Nanjing Weekend Family Trip: 3 Days and 2 Nights Itinerary from Hangzhou. A weekend trip to Nanjing is all about going with the flow, and taking your kids doesn't have to be a military operation. Day 1 Itinerary: Hangzhou 🚄 Nanjing South Hotel ➡️ Presidential Palace & 1912 Street ➡️ Nanjing Museum ➡️ Confucius Temple and Qinhuai River Night Tour It takes just over an hour to get to Nanjing South. After dropping off our luggage, we headed straight to the Presidential Palace and Nanjing Museum. The museum is amazing, and we couldn't leave the Republic of China Hall on the basement floor, which recreates scenes from the Republic of China era in 1:1 scale. We stayed until closing time at 5 pm. We booked a hotel near Confucius Temple, so we planned a night tour of the Qinhuai River for the first night. Unfortunately, the two dragon lanterns at Qinhuai Renjia were under maintenance. Day 2 Itinerary: Jiming Temple ➡️ Ming City Wall ➡️ Xuanwu Lake ➡️ Xinjiekou ➡️ Deji Art Museum Although it was early winter, the weather was great. The blue sky and white clouds, combined with Jiming Temple, Xuanwu Lake, Zijin Terrace, and the Ming City Wall, perfectly showcased the ancient capital's aura. Day 3 Itinerary: Zhangfu Street ➡️ Zhongshan Wharf ⛴️ Pukou Wharf Street ⛴️ Zhongshan Wharf ➡️ Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge ➡️ Xinjiekou ➡️ Return The third day's itinerary was relatively niche. We took our kids to see the Yangtze River and took a round-trip ferry ride. Pukou Wharf, where Zhu Ziqing's "Back" was set, and the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge are both featured in textbooks, so we gave our kids a preview. Li Ji's breakfast was a pleasant surprise; the beef potstickers and beef wontons were delicious and worth the wait.
