatman a tip, and he was very happy! The simplicity of the Balinese people made us sincerely grateful to them once again.
