Hulun Lake

Hulun Lake, also known as Hulun Pool, Dalai Lake, and Dalai Nur, means "sea-like lake" in Mongolian. It has been called Daze, Julunbo, Kuo Lian Haizi, Hutuze, Xuanmo Pool, Kuleng Lake, and more throughout history. Hulun Lake is a lake in the Ergun River Basin, located between New Barag Right Banner, New Barag Left Banner, and Zhalainuoer District in the western part of Hulunbuir Grassland in Inner Mongolia. It covers a total area of 2,315 square kilometers, making it the largest lake in Inner Mongolia. The Hulun Lake area is the birthplace of many nomadic peoples in the north, including the Donghu, Xiongnu, Xianbei, Shiwei, Huihe, Turkic, Khitan, Jurchen, and Mongolian peoples. Located in the heart of the Hulunbuir Grassland, Hulun Lake is known as the "pearl of the grassland" and the "kidney of the grassland."
