Qingdao Museum is a local comprehensive history and art museum. As soon as you enter the main hall, there are two stone Buddha statues from the Northern Wei Dynasty, which are more than 1,500 years old. The Buddha statues are 18 feet tall and weigh about 30 tons, commonly known as the "Eighteen-foot Buddha". The head is sculpted with a high bun, the face is thin and delicate, with deep eyes and a high nose, and a white hair mark between the eyebrows, exuding a serene and transcendent demeanor. The long neck is dressed in a monk's robe, with a belt tied at the chest, and an outer robe draped in a long garment style with "V"-shaped carved folds. The hands are in the gestures of fearlessness and wish-granting. The bare feet stand on a lotus pedestal, with a square Sumeru pedestal carved below. The stone Buddha statues are beautifully shaped, skillfully carved, with detailed and soft folds, and lifelike expressions. They fully demonstrate the implementation of Emperor Xiaowen of Northern Wei's Sinicization policy, reflecting the stylistic characteristics of Buddhist sculpture art. "Qingdao Historical Stories" is divided into four exhibition halls. The basic display of Qingdao Museum is exhibited. There is a section specifically introducing the May Fourth Movement. "Colorful Porcelain Collection—Exhibition of Ming and Qing Porcelain in the Museum" Porcelain collection is one of the special collections of Qingdao Museum. This exhibition is divided into three units: "Elegant and Graceful Blue and White Porcelain", "Colorful Painted Porcelain", and "Pure and Eternal Colored Glaze Porcelain", comprehensively showcasing the development and evolution of Chinese porcelain industry and artistic level during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. "Ancient Coins and Modern Stories—Exhibition of Ancient Coins in the Museum" This exhibition is divided into nine units: "Origin of Shells from the Sea", "Casting Coins from Tools", "Unified Square Hole Round Coins", "Pearls of the Six Dynasties in Troubled Times", "Scholarly Charm in Square Inches", "Microcosm of National Integration", "Spring and Autumn of the End of Dynasties", "Lucky Words on Flower Coins", and "Carving Molds and Casting Techniques".
