Whenever in Jeju, Seogwipo is where my regular place. And Dorrel was barely 5 minutes walk. It turned into our regular hangout. I quite like the vibe of this place. I mean customized stickers, brand name and menu all those inventive drinks. I was obsessed with the mugwort cream. A coffee drink that I had every single time I went there. Interesting mix of flavour and it looked nothing less than artwork. Nutty cloud is another fine drink they have on their menu. lots of bakery items and sweets thay go very well with the drinks. #markets The seogwipo olle market was my refuge during the hot hours of the day. I was based in seogwipo and it in the month of May, the sun would be unbearable during the day time. I have visited the olle market both during the day and night. During the day it is more of a local market. While there are street food stalls, but day time you will find vegetables and fruits being sold. A lot of moving sellers with baskets too. The market has a large multi story car park in the vicinity. The shops mostly attending tourists have somewhat expensive prices. It is in the night that this market becomes more lively with a lot more people and food being the centre of everything. I did manage to find several sea food items, popular Korean dishes and street food vendor gimmicks to attract customers. The prices as mentioned earlier were generally expensive. But in the small town of seogwipo. As you walk around and explore. You are likely to end up here many times. During our stay in Seogwipo on Jeju Island, we had a scrumptious yet affordable dinner At Haenyeo Bapsang Jeju Sanbangsanjeom. Haenyeo refers to the traditional female divers of Jeju Island who are known for harvesting seafood. Haenyeo Bapsang means to "Diver's Table" in English. This cozy restaurant only offers one set of meal at 18,000 KRW per set. The price is affordable as the ingredients are provided directly by the haenyeo. The set consists of many dishes made using local ingredients such as conch, black pork, shrimp and tilefish. We did not know many of the dishes served but we just tried with an open mind. Bonus tip at the end 😄 The luxurious resort is connected to the Jeju Olle Trail route 7, so it's convenient to do a hiking trip. Very family oriented. Breakfast is by set menu where you can choose 1 main for 4 options. I would recommend JW egg royale. But I see many Koreans ordered the Bansang, which was the only one I didn't get to try. But frankly anything you ordered the highlight will probably be the buttery croissant. The room was pretty small considering the price point. The bathroom design was unique but not very practical. Service was good and staff were proficient in English. There was also staff from China who can communicate in mandarin. The gym was small with limited equipment. The 2 pools are both heated so it's really comfortable when the weather is cold. The onsen is set to open during winter 2023. Be sure to have the complimentary drink and snack/ice cream served at the outdoor pool at around 4.30pm. After a long day of traveling we arrived on Jeju island looking for a place to stop off for a quick bite and a drink. In Seogwipo area, you’ll find The Cliff with all the best cocktails and the yummiest burgers, pizzas, ribs and more! They have a really great gift shop attached to the bar/restaurant where we bought Jeju T-shirt’s, sunglasses, diffusers, sarongs, hand made baskets and wooden plates. Not only is the view great for sunset but the vibe is welcoming and started off our holiday perfectly! This is for those who like adventure..😉 Few weeks ago, I had a chance to climb Hallasan in Jeju-do which is South Korea tallest mountain. There is two trail that will reach the summit and Baengnokdam Lake, which is Gwaneusma trail and Seongpanak trail. I am lucky to be able to experienced both trail. I went up from Gwaneusma (steep and hard according to local, but for me it was ok) and went down via Seongpanak (easy trail). Most local prefer the other way round and that makes the trail more crowded. That’s why i choose to hike from Gwaneusma and go down via Seongpanak. The whole hike takes about 7 hours. But it depends on one’s fitness. How to get there? I stayed in Seogwipo, so took bus no 281 to Jeju international university and then took bus no 475 to Gwaneusma head trail. Taxi are very expensive in Jeju. So the most affordable transportation is the bus. You can also take a taxi from Jeju international university to Gwaneusma head trail (KRW6500). There is a fee to enter the fall. Once you are here it is quite tranquil as you hear the waterfalls and the sound of the ocean. To get near the sea and waterfall it is quite rocky so best to put on comfortable hiking shoes. From here you may also hike to Sojeongbang waterfall.
