Yichang Road Fire Station

Yichang Road Fire Station: Located at No. 216 Yichang Road, Putuo District, Shanghai. The building was funded by Japanese merchants and built by the Shanghai Municipal Council in 1932. It was directly under the Fire Department of the Municipal Council and was one of its six fire stations. The building was originally four stories high, and later partially added to six stories, covering an area of 1,800 square meters, with a total construction area of 3,130 square meters. It is a reinforced concrete and brick-concrete structure, with a facade emphasizing vertical line composition, and the walls between the windows of the base are connected up and down, with brown facing bricks on the windows. The tower is more than 30 meters high, decorated with vertical lines, with narrow windows, and converging upwards. The top is equipped with an octagonal open pavilion, in a modernist style. The fire station building became the third batch of Shanghai Excellent Historical Buildings in 1999.
