Pelawangan Sembalun is a camping ground for climbers who go up through the Sembalun route. Usually climbers will camp here if they want to go to the summit of Rinjani or summit attack. Climbers usually wake up at 1 in the morning to prepare for the summit attack and this Sembalun crater rim as their starting point. Pelawangan Sembalun is located at an altitude of about 2,600 meters above sea level. The view of this Sembalun crater rim is really pretty. You can see the view of Segara Anak Lake and the surrounding mountain ranges. Mount Rinjani Hike Truly Difficult

I hike few mountains before, but never this difficult. 5 of us, we didn't train for it. Let's just say some of us took longer than the others climbing up. Luckily day job as a manual labourer and puts me much more physically fit to climb. The trip on the first day starts from noon to evening where you reach the base camp for the sunset. Few hours later at 2am, you start the hike of your life in the darkness. Putting all four of your limbs to hike, water wasn't enough. That moment is physical and mental push for your life to reach the peak by sunrise. We didn't reach by sunrise. First guy to the last guy that reach the peak was 3h apart. It's worth it to accomplish that climb. Also you have to go back down which is another 1-2h walk #treking #hiking #mountrinjani

#indonesiatrip Went with tour group! Our guides were so good. Please do not underestimate the hike as the summit attack is vertically challenging. Proper hiking shoes + sand gaiters will make your journey much manageable. You will be able to witness the starry skies at base camp, the night before your summit attack. We never had to worry about both food and water as our porters and guides did a great job in keeping us alive. Highly recommended team from tour company and please do visit Mount Rinjani.
