Kawazu-Nanadaru Loop Bridge, in Japan, is an example of how to build a bridge from one mountainside to another when the sides of the mountain are so steep that it is not possible to build a road at the same elevation on both sides. It's one of the most spectacular bridges in the world.  This double spiral brings cars up or down a full 147 feet while being seemingly suspended in a valley between two mountainsides. It is an amazing bit of architecture. Coming upon this bridge in the middle of this mountain road is quite an experience. The bridge spiraling around like a serpent, was finished in 1982 and has become a popular landmark on Highway 414 heading south from Tokyo towards the hot spring resorts of the Izu peninsula. Mt. Omuro is a magical mountain. It is an inactive volcano that changes colors throughout the season. During Summer, it is color green. During the cold seasons, it dries up and becomes brown. Visitors can ride a lift to go to the crater of Mt. Omuro, where they will be allowed to walk around it to gain a 360 degree view of the whole place. The Katsura and the Kaede Bridge are two of the known bridges in Shuzenji Onsen, not only because of their historical architecture but also because of the beauty of the trees that surround them. Shuzenji Onsen has it all! It even has a mini Bamboo Forest in the heart of it! Although it is just a mini Bamboo Park, it is still very beautiful, tranquil, and majestic. One can just easily spend an hour or two there. sitting in the Bamboo-made round bench while marveling at the Moso Bamboos at the Bamboo path. A manga-like landscape just 3 hours from Tokyo! I took a birthday vacation in September and decided to spend two days in Izu to see the mountains and the sea. 🍵 From the Omuroyama, the filming location of "Your Name," to the shimmering blue-green rocky coast, to the various open-air hot springs with sea views, Izu is the perfect place to relax and unwind! 📍Two-day itinerary & guide Day 1️⃣ Morning: Tokyo - Izu-Atagawa Station Afternoon: Jogasaki Coast Transportation: Navigate to "Izu Oceanic Park." Take the train from Atagawa for 3 stops to "Jogasaki Coast Station," a small unmanned station. Swipe your Suica card to exit the station. There are signs for "Kadowaki Suspension Bridge" and "Izu Oceanic Park" at the entrance. Just follow the signs, no need to navigate. 🏠 You will pass through a Japanese-style villa area with many beautiful small houses. 📸 The best spot to take a panoramic photo of the Kadowaki Suspension Bridge is the observation deck to the north. Day 2️⃣ Morning: Hotel - Komuroyama Afternoon: Return to Tokyo ⚠️ I originally planned to visit Omuroyama! But when I went, the cable car was closed due to lightning the day before! So be sure to check the operating status before you go to avoid disappointment! If it's closed, head to Komuroyama instead! ⛰️ Komuroyama is also beautiful! You can see Mount Fuji on one side, Matcha Omuroyama on the other, and the sea on the other... It feels like a manga scene with a grassland on the horizon. After seeing it, I realized that Japanese manga is real. 😭 🚠 The cable car to the top is a single-person ride with no safety measures. You just hold on and go. It's so much fun! 🕐 The mountain is small, and you can explore it in 20 minutes. 🎫 The cable car costs 500 JPY one way and 800 JPY round trip. It closes at 4:00 pm! ❗️ Be sure to go down the mountain before 4:00 pm. The last cable car is at 4:20 pm. 🏨 I stayed at a hotel near Atagawa Station. I loved the open-air hot spring with a sea view. Hakoyu is a historical onsen along the river valley. Inside consists on one bath in a large wooden tub. Very relaxing, though no outside area. Cost is 350. You pay at the machine and hand the ticket to the attendant. This onsen has no shampoo so bring your own or its only 50 for a small travel sized packet. Towel rental is 100yen. The shoe locker is pretty large and fit my day pack. Inside the lockers are a similar size. Fantastic way to enjoy the area. #staycation#tripinspired#happynewyear

The only place where you can find Crab Ramen is in Yasubei (安兵衛) in Shuzenji Onsen. You just have to walk for around 10 minutes to Miyuki Bridge, cross it and you'll find a traditional Japanese restaurant open for visitors and customers alike. The Crab Ramen is only priced at ¥600. Manju-sho Honzangenraku Shuzenji Main Store is a local delicacy store in the heart of Shuzeji Onsen. It is a must-go delicacy store when you're in Shunzenji Onsen because it sells specially-packaged Manju at a very faur price. This store is also located right across Yokko no Yu and is a walk away from Shunzeji Onsen bus stop. The Shuzenji Temple was founded during the 9th century. It was said that this temple bore witness to countless tragedies, deceits, and legends of history in Shuzenji, specifically of the Minamoto family. It is such a privilege to personally see a temple as old and as historical as this. I just sat there for 30 minutes, enjoying the view, marveling at the old bell, the main temple building, and the old trees around. Shuzenji is a place for Heritage Walks. My favorite place in Shuzenji is Shuzenji Onsen. It is a hill complex located in the heart of Shuzenji, where people will feel like they have traveled back to the 1800s. You can enjoy a Bamboo Park, a century old temple, hot springs, and Ryokans there. Definitely worth a visit. I walked around there wearing a rented Kimono! #holidayvacation
