Buddhist Heritage Museum, the ancient temple Fayuan Temple

"Fayuan Temple" is located at No. 7 Fayuan Temple Front Street, Beijing. It is a historic ancient temple. Fayuan Temple was first built in the 19th year of the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty (645 AD). Initially, it was built by Emperor Taizong of Tang to commemorate the fallen soldiers and was named Minzhong Temple. In the 11th year of the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty (1735 AD), it was renamed Fayuan Temple. The temple's architecture is grand in scale, facing south from the north. From south to north, it consists of the Mountain Gate, Bell and Drum Towers, Hall of Heavenly Kings, Mahavira Hall, Guanyin Hall, Vairocana Hall, Great Compassion Altar, and Sutra Library. In 1924, Lin Huiyin, Xu Zhimo, and others accompanied the Indian poet Tagore to admire the lilacs at Fayuan Temple, creating a memorable moment in literary history.
