Absolutely stunning ancient temple
Prambanan Temple is honestly amazing. The big, tall temples are so impressive, and the carvings on them are beautiful. You can really feel the history when you're there. It’s definitely worth seeing in person.
Fun fact: the carvings tell stories from the Ramayana, which is an ancient Indian epic about love, war, and adventure. So pay closer attention to them if you're anyhow into history or literature.
Tip: go early to beat the crowds and heat.
One more tip: wear comfy shoes, because you’ll be walking a bit.

Why Prambanan's 'Tourist Price' is Worth Every Penny: A Journey Through Time and Ruins
#indonesiatrip #yogjakarta #unesco
Many tourists tend to skip Prambanan Temple due to the relatively high entrance fee, especially for foreigners. However, I didn’t mind paying the “tourist price” to visit this UNESCO World Heritage site, considering its rich history and the fact that the funds contribute to the restoration of structures damaged by the 2006 earthquake.
Prambanan, a stunning 9th-century Hindu temple complex, was built by the Sanjaya dynasty and stands as one of Southeast Asia's most impressive cultural landmarks. As you wander through the complex, especially at Candi Sewu, the sight of ancient ruins amidst the restored temples is awe-inspiring. It’s worth every penny and moment spent here. Don't miss Candi Sewu—it's a hidden gem that adds depth to the entire Prambanan experience.

Prambanan Temple
#naturalwonders #100WaysOfTravel
Prambanan is the largest and most magnificent Hindu temple ever built in ancient Java. Prambanan has the original name Siwagrha and is designed to resemble Shiva's house, which follows the shape of the sacred mountain Mahameru, where the gods reside. All parts of the temple complex follow the model of the universe according to the concept of Hindu cosmology, which is divided into several layers of realm, nature or Loka.
One of the unique things about Prambanan Temple is the reliefs that decorate its walls. This relief tells the epic story of the Ramayana, starting from the east side of the Shiva Temple and continuing clockwise to the Brahma Temple.
According to legend, the history of Prambanan Temple was built at the request of Roro Jonggrang who wanted 1,000 temples overnight.

Until now it has not been ascertained when this temple was built and on whose orders,But it is strongly suspected that Prambanan Temple was built around the middle of the 9th century by King Balitung Maha Sambu. The allegation is based on the contents of the Syiwagrha inscription found around Prambanan and currently stored at the National Museum in Jakarta.Prambanan Temple is located in the Prambanan Tourism Park, approximately 17 km to the east of Yogyakarta, precisely in Prambanan Village, Bokoharjo District. The location is only about 100 m from the Yogya-Solo highway, so it is not difficult to find it.

Mesmerizing Hindu Trinity Gods Temples
It is strange that Yogyakarta which is 90 % muslim is home to the Borobudur budhist and Prambanan Hindi temple, build from 8 century to the 9th century. The Prambanan temples have more that 290 temple, and are continuously being restored after it was destroyed by mt. Merapis eruptions. At the center are 5 big temples, where the guide explained. It has a lot of carvings and status. There are trams and golf card that takes you to the many temple.
The entrance fee for adult (December 2017) is 40.000 IDR, quite expensive but it's worth it! Because the area is neat and well-maintained. Don't forget to bring water and umbrella/hat/cap/as you want because it's so hot! This temple is not really suitable for elderly because the stairs in the temple is so high.

Prambanan Temple
Despite seeing the temple umpteen times in the internet, I was still beheld of the monstrous size of these ancient constructions. To say that we looked like ants when compared to the temples was no mere exaggeration. The tallest and biggest temple in the center was obviously dedicated to Lord Shiva the Creator. The two temples flanking it were dedicated to Brahma the Keeper and Vishnu the Destroyer. These three main shrines formed the "Trimurti" (three forms). The three other smaller temples were dedicated to the "Vahana"(vehicle) of the gods-Nandi (Shiva's bull), Hamsa (Brahma's swan) and Garuda (Vishnu's eagle). All were dwarfed by the presence of Shiva's 47 meter tall buidling.
The temples are adorned with life like panels of bas-reliefs narrating the stories of Hindu epic. They could be attained by climbing a set of steep steps to the gallery behind the balustrades walls. It would also lead you to a dark chamber which housed a statue of the god it symbolized.

Amazing Traditional Ramayana Ballet
We had just arrived in Jogja that morning and spent the afternoon at Prambanan, hence we were quite tired. However, the play was amazing and had some comedy intwined into it. It was easy to understand the storyline as they provided leaflets with descriptions of each act beforehand in multiple languages and also have a screen with a description of the events in the act during the play. The backdrop was of the lighted Prambanan temples and it was simply breathtaking!
Enjoy the traditional Ramayana ballet on the open stage of Prambanan Temple to become a destination which we should prioritize. artistic performances and performances with a variety of artistic creations make us enjoy it. Come and enjoy.
